    Board camera night use

Have you plugged it in to see how it looks at night? It might just be a very low lux cam. I have a couple honeywells that are low lux from atms.

Viewing via Tmobile ZTE Hotspot / Ethernet Bridge / DDNS

Ok so there are 2 interesting things to add. I ended up getting a netgear ethernet bridge from best buy (located in the home theater section, the sap trying to help me was clueless and kept trying to sell me an unmanaged switch). It is tiny. Almost like a key chain. Hooking it up was easy and when I connected to the hotspot, I could view the dvr locally. I tried setting up a free dns account, but nothing would work. After searching more about the system, it seems that they have some sort of P2P cloud set up. Unfortunately, I had already left when I read that. So I am planning to go back and set up the bridge again and attempt to negotiate their "cloud server". This is why I love Nuvico dvrs. www.facebook.com/stevethecameraguy
  4. We use ifs ge-ds-802-poe for ip camera installs. It is pretty easy to use and you can pick which ports get poe and how many volts.
  5. Howdy boys and girls, I am doing a small side job and mis-communication has me in a jam. The structure is a small RV being used as a small office. When I was originally talking with the business owner, he mentioned being able to view his cameras from home. I said, "sure, no problem as long as you have internet." He said, "yes, I have wifi." So I went to the trailer to see what I was getting myself into and his internet is a Tmobile ZTE Mobile Hotspot. No hardwire modem or router. I have been looking into an ethernet bridge to hook the dvr (an xvim off ebay) to the hotspot. But I'm having a hard time figuring out the ddns aspect. The hotspot is a dhcp server so it will give the bridge an ip, but will it give the dvr an ip? The dvr has a section to input ddns info (from your choice - no built in ddns, d'oh), so would I need to do anything else to make it work? I dont want to have him buy something that wont work. Thanks in advance... Steve http://www.facebook.com/stevethecameraguy
  6. Hey, I have acquired a few old digiops and really need a manual, or if anyone knows how to network these things for remote access. I have an email in to digiop, but from what I've read, I shouldnt hold my breath. Any help would be golden.

    digiop g2

I know this is an ancient thread, but I'd really love a copy of the digiop g2 manual.

    2 dvr's do I need 2 static IP's?

If you have a separate router you could assign your static to that and fwd the two ports you want to use. hook up both dvrs to it with local ips and different ports and biggity bam.
  9. How about vga extenders with a vga switch?
  10. Flex shaft drill bits? I haven't had the pleasure yet, but I eventually want to run cat5 from the basement to wall jacks in my old house and that's what I'll be using. Typically we do businesses and use rods and tape (and profanities) to fish drywall.

    Issues with baluns

Have any of you guys used the new ethernet over coax or PoE over coax products? An example at http://www.nvt.com/content.php?type=template&key=productfamily&ckey=eoc My boss mostly uses cat5 with baluns now so we can upgrade to ip if/when. Sometimes the baluns are grainy. Sometimes when you wiggle bncs you get lines or distortion. My only preference is with cat5 being lighter on long multiple wire pulls. We do jobs for another company sometimes and they only use siamese. Boy have my biceps gotten a work out on those jobs. Got two tickets to the gun show.

    helping chose a quality dvr

Nuvico Easynet Dvrs are simple to set up and have many features including free ddns service. Supposedly they have the best bang for the buck. Nuvico is all we install so I may be a bit biased, but they are very reliable and straight forward to install.
  13. Perhaps this would work. Get a wireless router that has the range you are looking for, hook the network port of the dvr to it and assign the dvr an ip. This would be your local network. Then connect your mobile to the wifi and enter the ip you set for the dvr. Im sure there would also be a port setting you would have to open on the router. This is purely speculation though.
