1. Have searched high and low but cannot find the camera that I need. Can someone advise please?

Its to record thieves trying to raid our barn which has no mains electricity but does have 12v solar / battery system.

    1. Colour and or B/W camera ( don't care which) to record decent quality images to a sd card. NOT interested in video.

    2. Runs off a 12v DC supply.

    3. Motion or heat sensative. Dont care which.

    4. Does NOT need night vision. We already have motion sensative flood lights.

    5. Not interested in internet or video but would be nice I suppose if I could access images it via my apple iphone. Not essential though.

    6. Low consumption when not activated.

    Thanks

    Peter

Take a look at trail/hunting cameras. Pics are saved to SD card as well as available via cellular. Very low power consumption (batteries last a long, long time).

  2. Hi,

    we have a little problem.

    our intrusion touchscreen supports h264

now all our new camera's are h264h or h265

is there a way to convert livestream h265 to h264 ?

or is there maybe an other way to solve this ?

    kind regards

The touchscreen probably can't decode H.265. Why not use the H.264 stream?

  3. Hi all, I'm new here and new to security camera systems. We recently bought a house with an existing security camera system, with no instructions, and obviously missing important components. Here's what we have: several Color IR CCD dome cameras installed and wired (model AD-A2000VIR), which I think are wired to two Ethernet jacks (marked "M" and "R" if that makes any sense), with the Ethernet jacks connected to two Ubiquiti Carrier POE adapters (model UBI-POE-15-8) "power" output, with the adapters also having a "LAN" output jack. From reading around, it sounds as if the cameras are powered via the Ethernet cable, and I'm guessing the LAN output carries the signal from the cameras? However, it seems as if those LAN outs were to connected something, perhaps either an NVR or DVR from what I've read, but no such receiver/recorded was included with the house. I tried connecting the LAN output to an old laptop computer, but it didn't recognize any network activity.

Anyone have any suggestions on any inexpensive ways I could proceed to see if this existing equipment does anything? I've seen some fairly cheap NVRs...if I hooked up that LAN output to an NVR, should I be able to see something, or does it require something more? Any guidance or helpful links would be greatly appreciated!

A quick google search shows this as being an analog camera so not sure why they would be using a PoE injector. Can you post some pictures of what you are describing?

  4. Hi guys,

I'm an integrator in New Jersey who was contacted by a salesman from IntraLogic Solutions ILS, a company in NY. They sell all the typical IP cameras, with pretty good prices, has anyone ever heard of them?

I was also wondering if anyone knows where their cameras may be made? When I asked, the guy hesitated and gave me a line about "...USA" but come on, no one is making cameras here. Attached is the camera I'm interested in.

    regards,

    Robert

Doesn't look like Hikvision or Dahua. Probably a Taiwanese manufacturer (vivotek, etc).

  5. I just purchased four LTS CMHD3553D-Z cameras but the literature was scarce. I'm trying to figure out how to zoom in or out with the camera. Do I need to do this in the DVR menu or actually on the camera?

A quick google search shows the User Manual which looks like it indicates using the PTZ control interface to configure the focus and zoom for the camera.

  6. Hi. Why 30 days ?

22 days from 4 of 5mp cameras is good

Hi Tom! Thanks for the reply!

30 days is what we're aiming to achieve because thats what they're requested.

Am I right in thinking dropping the FPS could improve the record length?

Also checking / updating to the latest firmware and turning on H.265+ rather than dropping the bitrate as H.265+ is more efficient at compressing as opposed to having it off and fixing the bitrate so say 3k?

    Kind regards,

    SAS.

So are you not using H.265+? Make sure you select that video profile in your recorder/VMS.

  7. Ok - the more I thought about it the less sense it made! Yes, it is an IP system. I do have a 4k monitor, but not connected to the PCNVR, but I'd certainly like the 4k so I can zoom in and still have pretty clear resolution. Surely I could still view the video on my non-4k monitor, albeit a lower resolution?

So any idea if 4k/30 is on the horizon for a decent price? May just replace it with a 3mp while I wait - or is the 5mp/30 mode worth it on the current 8mp turrets?

    Thanks a lot!

Define decent as far as price? 4K cameras can be had for under $300 now.

  8. Hi,

I am trying to get to grips with some terminology as I spec out a domestic install for our new house.

The cameras I'm interested have a feature called "Audio Exception Detecion" but I can't find a definition for this. There is some explanation on page75 of this: http://www.hikvision.com/UploadFile/image/2014040816012842877.pdf

...but I can't work out what the feature does.

