I have both of these cameras, the 3232-i5's IR is much better. I did a quick comparison and posted it over on cam-it. Here's a link: http://www.cam-it.org/index.php?topic=6890.0 It's not a review just 3 quick snapshots with the cameras in the same position (scroll to the bottom of the page). These snapshots were taken with the exact same image settings. No camera was benefiting from another's IR.

I don't have one in that exact situation but I know with just a little light they are excellent so I'm sure they would work well.

I was talking to one of the vendors on there and they said that if I lived in the US he recommends I buy the 2332. Don't really know why unless he just wanted the extra $15. I know the 3332 isn't even on the Hik US website but the 2332 is. Either way I bought the 2332 just in case and it's an amazing camera.

I'm new to this stuff and I don't really know what I'm doing. I've been playing around with different settings trying to get the best picture. This is on a ESC-1 1.3mp camera. This is a screenshot of my current settings. When I change exposure mode to anything other than automatic, the picture is pretty much completely black (at 1/60 you can see a little, everything else is completely black). When I leave it on automatic and change the min/max, i see absolutely no change at all in picture? Can anyone give suggestions on what I should use in these fields? What I'd like to do is to clean up the noise in the nighttime images. Heres a sample image of how the quality looks at night. Theres very little motion blur with these settings. I wouldn't mind compromising a little to clean up the noise. The only light here is under the porch there (and across the street), no street lights etc. I included a shot from day as well. I am satisfied with that, but i'd like better night quality if it's even possible

I currently have am ESC-1 720p camera. It's a fine camera, but I am looking to add one more with a little better quality. I'm more concerned about nighttime quality over daytime. I am considering either the Hik 3mp or the ESC 1080p. Which would be better for nighttime quality in a low lit area? I would think that both should have good daytime quality, as my esc-1 is already excellent in that regard. Thanks for the help

I was looking for similar cameras to what the poster provided above from costco since if it doesn't do what I need it to do I can easily return it. It says it comes with a software cd but it says this as well: Traditional Centralized Surveillance System When connected to an NVR, enjoy the streamlined convenience of having your camera’s video stored in a single, reliable location. A traditional system allows multiple cameras, locally or remotely located, to stream and record footage onto a single hard drive location. As if I need to buy an NVR.

The car would be literally be less than 8 feet from the camera, but I think they're standing out near the road to throw eggs/rocks and just running away. Assuming they're doing that, that's a good 25+ feet.

My car has been getting vandalized a few times over the past few weeks and I need to set up a camera. They seem to be doing it late at night so I need a camera with good night vision to try to get a clear picture. I don't really need a set, 1 should do the trick. I would prefer to get one that I can simply record straight to my computer instead of having a DVR, is this possible? I have an extra computer with a 1TB hard drive that I don't even use anyway. As for price I am willing to spend about $150, maybe slightly more. Any help would be appreciated.
