  1. I had this same issue with my carport. The camera was blinded by the sun during the middle of the day. So I ended up having to situate the camera where it couldn't "see" the direct sunlight. But then I cut off part of the area I wanted to see as well. So I ended up with another camera that covered this with the sunlight at it's back. Kinda double coverage but it is the carport after all and I wanted to make sure it was covered in all lighting situations.

    CNB xcm-24vf problem

What is the voltage of the power with the camera in line and running (not on the bench)?
  3. I have the same DVR. I had to change the 80 to 85. Then I simply port forwarded the 85 to the DVR's DHCP Static IP I setup for it. The UPNP did the rest in the UPNP tab on my router. Pretty simple. My router supported loopback, so I could test the link that I would use outside.
  4. I know the guy who developed the IP Camera app on Android does it some how. You could take his app and decompile it to get some ideas possibly.

CNB VCM-24VF stuck in day mode

I've send abandoned it in that one location. I put the IR dome back, but with some perfectly cut out electrical tape over the bottom half of the IR LEDs. The camera was a closeup camera and would get washed out sometimes. Not anymore, just perfect, I can see the iris change but yet the face not washed out. So I put the CNB over in it's spot that doesn't have much light near it. Works pretty good now in the switching. I just need to get my focus and zoom dialed in where I want. So touchy...
  6. So out of everyone talking up these cameras on this board I decided to buy one. I put in a location that has some ok lighting by street lights and such. I had an IR dome here but when you walked close to it, of course you had white out. I was going to just cover some of the IR and be done with it but I decided to get this camera. The picture looks great during the day! WOW!! The colors pop! Fast forward to night and it's stuck in day mode. ARGHHH!!! I toy around with it and get it to switch by putting my hand up. It stays all night and switches in the morning back to day mode. Now it's night again and sure enough it won't switch. I like the build and everything else about the camera. One of the easiest camera installs I've ever done with the extra video port and such. But I'm about to rip it down and take some electrical tape and cut it to fit over some of the IR on my other little dome camera. Any help on some settings for this camera would be great. I'd rather not post public pictures of my system on the internet (yes, I'm worry wart and that's why I have this system right?), but it's under an eave near a carport capturing the rear of the vehicles and some of the side of the house.
  7. I don't get why people want to use computers for recording video. Specialized dedicated device is the only way to go. I hope your installation company doesn't go around installing stuff on people's computers for non-analog installs. Get a nice DVR that can be placed in a hard to reach hidden location on the property.

Code Enforcement Officer Walks Into Home

Why was she sleeping and not cutting the grass? (maybe she's been working nights, so I'll give her that) Horrible camera placement and quality. Is that 120p at the top mean it's a 120p camera??

I wonder how this will affect CCTV - 7Gbps wireless

Now they just need to get the wireless 12 volts at 100 feet working correctly! Kinda reminds me of the kid at the auto parts store asking me if I want lifetime brake pads. I told him "Sure. As long as I can buy lifetime rotors to go with them." I usually receive a funny look as the kid doesn't get the joke...

CNB VCM-24VF stuck in day mode

I guess I was hoping the 24 or 20 was something about the camera sensor used. Voltage...meh... 12vdc is fine for my use. If I really had to I could find a source very close to the camera anyways. Thanks for the info.

    Mounting: Discreet or Deter?

I just mount them where I need them. I can care less if people see them, I want them to see them...now I don't want them painted orange but you get the drift. I know people were looking at me when I put them up. I know they were looking at me in the night with my little 7 inch LCD screen fired up lighting up my face I changed some settings and such. I actually kinda preferred they saw me. My neighbor noticed them and thought it was cool and wants me to install some for him now.

