I just shorted one of my DVRs across TP5 TP6 and how you need to do the short is power down. Put a paper clip or some type small wire or very small needlenose tip plyers to short out these 2 posts. Once you have a good short, keep it there. Turn on the DVR and at the FIRST short beep on booting, release the short and it should reset to factory.

Hi, not sure on your dvr but on others I have dealt with in the past you can try these. 0000 5555 666666 888888 I would try zero's first it may be 4 or 6 digits, but most are all zero's or 8's Hope this helps.

DNS and DDNS (or DynDNS, or DYnamic DNS, or however you want to call it) are two complete different things. If your router did not have a Dyndns client and you wanted to set it up on your DVR, your router IP address would be the right setting to put on your DVR DNS settings (if your router acts as a DNS server), but your router IP would NOT be the right setting to put in your DVRs Dyndns (or DDNS as you say) settings. Thanks, you almost confused me saying the router IP address is used, then router IP address is not used in DVR Dyndns. But I knew what to put in the DVR ddns settings for the Dyndns settings. So I will use the routers IP address as 192.168.3.1 in my DVR's ddns settings area. As you see the area I was talking about, I have the routers IP internal network address 192.168.3.1 Thanks. Ron

Searched this, all I get sometimes is confused, would like to have someone set it straight. I have my DVR set static on LAN so it assigns the same network IP if power goes out and on again. I use the dyndns service paid yearly to update my IP address when it changes, but not 100% sure if the DNS server ip address I am using is totally the correct one to use. The gateway is 192.168.3.1 which is the router gateway and am also using this as the DNS Server which I think is right. when I look in the router I see both if im not mistaking the 192.168.3.1 and dns server from the provider which is something like 72.3.21.6 we will say. So, in the DVR DDNS area for DNS Server is the routers gateway IP address of 192.168.3.1 the correct one to keep ip address changes correct with the dyndns site correct? Or the providers ip address of dns server which is something like 72.3.21.6 One of my DVRs dns server areas has for DNS Server 1 and DNS Server 2 so I put both the router address 192.168.3.1 and dns server2 as the providers ip of 72.3.21.6 just in case. ALSO: which would be better to keep the dyndns updated? Using the routers internal ddns or the DVR ddns to have dyndns update when ip changes? I heard you really dont want to have both set to do this. If any of this dont make sense feel free to ask what else I am missing to make it clear. Ron

No, If a router had ddns area to enter for the dyndns service to update the ip address so if a power outage would happen it would alert the dyndns service of the new ip address change on the web to get access to the dvr remotely. Now, my thing is actually asking if the router does not have ddns to enter, and I had to use the DVR ddns area to update the dyndns service, would the DVR ddns use the router as the dns server address which is 192.168.3.1 I am thinking that dyndns can't tell where 192.168.3.1 is because many people have this as a network address on their routers and I may need to use say the modems dns server that my dsl service provider uses to give me dsl service. Hope that makes sense. Or Is just the gateway which is the router ip address needed 192.168.3.1 and it gets the info needed from the modem to send to the dyndns service to update the changes in my ip address when power goes out.

I just logged into the router and dvr remotely. I love logmein.com it lets me log into the computer remotely. Anyway yes the router does have ddns service area and I have it on and config correct. It also had ddns in the DVR on, so switched it off. This way the router will be the only one to update the ip address changes should the power go out. Now, say my router did not have the ddns area, and I had to set up ddns in the DVR. To update this correctly with dyndns is the gateway of the router used which is 192.168.3.1 in the dns server area in the DVR? This was my main thing in this topic, if the router didn't have a ddns area to do this. Was just curious if this would be the correct ip address to put in the dvr's ddns area.

Thanks Mindtwist, but what exactly is used for the DNS server in the DVR network area was my main question for IP in the dns server section. Would this be the gateway like 192.168.2.1 which would be the router as gateway or my dsl provider dns server ip address or the modem current ip address to enter into the DVR dns server address if the router don't have dns server area? I keep up with 4 DVRs and a couple seem fine updating ip address changes and a couple seem not to update after a power outage or modem reboot. I use DYNDNS paid service to update changes for power outages or when the provider decides to change the ip address. Hope this makes better sense what I am asking.

Looking at their manual if I was looking at the correct manual, it looks like expanding the NAT section and selecting "Visual Server" is where you would go to add other ports to open. Or just go to the place you opened the port 85 you already opened and you should be able to open more the same way you did. I would think you need to open up a port in the router to match the viewing port for mobile devices. I think my dvr has 3 ports to view. One for web one for mobile and one for software

Not sure on these cameras, searched them and when I seen they were listed at Walmart and Bestbuy I would myself tend to stay away from them. I have tried many cameras and spent thousands of dollars over the years on different cameras and DVRs.