What I want to achieve is for the camera to orient to sound detected above a particular level. Is this possible?

I am particularly interested in the Hikvision range of cameras and am looking at either DS-2DF8436IX-AELW or DS-2DF8225IX-AELW.

    Thanks for any help,

    Crom

Look at this video by some company that looks like the rebrand Hiks -

Looks like you can do what you're looking for. I just wonder how good that analytic actually is.

  9. outside in drilling usually as you do not want to push the siding away from the house. You do need to measure so you are sure were you are going to come out inside.

I thank you for responding. May I ask do I drill the vinyl siding at a slow setting (if possible), and do I need a conduit? I have purchased vinyl siding clips since I was not aware if I would need the conduit or not.

    304566_1.jpg

Note: Only drill the siding where you are mounting cameras not just to get the cable through. You should keep the holes underneath the siding as much as possible. How many cameras are you installing and where on the house are you mounting them?

  10. Again buy true hikvision

Hik are changing software to stop gray and in authorised oem.

You only have to look on the forum lately to see people are loosing connection to vms ..... and also there remote service .... for a vocation home the last thing you need is the system down and you know nothing about it.

Dahua or hikvision...... we use dahua flir . More reliable than hik ... there cloud service is America based making it more secure

But as your diy installer it’s not just about the camera make as your not going to see any difference it’s about what the product can do.

Vacation home cloud service is something that will benefit you with not always being there. Always two days of backup footage is there if anything happends

LTS is an authorized Hik distributor if you want to buy Hik labeled items they have them as well. They are about 25% more expensive than their LTS branded cameras. At least do a google search of their site.

  11. Thank you all. I'm in New York, Long Island ( don't usually tell many because everyone hates New Yorkers). I will also look at the Dahua NVR. Are their cameras as good as the Hik? I guess you have to buy their cameras to get free cloud service. I will also stick to US products rather than gray market.

    Thank you

    Steve

    Steve,

I've put in a few hundred LTS systems. They are in Port Washington (near Manhasset). The stuff just works, you won't need support really. If something doesn't work just bring it back and they'll exchange it. Send me a PM if you have any questions.

    Hi,

I currently have an LTS Doorbell (LTK6128W-WIFI), Lorex IP Cams (LNB8005) and NVR (LNR6826K), and a Dahua Turret (IPC-HDW5830R-Z).

    http://www.ltsecurityinc.com/ip-network-network-video-doorbell-ltk6128w-wifi.html

    https://www.lorextechnology.com/hd-security-surveillance-camera-system/hd-nvr-with-super-hd-4mp-security-cameras-/LNR6826K-1-p

    http://www1.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hdw5830r-z-4321.html

The Dahua Turret works fine with the Lorex NVR. But I can't add the LTS Doorbell. The NVR didn't detect the device automatically. So, I tried to add the device manually in the NVR with ONVIF protocol. I entered the IP address, TCP port, username, and password, but it said "The login return time is up."

I also tried to access the IP address in my PC's web browser, but it said that the address "refused to connect." The doorbell cam works fine by itself, but I'd like my NVR to record what the cam sees.

Is there a way to connect the Doorbell to the NVR? What are my options (with no monthly fees)? Should I get a new NVR? I'd appreciate any help.

How is the doorbell working even though you can't see the webpage? Is it only visible through the app?

  13. Hello everyone. I"m looking to get a security camera system for a new vacation house. I have looked at a few and decided to choose the Hikvision. They were reasonably priced and seemed to offer more features. I was curious if there was any difference between buying an international, English, or USA camera or NVR. Most cameras on Amazon are not USA (where I'm from) but

they are a little less expensive. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Also, I really don't know if these cameras are any good or not. considering a few DS-2CD2142FWD-I or IS and a few 5 mp.

    Thanks

Where are you located? LTS has several offices throughout the US and they sell rebranded Hikvision. They will sell directly to the public if you walk in to buy.

  14. Cheers guys for the feedback, am relatively new to this so any and all feedback is great. There is very little advise available to me locally hence turning towards forums like this for insight etc.

Regarding the dome v turret v bullet, why would you suggest one more so than another?

Recorder wise, i plan on using a Hikvision 8 channel nvr, any suggestions for or against this as well?

Dome cameras tend to suffer quality issues at night (IR reflection on dome plastic). I like bullets and turrets as they are easy to aim and adjust but bullets are easy to smack and turn the other way as opposed to a turret.

  15. Hi. I would go CVI cameras with cvi / analog dvr so you can still use your old cameras as well .. for cnc machine look for motorised lens. Since you might have different size objects in your cnc that will allow you to control focus and zoom from the recorder.

