At a price of $349.00 for a 2-pack, how good can they be. They certainly cannot circumvent the rule of "you get what you pay for," eh?

I would guess that Swann cares only that the camera works with it's NVR. But I care only that the camera feeds a good image to Blue Iris.

What credentials do you possess that entitle you to judge what should be charged for this equipment. You're disrespectful attitude towards people who are trying to earn a living is simply nasty and it is uncalled for. Why on Earth did you feel the need to make it personal. There are a lot of folks here at this forum who sell and install this equipment, and a lot of these folks help you with your questions. You've embarrassed yourself in front of them all zikronix. You do what you think is right, but I'm of the opinion that you should aplogize to all of the hard-working clowns out there. I'm done commenting on this regardless of your reply and I hope you rethink this and do what's right.

I've had two (2) Dahua IPC-HDB3200C 2.0 Megapixel Dome cameras running for a month 24x7. No issues yet. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Of course they did. Swann sells all sorts of Qrap, from door chimes to baby monitors to NVR systems. They want to sell complete NVR systems and they offer extra camera packs for their complete systems. They may have no idea what you're talking about. And they certainly don't want to support cameras hooked up to systems other than their own. If these units are made by HIKVision, and if they support RTSP, I'm certain they'll work in many different configurations. I'll have mine in a few days and will post everything I find out.

Cameras may not be the way to go. Have you, and your neighbor, visited the local police station and asked the police for their advice? IMO, the best location is a top of the line camera in a 2nd floor (or attic) window DIRECTLY across the street from the suspect house. It could be mounted in such a way so that no one in the suspect house would ever see it. I'm thinking of a $2,000.00 camera controlled by good software like Blue Iris. In situation like these you should consult a professional. You're not going to get very good clarity form Costco or Amazon "package deals." On the other hand, sometimes neighbors just need to man up and demonstrate that some folks just aren't welcome in the neighborhood. Or take a collection and pay them to leave.

So the fact that HIKVision software allows configuration. Hmmm. Does this indicate that this hardware is rebranded HIKVision product? I would say yes! Anyone else have an opinion?

Are you getting 3MP out of the cameras?

Your system will be useless if your server or NVR are on the switch that fails. For our network I have two (2) switches, one which services the LAN and a second (identical) switch which has been preconfigured and is on standby. In event of failure I do a manual swap. I also have a failover unit for our firewall; I guess it all depends on how far you want to take it.

Will your camera switch be carrying any other traffic?
