  1. I seen alot of questions about frame rates, resolution and compression 1) does anyone know of a card that will record at 30fps at hi res? I know Chance i's hardware boards do. Does anyone else? 2) My older Chance i card mpg 12004 is pretty good but still is grainy on the record end. even at 702x480 but one i just installed is grainy even on the real time display? 3) What are the differences between mpeg-4 and H-264? Is the extra compression worth the loss of quality? as mpeg-4 is still not perfect. Is there anything out there the compares to a camera directly connected to a cctv monitor?
  2. Get your money back. Most Dvr cards on e bay are junk! What brand of card and software would be nice? Go with a brand that you see mentioned here on this forum and you'll have no problems.
  3. Good question. I found that most cards Geo, Avermedia, Chance i, are real time at the local server for display. But I've been looking at recording rates and resolution and geo and aver are 30 fps only at a lower resolution 320x240. Chance i are 30 fps across the board at 704x480. As for network viewing frame rates are only as fast as the internet of course. Does anyone know of a manufacture with better frame rates at a high resolution?
  4. What is the best way to deal with bright sun through windows? I just did a job that has two walls full of windows and the sun in the afternoon is intense and tends to White out the picture. The camera is a day/night 500 LOR .5 lux box camera with BLC which is on but does not make much difference. Is a top of the line panasonic/Sony camera the solution to this issue? I have another job coming up and it's going to have the same issue. Camera looking at entry doors with bright sun in background. Thanks for input.

    Problem with sun through windows

I tryed BLC on and off no difference. It does have a day/night DC auto Iris lens. My guess is spend the money on the Wide Dynamic Pano. I'm going to order one to play with at my shop. I've read good things about the panasonic WV-CP484 so I'll give it a good testing and post some comparison photos soon.

    Siamese cable brand

I've had good luck with Impact Acoustics brands.
  7. It's best to just use plenum rated and charge the extra. I found a local manufacture that I can buy from for about 30 cents extra a foot. Use the best you can to avoid problems..
  8. At double the cost is plenum rated cable needed for siamese rg59 cable runs to cameras if in any type of conduit? EMT, PVC, Wire Mold, Flex tube. I think NEC say's yes..
  9. Is opening ports for remote access a security threat? I heard not to open port 80 for security issues? My DVR needs ports 3000,3001,3003 and 80 (Chance i USA)I have had this from 2 years now and never needed the remote access through Internet Explorer. But do now and I'm worried about attacks through the open ports. They have Network software that I use locally. Should I use this for remote access and do I still need the ports opened? Thanks
  10. Ok after some research I can change the ports anyhow and will change them every so often for peace of mind. Just like you should with your routers wireless WEP keys and SSID ect..
