Questions, infrared questions et. al
rory replied to stabmaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Sanyo has a good Day Night I used with IR, so thats proven for sure. Ill try to find a link and post it here. Or GE does also have a Day Night for IR, up to 1100nm. KTC-2000DN, little bit more expensive. I didnt use a special day night or IR compatable lens on the Sanyo one i did, but now adays you can buy them so may as well. Basically if you want invisible you will need to check the Spectral Response of the camera you are choosing. The 2 listed above go up to tne invisible IR range. If you dont know, then 730nm would be the IR to choose. If it is a good BW camera, generally at least it should support 840nm. I used the OEM spots and though they claimed 150' they never got close. So I switched to Extreme CCTV IR and it worked - not cheap though, but you get the distance. It could be cheaper to use some normal artificial lighting though, at least initial costs, and use an Exview Color Camera. -
Help with A DVR CARD -= KMC =-

ok just checking. Ill try to get a look at the card on Monday when they open, as that seems the best way to find out. Just down here yah never know, since we are the knockoff land of the west indies, everything comes from china. They have their IT guy dealing with it right now anyway, as well I dont have the time, plus they wont pay me for the time to figure it out. The PC has issues so thats where alot of the time is being spent. Thanks Rory -
Need Help: Converting 16 cam multiplex analog to web digital
rory replied to sportster's topic in System Design
If he is used to the multiplexer system, it would be best accomplished with a stand alone DVR, and you still get all the important features. Check out the GE Kalatel, or the Hunt HVR. 16 channels 160GB. You can always upgrade the hard disk if you are not getting long enough, but 14 BW cameras and on Motion Detection, should easily do 3 weeks at 6fps. The stand alone DVR way will mean it is just Plug, Play and Forget, no hassles and no headaches. Rory -
It would be a perfect mix ... Either way, I guess we have to use their software for this to even work ... so hopefully they will throw in an SDK or ActiveX so we can customise it .. When you get it running let us know .. its harder for us down here to test things out, cost wise we get raped with customs duty!

What you see is what you click - this is pretty cool, anyone know anyone selling this in the US? http://www.eerise.com.tw/panoserver/English/web/spec.htm

need recomendations for DVR setup
rory replied to MamBo's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
He he ..i got 2 way audio on my 4 channel low end stand alone now .. -
Umm, what was that? All cameras will power up using a multiple power supply. What exactly is the problem? Do you want to power them up individually? Rory
-
Well, yes your right. Though all PTZ Cameras should be complimented with a fix camera also. Ill take a look at eyesound, since im not ready to buy from Asia just yet
-
nice video file They have a demo which as far as I can tell, is a non controllable live demo of the PTZ in a presets mode.

CCTV camera connected directly to TV/VCR
rory replied to rwdozier's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
I agree, for sure, 1 is better than nothing. In fact i only still have 2 here at my appt! Keep selling the ones I bring in for myself ... -
No, just a longer distance, and stronger insulation.

Anything over 4 cameras, just doesnt work. Basically you generally will never use the same exact camera, for all 8 or 16 cameras. So i just do some suggestions such as listed here: http://www.bahamassecurity.com/uploads/sales_config.pdf Then I can give a discount if I need to. Ive got a couple extra DVRs to add in there, and probably take off 1 or 2, but its generally the idea. Remember our pricing here is much higher than the US, thanks to Customs Tax. Rory

60pps on 16 channels is still good, using smart motion detection, its great. In fact we still set it to 5pps, and then divide that between the cameras, it is still exceptable, plain and simple. Quality, Stability, Ease of use, and No Maintenance, are priorities in any security system.

Fred, we are on the same page. Though I am also going to offer the PC cards for certain users but they have to be very PC literate, and cant be a job where it has to be fixed "right now" sought of thing .. basically, if they dont need all the PC features, which, not many do, then its a stand alone. actually, there really isnt anything in there ..its the deadest forum here.

http://www.stardvr.com/NOVAVIEW16.htm im getting one of these from a client tomorrow to play with. we're putting in a stand alone AvTEch in stead, only because they dont know how to use a PC really ..plus this one keeps locking up, its running windows 2000, so Im going to wipe it and put windows XP on it ...strip it right down and see how it goes ..their cards are very cheap ..interesting to see what the software is like.

has anyone used the CCTV LCD Monitors, not just a regular monitor, but the ones that are made as such by for example, GE Kalatel, they claim 500TVL. Speco Provideo also has some, and a couple others. Now, not just an LCD with an RCA Input, but the ones with BNC and designed for CCTV.... If so, how is the quality, compared to a CCTV Tube Monitor? I have used other LCDs before with RCA and SVideo but the quality just sucks, They were standard Computer LCDs though. I have a quote and if the quality is good, I want to know whether it is worth selling them. Yes, even though their pricing is off the chain! Thanks Rory

Questions, infrared questions et. al
rory replied to stabmaster's topic in General Digital Discussion
Unless you get some high powered IR Spots you wont get any distance, so doing it cheap, basically wont work ..at least not from the poles you have the existing cameras on. Theoretically, you could use a 5-50mm lens, zoom it in on the lane width, use a good camera with back lighting, or wide dynamic, and then put IR LEDs closer to the lane, just to illuminate the licence plate area. If you have alot of light also, it will work. Also, slow shutter speed on the camera if it allows that. But the camera can only be used for licence plate, nothing else. there is another thread here on IR may be of help also. rory PS..welcome back... -
CCTV camera connected directly to TV/VCR
rory replied to rwdozier's topic in Installation Help and Accessories
yes, depends what cable you are going to use. If you are using an RCA cable, then use a RCA Female to BNC Male, or if using RG59 coax cable, then like you said. Either way, the Video input on a TV or VCR will recognize a CCTV camera signal. -
Thanks Levon. In particular, I am looking at the GE Kalatel LCD 20" and 15" Monitors. I have used $350 Computer LCD Monitors before, with VGA convertors, but the quality is always very bad, I guess my question is, with something like the GE or similar monitor, is the quality much better than the Computer LCD Monitors? Thanks Rory

Help with A DVR CARD -= KMC =-
rory replied to magicray's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Well, what I do for any DVR, is make sure to test the network software first. Look at all the documents you can for them, if they are legit they should come with a PDF online at the least, even if they dont provide a software demo. If you find one, check google and see if others are selling it, check the manufacturer site if you are daring .. and post the brand in here and someone will know what it is .. Also, what is actually good with a PC card, is you can buy a 4 channel card, and see if you like it or not, if you do, then buy another and stack them, for 8 channels, or so on .. OR, if you dont, sell it to a friend at cost and check another one .. We have been doing that with Stand alone DVRs also .. only more costly with the 16 channel versions... cause we cant stack them, then add 45% Customs Import tax and $150 shipping .. well you know ..
