  1. Considering that model as well. However, I like this model because of its size. I am mounting this on the ceiling of my front porch so the smaller and more inconspicuous the better. I found an Aliexpress vendor who sells the DS-2CF2532F-IS.
  2. I really want the S version of this camera so I can hookup to my alarm system.
  3. Let's get back to talking about cameras... Any news on the NVR?
  4. The Dahua NVR basically supports 4 concurrent 1080p streams (120fps / 16 channels = 7.5fps). As you said, I think this is just a firmware issue, but can't be 100% sure until we get a unit to test and someone who has access to the right firmware. Who knows...maybe all the NVRs are the same, just marketed under separate product numbers...
  5. Interesting, the manual for the NVR also doesn't differentiate the 4-channel, 8-channel, and 16-channel versions. However, the manual shows that the firmware update screen references the number of channels. Does your firmware screen show 16 channels?
  6. I asked Q-See if there is firmware available to update the 4-channel to the 16-channel and this was their response: "The chipsets on the models are different so they have different firmware, the firmware on the 16 channel is different then the 4 channel because of the chipsets. We do not have the firmware for the NVRs, it is installed at the factory, we will not have a firmware version available until they create an update to the current firmware." Curious if the chipset is actually different...maybe more memory in the 16-channel version...?
  7. I just found the manuals. It looks like they plan on coming out with the 1.3MP Dome, the 2MP Dome, and the 2MP bullet (the big one). IP Camera Manual: http://www.q-see.com/files/manuals/QC%20IP%20Camera%20Manual_web.pdf NVR Manual: http://www.q-see.com/files/manuals/QC804,%20808,%208016%20Manual%20v1_web.pdf
  8. I'm actually very curious now - any idea where I can source the English firmware for a Dahua NVR3216? Assuming the hardware is the same, it should be as simple as a firmware update. If it bricks, I guess we can just exchange at Costco...
  9. The NVR deal is actually really good. It's the 4-channel Dahua POE NVR. I wish we could change the firmware to convert to an 8-channel or 16-channel (I assume the hardware is the same). If you assume $150/camera, then the NVR and 1TB HDD is only $99.
  10. I should have modified what I said, I assume that I wouldn't receive normal firmware updates as I would with a local distributor. When I sent them a question on this very same topic, I received a cryptic response saying that I shouldn't worry because these cameras are from the latest shipment so they will ship to me with the latest firmware.
  11. I just purchased two Dahua cameras from a seller on Aliexpress (the 2MP Dome and the 1.3MP Bullet). I paid just under $300 for the entire order. I placed my order on 9/20, and it wasn't shipped until 9/27 (from Hong Kong). It will likely arrive by Saturday so approximately 20-25 day delivery timeline. The trade off is that I do not have access to the same service that a distributor like Empire would provide. For example, regular firmware updates and post-sale service/support. I am waiting on purchasing an NVR. If I need one, I would like to purchase the 8 channel Dahua NVR from Empire. $325 seems like a great deal.
