I know the extremeCCTV Camera and the Sanyo Day Night doesnt do that, cant speak for the rest of them.

Why not, XP is XP, would make the machine a better DVR at the least. Would be ideal to get into some hardware also, and design your own GUI. Free Trial: http://www.windowsembeddedkit.com/RegPage.aspx Distributors: http://www.mswep.com/partner_listing.aspx?0000008C=E9uQpOBenz3GoKbs04TTsA%3d%3d

they re cheape than the Kalatel now, i just need to try one to see if it is as good, since they OEM it f rom Webgate which is the same as the Hunt, which is OK, but not that impressive. Hopefully bosche has better network soft, though the screen shot from the PDF looks the same as hunts, just different color ...? In other words if it is the same as the Hunt, but just with the name Bosch, different colored network software, and more expensive, then the Hunt is the way to go, But like i said, i could try it at a clients location, as it is the Name bosch. and then see what its like. Some of you that have unprotected video servers out there, you may want to read this ... also, you can actually do a search on google, it comes back with over 1000 axis servers! (not that i recommend it ofcourse) http://www.theregister.co.uk/2005/01/08/web_surveillance_cams_open_to_all/

i dont have a pen ....

yeah, 50' is fine .. yeah balun at each end. You just use 1 pair for the balun and 1 pair for the power which you join yourself. The Video pair either screws or clips into the balun depending on the make.
-
yeah, just watch the distances. I got 2 different brands of passive Baluns at a site doing 150' and the quality loss and white IRE is off even on that short distance. Im going to have to try doubling up or install an active Cat5 tranceiver. And you cant run 12VDC too far also ..on just 1 pair. Rory
-
something like this .. http://www.seco-larm.com/EVPPT11_C.htm Cant run them long though as you will experience video quality loss as well as other issues. Also, Distance of 12VDC over CAt5 has its limits also, depends on the camera you are using. If you only have 2 pairs (4 wires) then you will only be able to run video and power. Audio can sometimes share the ground with the power. if its one of those jwin type all in one telco camera systems, but not always. Either way not enough wires unless you have 3 pair. or at least 5 wires. Rory

"Microsoft Windows XP Embedded" "Windows XP Embedded is the embedded operating system that delivers the power of the Windows operating system in componentized form, enabling embedded developers to rapidly build reliable and advanced embedded devices. Based on the same binaries as Windows XP Professional, Windows XP Embedded enables embedded developers to choose from over 10,000 individual feature components to achieve optimum functionality in a reduced footprint." "Windows XP Embedded can be programmed using the same tools as the home and professional edition, however the programmer must be aware of the components that are available in the platform configuration." http://www.mpc-data.co.uk/embedded/windows-XPe.htm

gawd its been like 6 years since i last used a VCR, but if you are using the RCA in, then using the RCA out would just work. If you are using RCA in, then TV out to the TV, then it would need to be set on channel 3 or 4 selectable on the VCR ..

Thanks, ill check it out, No they havent even looked at it yet since then. Things are really slow right now, got any jobs up there in the first world

8 or 16ch DVR with CDRW - backup to avi directly
rory replied to goalie's topic in Digital Video Recorders
Hmmm, actually, and Im sure it is the same with some others, with the Kalatels, when you burn to CD, it burns the software also, which is a self running executable that needs no installation. Rory -
It should work, once you are plugging the camera into the RCA input. Rory

The Kalatel DVMRe-CT has a Firewire port also ... plus a CDR or DVDR with the PRO version. Dont know anything about the Sanyo DVRs.

http://www.ge-consultantlink.com/Docs/ktd_125_127_man.pdf check the manual if you havent yet. I dont think it will work unless the DVR supports the Kalatel Protocol. Rory