Tom good to see you man. I remember years back looking at these cctv systems for my welding shop and found a lot of your posts helpful. Glad your still around. I'll see what I can find for cvi with motorised lens.

There are some inexpensive cameras that actually support a spot monitor with BNC output and then will record on an NVR. I've used Interlogix (rebranded Hikvision) dome cameras that have this feature. TVD-3202/TVD-3201 are Interlogix part numbers I know off the top of my head. You could do some digging and find the Hik equivalent.

  16. Another thing is the software can’t tell you the performance of a camera

Using dome cameras will be a big mistake.

You came on asking for advice and your getting the run around over design software for a home

Again like in another post the software is having cameras away from the house and only at garden

Software is wrong for 8mp which is over kill

    It says nothing of IR

Says nothing of the recording device (which is important)

I would stop wasting time on software and look into products

Start by changing from dome to turret cameras

I agree that the software may be overkill for a small project, but there is definitely a ton of value for it in the commercial space. I think the difference between full coverage vs. just viewing someone near the home are two different design strategies.

I will agree going with turret cameras will save you some headaches.

  17. Hello everyone!

I am trying to install one of my 4 Panasonic CW964E PTZ domes.

Now my issue is when connecting to DVR, I get a green bar on top of the image, and a rainbow effect going from bottom corner to opposite side top corner. The image is black/white but with a harder rainbow effect on some colors like red.

Anyone have any idea what it can be? I tried 2 domecameras and both of them had the same error.

I also have a green top-bar, no idea why it shows. One of the main issues iwth the top-bar is that it pushes the actual image from the camera down, so when im trying to adjust camera settings I cant see the last menu items.

Anyone have any idea how I can figure this out?

COAX for image, RS485 for controll

    Thanks in advance!

Have you tried a different input on the DVR? How about a different cable? Take a new coax and run it directly from the camera to the DVR and report back.

  18. Hello,

I have been running a 5 camera system with Blue Iris for about 4 years now, but want to decrease some power consumption by using a Hikvision DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR.

BI system consists of 5 cameras (Hik, Dahua, Swann), a PC, Cisco POE switch with 4 attached cameras and a TrendNet POE switch with a single attached camera for the garage. All components are on the same subnet (192.168.0.xxx).

Therefore, I now have many questions. Here is one of these questions.

How can I attach the remote garage camera to the NVR via the TrendNet switch without a direct cable run to the NVR POE ports?

Basically, I want to replace the BI PC (192.168.0.15) with the Hik NVR without recabling or re IP'ing cameras, if possible. See my attached network configuration.

    John

Those cameras should come up in the NVR with no issues. You can definitely slap in an NVR in place of the PC, just set a static 192.168.0.xx (.15 if you want to keep everything the same) and it should auto-discover cameras on the network.

If you opt to get rid of the PoE switch and go with an NVR that has one built in, I'm not so sure you'll really see much power consumption difference depending on how old that switch is.

  19. I am in the market to purchase a good security camera system. I want good night vision. Has anyone ever purchased or used Backstreet Survellancae? They have some videos on Youtube and talk a good game. I am just curious as to the quality of their product.

Also I was thinking of purchasing a lower end security camera:

    1. Swann 24 - Channel 5MP NVR with 4TB HDD and 16 5MP outdoor Night Vision Bulllet cameras.

    2. Lorex?

Anyone have any experience with these?

90% of the low budget cameras come from the same factory line with a different color sticker on them. Swann or Lorex aren't terrible - especially if you can take advantage of some of the rebates/promos run by BJs/Costco. I would tell you to throw away the premade cables, buy some Cat6 cable and connectors, and make sure to go with IP cameras. You can definitely get a better system, but they are tough to beat at that price point.

  20. We are making a proposal for a customer who has all geo equipment and they want to put a couple of 360 cameras in their gyms I am thinking possibley two per gym but have not used the product and would like some input on this possible solution. I would go with the 12 mega pixel version. If I coulod get by with one that would be even better

We need more info. How large is the gym? Do you have basic floor plans? How high are the ceilings?

  21. I have 16 channel camera system

    SDVR H.264, works

Installer gave me online access when system was installed. I had to type IP address and it will show me all cameras. Recently I tired that IP address it works but does not show any thing. I had attached picture of it.

    Can someone help me please???????

    thank you

    katie

    Katie -

Looks like you can still get to the NVR but don't have the right plugins installed in your browser. Who is the manufacturer of the recorder? Send me a private message if you need any additional help.
