  1. According to the softwares manual, IP cameras are unfortunately not supported. The manual is very vague for card support. You may want to ask them directly if there software supports multi camera capture boards like aver or geo. Either way you go you are going to want a card that can record at D1 at 24+ frames a second per channel. http://sonotaco.com/soft/UFO2/help/english/2-1.html

    Avermedia NV8416 System

Pretty sure you just change your windows theme to Basic and it gets rid of the error. Tom, I am just also trying to move the programs window from one screen to the other. Do you mean that I can move the entire Aver Program from monitor one to monitor two by right clicking anywhere in the window and draging it to monitor 2? Or, are you saying that if you are using something like Imatrix you can right click on a video feed and drag it to another monitor that Imatrix is running on? Aver is new to me so I am trying to figure out all of its tricks as well. I only ask because like myplace46, I can also not figure out how to move the entire applications window from one monitor to the next. The right click drag isn't working for me either

    Avermedia NV8416 System

I know this is old but Im posting it anyway in case someone else has the same issue. Vist instructions on the top, Win7 on the bottom. http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/disable-aero-on-windows-vista/
  4. You talking about the main DVR program? Correct me if im wrong but isn't that an option in settings to have it start in compact mode? I'm new to Aver so maybe we are talking about two different things I know on mine there is a checkbox for 'startup in compact mode'. I would think you would just uncheck that and you should be good to go right? Probably uncheck 'launch in silent mode' too.
  5. Thanks man. What version of windows you using? The maximize button works fine on mine. I may disable it so it doesn't cause problems for others. I agree with you. I am a little baffeled how its not at least an option. From other conversations I have had with others on the forum it seems its been this way for 8 years and everyone just seems rollover and comply. Granted there are cases were you want to lock out everything on the computer but they really should give the installer/user the option: check here for always on top, check here for no minimize button, etc....
  6. As requested!!! Just put the program in your windows startup folder and anytime you open up Aver Remote Console it will give it its own title bar and min/max buttons. Resizing will never be possible unless Aver incorperates it into the program themselves. That would involve a lot of internal code so the window would now how to rearrange everything in it according to its new size. I could add the resize option in this program I just made but if you resized the window all it would do is make it smaller but not rearrange anything so it would essentially just hide anything that was no longer in view. viewtopic.php?f=43&t=32458
  7. Allows you to run the Aver Remote Console in its own window with a title bar that allows you to move Aver Remote Console from one screen to the next and even use a minimize and maximize button like normal. Simply add to your Windows startup programs and it will do the rest anytime you open up Aver Remote Console. Its free for comercial use but donations are deffinately accepted. Paypal: kdoske@gmail.com I will accept feature request within reason. If you need a complete custom solution for something else pm me for a quote. Download (v0.01) http://www.datafilehost.com/download-46dda22c.html Limitations: Only tested on Windows7. Could work on others, I dunno. The Maximize button will snap it to fill your screen but the taskbar will cover up the buttom buttons since the window can't be resized. I could make it were its always on top to prevent this but then it kind of makes it not like a normal window. I suppose I could add it as an option later so the user could decide... The 'X' button will not close the program. You will still have to use the Power button. Aver has disabled that internally in the program so there is nothing I can ever do to make it work. 8. Shouldn't be that hard. Give me a day.
  9. God forbid someone come out with something easier and ruin your 8 year streak of keyboard buttons that frankly don't even do what you claim they do. I have the program on my desktop and it does not do what you claim. I guess if you hit the windows key and then hit the show desktop button it would 'work' but it would only not be visible until you clicked something. As soon as you ran another program or clicked on something on your desktop the DVR program would pop back up. Also, the program I made works with the main DVR program. The whole point of the program I wrote is for people who use their DVR computer for other task. In that case you wouldn't run the remote console it makes no sense. Finally, thank you grooveman. Anyway, for whatever its worth the programs free so have fun. Tom your reply still doesn't make much sense and lord only knows what you are circling on the taskbar, but have fun pushing your windows key to your hearts content and sorry to have troubled you with progress......
  10. wow, I think that hate came at record timing.... Hitting the one button on my program would be the equivalent to hitting the power button, selecting minimize, and entering your password. It essentially puts it in 'Silent mode' with no password at the click of one button. Hitting the windows button does not minimize the program to the notification area (the clock area) and it definately doesn't bypass the password. All it does is show the task bar with the program still opened up full screen..... Anyone that uses their DVR on a computer for other task will apperciate it. Hitting the windows key is very lame not to mention it doesn't even minimize it. Can you imagine if windows made it were everthing you opened could only be pushed to the background by pressing the windows key with no minimize button? I can't...
  11. Finally minimize your Aver DVR and Player window to silent mode without typing in a password! I created this app so that it displays a very large button where the task bar would normally be. It is only visible when the DVR Module or the Player Module is running. If you click the button the program will close the Player (if its running) and minimize the DVR to the notification area (the little icons in clock area). To beat a dead horse, hitting the one button on my program would be the equivalent to hitting the power button, selecting minimize, entering your password. It essentially puts it in 'Silent mode' with no password at the click of one button. Its free for comercial use but donations are deffinately accepted. Paypal: kdoske@gmail.com I will accept feature request within reason. If you need a complete custom solution for something else pm me for a quote. Download (v0.01) The forum wont let me use so you are going to have to copy and past the links http://www.kdoske.com/Kdoske%20AverDVRMinimizer.exe or http://www.datafilehost.com/download-4793a6d3.html Limitations: Only tested on Windows7. Could work on others, I dunno. If you have any folder or another program that is named, 'DVR' or 'PLAYER' then the minimize button will appear. When you click the minimize button if you hold the button without releasing right away the taskbar will be activated and there is a chance it will not minimize the DVR. Click to Enlarge. I changed the button to read just 'Minimize' instead of 'minimize to taskbar'.

They were not really sure why people where calling them EX's! Too strange. Anyway I gave they said the different UPC codes just reflected diffferent revisions.

    NV6240E8 and NV6240EX8 -- whats the difference?

Thanks guys. I'll give them a call like you said. It's good to know its probably just model changes and not fakes.
  14. So I am trying to figure out what the difference is for these cards. Some websites list the NV6240E8 as NV6240EX8. I looked everywhere on avermedias website and cant find any reference to a NV6240EX8. Is this a fake card with one letter changed in the mfg part number? I reallize that the EX could be for PCI 'Ex'press but with all the fake cards running around I want to be sure. I noticed that some of the websites list the recording modes as CIF and I know the recording on the NV6240E8 should be D1. Some say they only work on 32bit systems while Aver says they work on 64bit win 7 systems. I also noticed that some websites use different product UPC codes then others; 1010706946, 795522960641, and 848090000148. I have found websites that sell them for $370 to $800. Which are real, the prices are so different?? Honestly I wish these companies would just sell their cards directly off thier website. This old fasion system of restricting sales directly to consumers or even distributers in my eyes just causes more problems then solutions.
