Help Needed CCTV for my Building

Follow the directions of Thai companies in your local area. LG is a reliable brand. It is them to get you Tech support, not HikVision sales man in this forum.

New system design thoughts - PC based NVR

I have never said 720p is junk. I said analog D1 is junk and that your company sells junk since they only make analog. Assessing image resolution quality is subjective? Did you not watch the video? with one you can read the numbers with the other your cannot..there is NOTHING subjective about it. Explain how the higher res cameras produce a better image? WE ARE NOT BLIND. Have you ever held a 1080p camera in your hand? I doubt it. My suggestion is to walk down the block and pick one up from hikvision. From many threads, I noticed you live on promoting 4MP cameras, these days. And I expect you would for 5MP as soon as your Master directs you to start. You bet.

You should also check Aptina, as well. The same as Omni. As said, the prime sensor companies do focus on smart phones, more than 2 B pieces. They do not care about IP camera market, which is less than 5 % of it. Assessing Image quality is Quite Subjective. So you may stick to your belief. I would stick to mine. I can also predict some would pop up in 3 months, saying 4MP should be junks and new 5MP a superb, without saying these are based on the same sensors as 720P. Just because I do not like the innocent users are being mislead.
  4. You may not buy 4MP cameras. You may buy 720P or 1080P, fit for easy/and smooth decoding, more frames per second, less heat, or less CPU loading, etc. 720P cameras are using the same image sensor as 4MP cameras. That means, 4MP just simply increased the number of pixels, simply the same fidelity of true resolution as 720P. But they can charge a lot more than 720P. That's the secret of trade.
  5. Cabling distance is not the function of U$. NTSC/PAL signal from analog camera can go over 100 meter easily. It is rugged itself, whether others are rugged or not. U$ 10 dollar was to be priced due to market force. You do not need to blame or dis-respect. They are not Junks. No distributor or Manufacturer carries million pieces of Junk. They are not stupid.

Oh, please google and read "OV16880". Good reason 720P claims the best. All CCTV members should know. Period.
  7. One of the good things is that analog cameras, whether to be 900 TVL or 480 TVL are to be supported by any DVR. As said, its recording resolution is D1, which means the DVR is relatively new and likely to support H.264. "supported" and actually seeing a benefit are two different things... D1 is NOT relatively new..lol.. There is no "good thing" about D1 analog...just as there is no "good thing" about a crt TV or monitor...at least not in any modern country. I forgot to mention: Analog systems are cheapppp and rugggged, being around years. You do not need a cannon to kill a street roaches. Just U$10 analog camera will do good.

Go n Read the specification of image sensors from ominvision site. You should find that 720P/1080P/3MP/4MP/6MP/8MP.../16MP are based on the same image sensor. In terms of true resolution fidelity, they are the same. Wow and Hmmmm... That means 720P camera commands truely the best / genuine quality resolution. What other resolution cameras???? They may simply have increased (scaled up) resolution because they knew they may play on end-users for more money. But you may be inviting all sorts of tech problems, by simply increasing the size of video images, letting alone your own money. We can not deny there are, in this forum, some people always promoting new IP cameras, claiming more sizes, even claiming better resolution. Quite misleading...

  10. 850~900 TVL are for recent analog cameras, priced below U$20 at most, but with its quality a lot improved. You have D1 -DVR already. Just buy and plug new analog cameras. Why spending money? If you go for HD, then you have to buy everything new, including HDD and decent monitors.

Is plain old HD-SDI actually dead?

The linked site misleads people. Wicked, all I have to say. There is no specific reason, technically, for HD-TVI to perform better than HD-CVI or HD-AHD. Let them compete each other so that end users can enjoy better quality and better price. HD-SDI, carrying video in form of raw digital, no compression, is still expensive when compared to those HD-Analogs, listed above. And CCTV is becomng Cost driven market, not tech driven any longer. So HD_SDI seems to be losing its ground.

You mean you can count and id cameras by visiting more often at Vegas. It is a Good tip. The OP is not talking about CCTV system for his home. 4~8 HP IP cameras can cover the 20~40 analog cameras. It is a Good tip. If nobody buys it, no job any longer.

I mean IT specialists at Casino do know what's good and bad points. Not many sales man can succcessssfully convince them to IP cameras.

What Ccd Board Should I Use.

If you liked the video quality of CCD sensor, you may stick to those. you may google /amazon around CCD with TVL more than 650. And you would like its very low price.

Also blurry/low resolution/useless. Not any more rugged that IP or CVI/TVI. It all depends on the manufacturer. Cheap junk analog is not rugged. Analog card is even worse. Its 2015, standard non hd analog should NEVER be installed. Both IP and CVI/TVI are very cheap. Analog system has been there for years. It comes down very very cheap, but rugged. 90% of Las Vegas still using analog. I do not think they are not experienced. Who can be out-smarted?

    Help!!! System components advice please.

HD-AHD for 720P was a good choice. Its DVR could handle 960H cameras at the same time. As a similar product, I can recommend HD-CVI system from Daihua or HD-TVI system from HikVision. You should not mix HD-AHD/CVI/TVI cameras which are not compatible each other.

    Help!!! System components advice please.

tomcctv, The issue is to fit in £300. The system was £3,000, only a few years ago. Now you are calling it Junk, a state of art, only a few years ago, on which you could have lived.

    Help!!! System components advice please.

Guess you don't know the value of £300 Instead of just sales ..... Take into account the ops application ...a farm .... 8 cameras dvr HDD and monitor for £300 is going to be junk. It is not just a matter of selling .... The area covered all so needs to be taken to account . sunnykim. U.K. Has fit for purpose ...... Images need to be good to even get them to court ...... No point installing a system that is cheap and poor Images needed to get to Court, Even those good days of CIF sized 1 FPS, State of The Art.

    Help!!! System components advice please.

AHD -720p cameras must have dropped as much as 960H cameras. If not, you can go for analog 960H cameras, its DVR system, HDD, and monitor, for £300.

    Help!!! System components advice please.

It seems the length of cable to be OK. And number of cameras could not be that many - like 32 /16 Channels. If you are familar with analog system, AHD of 720P could be recommended. It could be done with a lot less money than your old systems, 4 years ago.
  23. Please do not keep barking on. Do not claim a certain video is better than others, because they do not carry any mathematical tool for quality evaluation. If they do, there is No Reason for those TV makers keep arguing their quality over others. The same chipsets and the same SDK would make differences? Hmmm. Please google and read "OV16880" omnivision for image sensor specification. You learn that 720P has a good reason to be the best. Please check and open your IP cameras and list up what kinds of chipsets are in there. Bring them up and then talk. One more thing to add. Most of chip set makers are going for HikVision and Daihua as their first project. Fact is that They do not have their own chipsets. They are No 1 and 2 in Volume. Chipmakers count on Pieces. After working with them, their SDKs were refined and the parmeters got tuned for the best quality. Then moving on to the secondary or the third brand makers. That means there are good chances that unbranded or counterfeat makers would make the best quality among all of them... The same here. I am doing the public service because I do not want to see some newbies being mislead by ugly cheating scammers.

    DVR chip resistor location.

Chip resistor? No idea. You better contact the DVR maker and tell what you want to do.