CNB VCM-24VF stuck in day mode

I toyed around with it some more and also found another post stating someone had to turn the AGC up to 15 or something like that. It looks like it's switch okay now. Not really optimal point but decent. I guess I'm spoiled with the other cams I've dealt with with the big 200 point scale for Day and Night modes went to switch back and forth. So I assume the High on the Day/Night mode is the one I want if it doesn't want to change right? But at least this camera saves it's settings. I just found out that Vonnic dome I bought won't keep it's settings even after hitting SAVE ALL. Pain in the butt to either take the dome down to get to the wire then repoint it again or crawl in the attic to get to the button on the wire. Now that I have this stuff down I'm thinking of pulling the trigger on another CNB. Maybe the same one. I currently have an EFFIO-E IR dome there and it does pretty well. Had to cover some of the IR as it was just too hot. Once I covered some of the IR the iris opened up and it can actually see pretty well. But it looks kinda ghetto looking with the tape on the lense and the humidity of the South won't allow the tape to stay on long. I was thinking of maybe getting another CNB but with the Intelligent IR in case I wanted to put it in a dark area without having to buy an IR emitter. So many to pick from... not sure what to get: CNB LCM-24VF, LDM-24VF, LFM-20VF, or maybe wing it with another VCM-24VF. What's the 20 and 24 mean on the model numbers? Lower numbers means worse to me

CNB VCM-24VF stuck in day mode

Yeah, I've tried that... I think I set it to High as that seems to be the best, it finally switches but just stays in day mode too long. Debating on returning this thing due this major flaw.

    Dome and sunny day

All I could get was a little thumbnail, when I clicked it was asking me to upload a photo. No thanks.

More for the Installation Hall of Shame

That video was done by a very active & helpful member here who did a first time CCTV install for his home. Actually not bad for a first time DIY job in my opinion. I'll second that. He also provides some much needed perspective and with the tight shots actually has better coverage where needed than some of the "nightly news" shots. I'll take usable shots over a few temporary wires anytime... I do agree on the great resource, no denying that. Just needs to improve a bit on the install, I'm hoping he has since this looked like the initial install. Everybody has to start somewhere and learn from their own mistakes.

Best retail outlet for Dahua DVRs?

Kinda pricey but I have heard they are good DVR's. I think if I had a 16 camera system to install, I would probably do it with 2-8ch DVR's. Cheaper, and you've got a hot spare right there if something goes wrong. Just have to figure out which 8 cams you don't want temporarily, but 8 is better than zero.

    Q-See 4 Channel HD NVR w/ 2 x 720P Cameras

Interesting... I was impressed with the QT528 8(full D1 recording on all) channel DVR with 4 cameras and all supplies/power breakout box. Only two cameras but I could see it complementing a 8 channel analog system. I wonder if their PC software will let you mix the analog and HD DVRs in the same app.

    need 16 cameras

Interesting cameras... Do you have any screen caps from these cameras? only 4mm-9mm is kinda a downer. Most I see are 2.8mm-12mm like this one: http://www.videocamerasecurity.net/servlet/the-210/2.8-dsh-12mm-IR-Vandal-Dome/Detail I have the white one of this and love it! The focus and zoom were linear unlike other domes I've used where the zoom/focus ramp up so fast you pass it everytime. And these were some supposed high dollar name brands.

    Swann package

I have CM9 of Android loaded on my WebOS HP Touchpad tablet. Their tablet QT View HD app wouldn't show up in my Google Play market. So I hit them up on support and they sent me the APK with no issues. Very quick too! Threw it in my DropBox and pulled up the tablet and it installed and worked perfectly.
  20. Make sure you have the latest firmware on your DVR. If you have an issue with loading the video still, I would contact support at Qsee. I've used them once for a weird request for an Android tablet. They were very quick on their response and it worked perfect.

    Information on Dome Camera.

If I was the owner of the camera, I'd make sure your picture cropped and photoshopped to conceal the full coverage and your face would be in some weird scenery of you holding your phone or camera taking pictures of the camera. I'd hang them all over the place near the camera

    Swann package

I have been enjoying the Qsee QT528 DVR. It was perfect for my needs. I'm glad I didn't get a 4 channel DVR as I quickly figured out that I wanted 8 after setting up my first 4 cameras. A 12 would have been perfect but I guess they don't make those. Definitely look for a unit that does D1 30fps on all channels at the same time.

Anyone have experience with this DVR?

Looks like a plugin is not loading. Have you tried FireFox?

    Swann package

I can't find a manual online for that DVR. I can't even find it on Swann's website. I found it on Costco and Ebay though. Something with a bunch of features such as DVR, I don't buy them unless I can thumb through the PDF first to see how it works. Just remember, you get what you pay for! That system sounds awful cheap to include a PTZ camera as well.

    Information on Dome Camera.

Something sounds fishy here.. why haven't you taken it down by now and looked at it? Do you not have access to it and you are trying to figure out if it is watching your moves in this location?
