Covert Pinhole Lens Focal Length vs FOV

Yes it is possible. For anyone else interested one would need a bigger sensor i.e. 2/3" or 1" according to the formula found on the wikipedia site. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Angle_of_view Cheers
  4. I would like to know is it possible to design a pinhole lens with a high focal length and a higher then its equivalent FOV ? Yes it is possible to have a high focal length pinhole camera as I have discovered from overseas suppliers and designers. But I cannot find out whether you can have the following: 1. Focal length 30mm 2. FOV 25 degrees Can the above combination be designed even at some cost ? Thanks Victor
  5. I am not sure if the question is being asked correctly but are pinhole hidden cameras a type of CCTV camera and do they use CCTV type lens ? I know that CCTV cameras use wired connections to remote monitors or TV screens. Thanks

    Hidden Pinhole Cameras w/IR Capability

Thanks a lot fellas. Your replies have been very helpful. Victor.
  7. Would there be anyone who might be able to put to rest a debate over whether pinhole lens cameras can be fitted with IR capability ? We would like to install these tiny pinhole cameras inside a wall or ceiling inside our residence. So our question is it possible to fit these pinhole cameras with IR and if no it is not possible then what other means can we use to capture the scene during complete darkness ? Please note that we are aware of non-covert cameras which can be fitted with IR LED. Thanking you
  8. Does any know if these types of cameras are considered of the CCTV type ?
  9. We are interested in pinhole lens cameras for covert deployment. Would like to know how to find out what the is the smallest diameter lens possible (or can be designed) which would be compatible with the above sensor ? The reason for this these cameras will be installed inside a ceiling and require that the opening or pinhole in the ceiling be small as possible.
  10. Thank you Kawboy12R for the reply. I did watch the youtube video and it was interesting. I did go to the Axis website and filled out a email submit form. As far as finding an auto zoom feature for a pinhole camera is not possible however what I have found out is that these cameras do have a manual zoom adjustment which can focus the picture of the camera on a particular spot. Thanks again Victor
  11. Thanks MaxIcon for the reply. Your right about about knowing that we do know the distance beforehand we do know what the distance is going to be from the lens to area of interest. However the kind of camera (tiny pinhole cameras) that we are interested in do not have auto zoom capability. They likely will need to be manually adjusted. Also its not likely that we will be able to change the lens of the camera because of the covert nature of the deployment. I think the type of cameras used for license plate recognition is close or similar to what we are interested in. Thanks for your advice its appreciated. Victor
  12. Many thanks for the reply. Can you tell me then what company might retail or wholesale this kind of lens or camera ? Victor
  13. Thanks for the reply. Can you answer this for me...what if the newspaper is stationary and the distance from the camera to the newspaper is always a constant would you still need a lens that can zoom ? Thanks again Victor
  14. Hello. Can anyone tell me what kind of lens is able to capture fine details of a subject in the field of view of the camera lens ? Fine details like being able to tell the time on someone's watch who is standing 5-8 feet from the camera or able to read a document that someone is reading ? I know that these types of lens do exist because security cameras used by Casinos deploy this technology. I just don't know what they call it ? Anyone ? Thanks
