Anyone? Anything? Is this just normal?

When I monitor any of my cameras, either through the nvr or direct. It seems like it plays back so many frames at a reduced rate (smoothly) then it jumps to catch up in time and then repeats. This doesn't happen direct, via pss or gdmss lite on my android phone, even at full rez over 4g. Just on my ipad with idmss. I record my main stream from the dahua security cameras IPC-HFW2100 at 15 fps / 720p and my secondary stream at 15fps / d1. I have a very stable fiber 10/10 connection and this happens even when on local wifi. Thanks to everyone that is reading this, Gilligan

Just curious as what other installers are charging for installs. Say a 4 camera (1.3mp dahua bullet) and a NVR 3208 (room for future expansion), 2TB. All installed with a "basic" install. I know this is subjective to what your market will bare, but I figured I'd get a little survey going.

I was told by a distributor that if I try to use a 3mp camera in the NVR it would crop the image down to the 1080p size vs just reducing the resolution. I was hoping you could just put the 3mp camera in 2mp mode like you can with a regular point and shoot digital camera. Obviously I am ignorant here and I'm just wondering if this information is correct or if someone has messed with a 3mp (specifically Dahua would be nice) in a 1080p mode and still got the same image. Basically I don't want a cropped (zoomed) in image as the lens is perfect for the application, we just need a 2mp version of what would be seen there. Thanks in advance guys! Kevin

Will these lenses work on Dahua cameras? Specifically the 2100 bullet. http://www.axis.com/products/cam_acc/lenses/m12_megapixel/index.htm If they do fit how do they compare to the factory lenses that come on these cameras?

Yeah, I don't get all the hate. It has 6 HDMI outputs... that's a LOT of viewing abilities with 6 monitors. Is it the end all be all best solution for 46 cameras at 720p (which he stated is all he wants in his original post)? No... is it an adequate solution for the right person with the right application? Obviously it must be or they wouldn't be producing any of these. Life is about compromise... I'm sure some of you drive a Honda Civic when you would rather have a Lexus... but the budget didn't let you have that Lexus, so maybe this guy needs to buy the honda civic version of "enterprise" nvr's.

Speaking of, my cameras are displaying one time and my NVR time log is an hour off (need to look into that after I hit send).

I think I'm missing something. Are you "drilling" into this image POST capture? If so then why are you losing the time stamp, put the images side by side or blow them up from the wide in an "animation". If this is blown up during capture (a digital zoom) then you are certainly going about things the wrong way and should do things the right way and get the proper lens (equipment) for the task. Btw, you can order the camera with different lenses most of the time. This brings up a question to TheWireGuys, why are you faulting the manufacture because the end user is seemingly using the gear improperly or at least out of it's scope.

That is correct. Is that PAL, because I thought it was 1080p at 120 FPS.

The last number 32xx (x) denotes channels (how many cameras) you can put on the system. The p means it will have 4 POE ports.

To follow up, they coincidentally? responded to my query today. They only addressed one of my two questions but they did respond.

I never charge for my ignorance on a job I take. Assuming it should be common knowledge for any competent tech.

Odd as it sounds I had problems with my Dahua NVR when I wasn't forwarding 1:1. So I couldn't forward 5580 to 80 or 33333 to 37777. I had to be 5580 to 5580 and 33333 to 33333. Maybe something similar?

Some ISP's block certain ports... port 80 is almost guaranteed to be blocked on residential internet accounts.

Speaking of lenses... anyone heard from M12lenses.com recently? I sent them an email about a week ago (maybe more) and have yet to hear back from them.

Maybe we need to quantify our clients here. I'm specifically curious about residential and small business needs. $1500/cam must be "enterprise" level stuff.

Yep, on to the next issue. I have 3 cameras (Dahua 2100 bullets) that don't want to kick over into BW mode at night. First two definitely could have had plenty of light coming in from the glass doors. But this one doesn't have much going on and yet still won't kick over. I attached a still so everyone can see what exactly is going on. FYI, I've tried with that monitor off and it's still the same.

Oddly enough this morning it was in Black and White and the other camera had flipped back to color already. I'll see how it acts tonight.

Ok this one didn't toggle... But this might be too much light, what does everyone think?

Well... looks like the other cams were stuck as well. Oddly enough they flipped manually before. I'll have to monitor it again tomorrow night.

BING! again! IR's were on... but it was stuck. Flipped things around and nothing was changing. Hit "Default" just to reset two settings vs doing them manually and poof, it snapped into action. I guess I was thinking it was something else since my other two cams that have outside light coming in both did the same thing and I had to put them on a schedule. I am off to play with them to see if maybe they happened to be stuck as well... but I'm pretty certain it's the outside lights keeping them in color mode.

I'm getting this error when I log into my nvr 3208 from anywhere outside the l LAN. Anyone know what this is about? Happening on xp and 7.

Nailed it!!! I forgot that I had a second entry in my NAT table for a camera that I was playing with on 37777 so that one was superseding the NVR and causing the "no disk" error! Thanks for helping me pull my head out of my a$$ and start at scratch to sort it all out!

But this has happened on 3 different systems. Excellent, I was just about to test that theory out for myself actually. Thanks for the heads up.

Hey Dex, thanks for the reply. The thing is I did a 1:1 forwarding of standard default ports and came up with the exact same. 80 > 80, 37777 > 37777, 37778 > 37778 ... this yielded the same error. Yes, PSS and gDMSS and iDMSS as well as IP Cam Viewer (on android) all work with A > B forwarding vs A > A (1:1) forwarding. In fact I'm pretty impressed with PSS and all it can do remotely (pulling in configs and such), so thanks Tom for kicking me in the a$$ and making me install it.
