    Protect hdd

Hi, are you using a surveillance hard drive right??? make sure its a western digital purple or seagate skyhawk or toshiba video, these are the three main brands for cctv hard drives. Installer at: IseeU CCTVMobile: 07903322632Web: www.iseeucctv.co.ukEmail: Info@iseeucctv.co.uk
  2. When formatting a hard drive for a dvr what type of format do you use, the DVR is not recognising the hard drive and I read up on the Internet try formatting it??? It's a western digital 1.5tb WD AV-GP

    Pet Store sytem

use Hikvision HD-TVI Equipment, 2mp should be a good picture, the cameras wont be much i think its going to be the 32ch dvr that will cost a bit.

    Clicked Format by mistake

Go to your HDD setup and see if the dvr is recognizing the hard drive, see the pic below, you can see under device there is a name and under capacity says 500gb, you need to have something similar to this, if there is nothing there then turn the dvr off(dont just unplug it) power it down first, open the dvr up, unplug the hard drive and plug it back in again, go to the hdd setup again and see if it appears.

    Hikvision DS-7200 series

You usually need the serial number and verification code to setup the Hik-Connect, flip the DVR upside down and hopefully it should be on the sticker at the bottom, if not, then you'll have to do what Securame said, however Hiddns is no longer available. Freeip is a free dynamic ip provider which you have to update every other month or use dyndns.org which you will have to pay for. (if you have virgin media broadband you'll have a static ip address)
  6. if your recorder supports audio in then just run a external microphone, theres multiple ways around it but generally speaking you need to get a rca cable from the dvr to where you want the microphone and also a 12v power, i'd run a solid copper cat5 cable from the dvr to the place where you want the audio, use 2 pairs + and - for power and 2 pairs for + and - for the audio, run the audio pair into a balun and stick a bnc to rca adapter on the end and bobs your uncle.

    16 channel system help

If you're only after 1080p have you thought about HD-TVI? All the wiring can be done with cat5 cable, get the same quality picture at probably half the cost? Me personally its easier to setup and troubleshoot.
  8. One 10-18x zoom camera facing down the lane, one fixed camera looking down from above the hands, hooked upto a simple to use dvr. I'd Suggest going for a HD-TVI hikvision recorder and the cameras just have to be HD-TVI. wont be much cost to TBH

Old CCTV systems user, but new member here !

    whats the issue?
  10. Hi... If your tv has a yellow red and white RCA port then i dont see why you can't run the BNC cable into the AV screen and watch it, basically you need a BNC to RCA adapter, twist the adapter onto the end of the cable and then just put it into the yellow RCA in the screen. Let me know if you're still struggling.

    Service and Maintenance Contract

If its a system i've not installed i usually tell them a price on a annual service and maintenance but parts are charged separately at RRP, but i've never done anything near 300 camera system TBH.

    Newbie Question

Only issue with the spy glasses you'd have to keep them on all the time and looking at the basket and charging issue?? i have a set of these and theyre good but not for your matter. Do you want the camera to be covert?? then try using HD-TVI technology cameras such as smoke alarm style or something similar 2mp. Also keep in mind how far the cameras going to be positioned from the packing table.

    IP camera/nvr setup problem

Hi TiggerTrevor, Annke is far from Hikvision. As to the problem....who is your broadband with? I would try connecting all the cameras to the Dvr enabling DHCP on the dvr and then rebooting the machine...once on then search for the cameras again... if it doesnt work, then remove the ethernet cable from the router and enable the dhcp and reboot again, sometimes the dvrs networking settings do not match with the camera so they conflict and cannot be searched.. i've had it where the cameras is set to 192.168.1.69 and the customer broadband is with Sky or Virgin (192.168.0.1) so they just wont pick up, you have to enable DHCP reboot the Machine and search again. Alternative is to (long Winded) power the camera via a 12v plug separately and connect it directly to a laptop...login in to the camera and change the networking settings manually to same as your router.

    Hik-Connect

Hi All, Now that Hikvision have stopped their HIDDNS service and came up with the new hik-connect what do you guys think of it? The Hiddns allowed me to setup a domain for my customers and llowed me to manage that and also allowed multiple users to use that domain. Now the hik connect only allows one use watch mobie viewing?? Am i doing something wrong? any guides on using this new Hik connect app and hik connect it self?
  15. i think the best and quickest way to remote view set up is to enable DMZ on the router, all routers have this setting. 1) Rather than messing about with port forwarding, simply look for the DMZ setting in your router, type in the IP address of the DVR e.g. 192.168.1.11 and click enable, apply or what ever it is. this will open all possible ports for that device (DVR). (triple check the ip in the dvr is the same as what you just put in the DMZ settings in the router) 2) check if your port is open by using the port checker tools, just type in google port checker, you want to check for the mobile port. 3) if its open bobs your uncle, your ready to go, if not... 4)if not, then two possible problems: most likely second one is the problem 1)your dvr is not connected to the dvr physically either by ethernet cable or via wireless ethernet bridge (them wireless adapters you use if its awkward to run a cable) which ever method your're using 2) your settings on your dvr dont match your network settings. 5)answer to 2) on your computer run CMD and type in "ipconfig" hit enter, at the top it will show gateway and subnetmask you want to make sure in your dvr that these settings are exactly the same, dns 1 and 2 doesnt matter, just put them both to 000.000.000.000. 6) save any settings, if any made on the dvr, make sure your reboot the dvr after each setting. 7) still not working?? just email me ragnan@hotmail.co.uk

    fuzzy lines

Hi wondering if anyone can help? Im getting fuzzy lines across the screen, they're not moving up and down just in one place in the centre. * Its a pelco spectra iv with the pelco power supply * Running a 230v upto the power supply which is 1 foot away from the camera and 26v from the power supply to the camera. (originally was on 24v but i thought id up it up to see if that solves the problem) * The cable running from power supply to camera is probs 2 foot in length and is a 1.5mm lighting *ive tried two different cat5/6 cables for video feed, and also tried different baluns, currently running a solid copper cat 6e cable, only 20 meters if that from the camera to dvr any suggestions?
  18. Hi I have 3 pelco spectra 4's set up to a kbd300a keyboard but I want to control the cameras over the internet which I can if I connect directly to the dvr, what is the way to connect if I want to operate the cameras from both keyboard and dvr. ATM I have all 3 cameras running rs485 on pelco d.
  19. Hi Barryvdw, did the clickone's suggestion work?? Anybody got any other wiring ideas????

Ptz control via dvr and keyboard

What so I can connect the cameras to the keyboard and then from the keyboard to dvr?

Ptz control via dvr and keyboard

Ok, how do I control the cameras with both the virtual dvr ptz function as well as physical keyboard? As you might know u can't just connect the rs485 + and - directly to the dvr and keyboard cause it just won't work

  23. hi ive got cctv system set up with maplins 8 channel sentient dvr, one pelco spectra IV, one honeywell VCL orbitor and one cheap £20 420 tvl chinese camera. i bought the pelco spectra thinking because there're used in town centres and other industrial estates that it might be good picture quality. Now the problem i have is the picture quality of the pelco spectra is the same as the cheap 420tvl camera. You can only just make out theres an moving person in the picture, where as the VCL you can pick up the face without even zooming. *all the cameras are set at the same height around the building *cable length is only 10mtres ive tried messing about with the onboard settings ive tried recording in different formats and FPS, D1, HD1 and CIF do i need a better dvr or what am i doing wrong? http://www.maplin.co.uk/sentient-8-channel-500gb-dvr-with-remote-viewing-used-683061
