  1. Is it possible to mount a spectra mini ptz vertically on a wall? I know you can physically do it, but I guess my question is will the tilt limits, etc allow it to work in a fashion to where it's useable? I'm guessing not but thought it was worth asking.
  2. The only way I know is to telnet in using a null-modem cable on serial port 1. However if that doesn't work, then I'm not sure.
  3. Wanted to provide an update to this issue. I was an idiot. Was using a straight through instead of a null-modem cable to connect via serial.
  4. Did you get this figured out? I believe you will need to connect to it through telnet over the serial port 1 and run some install config commands prior to connecting via FTP to transfer the files. This will reset the devices IP address and subnet info, etc.

    Dedicated Micros SD Won't Boot

I think I may have figured out my issue. I was using a straight through serial cable instead of a null modem. I'm guessing that's why I couldn't connect over serial.
  6. Don't mean to threadjack but am needing some help and based on review of the thread there are some experts here. I have a SD32M60/A that I tried to upgrade through USB and obviously must have used the wrong instructions. It hanged during the process and now all I get is a red flashing light next to the IR receiver. I can't telnet into the box and also can't connect via serial. Did I brick it? Is there anything I can do short of sending it to DM for repair? Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm stuck. Thanks!

    Dedicated Micros SD Won't Boot

I know it's been awhile since this post, however I'm having the same issue with my SD32. I tried upgrading it following the instructions, it hang, and now all I get is the flashing red light. I tried telnetting to the box using a serial cable and get no response. Any ideas to get me going in the right direction? This was working great before the upgrade. Uggh.

Dedicated Micros DS2 Add Hard Drive

I figured it out, however it was a bit more than just the normal procedure. You have to ftp in to the dvr and edit a video config file that contains partition information. This one only had entries for C:. Once I added one for D: it worked as expected and now shows that it is using the extra drive.
  9. Does anyone know how to add a slave drive to a M2IP DS2? It has a 500 gb drive standard and I'm trying to add another 500gb drive. I purchased a Startech SATA>IDE adapter, set the jumper to slave. I formatted the new drive in FAT32 following instructions found on another post. I installed the drive into the spare bay and used the slave connection on the main hard drive's IDE cable and connected power. I then booted from the upgrade CD, go to the format option and D: shows up. I select "format", it does it's thing and then reboots. I would then expect to see around 1TB of primary space in the menu screen now, however it still only shows the 500gb and not the additional one. If I go into Disk Management, both drives are listed as 500gb, but the new drive doesn't have the "use for video storage" box checked. If I toggle it on and then reboot, I get the same results and the system even "unchecks" the box on the new drive. What am I doing wrong? Do I need to format all the drives? I was trying to leave the existing setup intact and only format the new D: one. Would that change anything? I've searched everywhere and am not having much luck. This can't be this difficult. Any advice would be VERY appreciated! Thanks so much.

    Pelco Spectra IV surface housing

Thank you. I have 7 of these cams all with the pendent environmental box and dome. I'm wanting to change them all to ceiling mounts and/or surface. I appreciate the response.
  11. Does anyone know if the surface mount housing (BB4-SMB) includes the lower dome? I've been searching around and some ad pictures appear that it may be included. I also found the install guide for that housing and it isn't clear if it comes with it or not. Thanks in advance!
  12. I am very familiar with analog systems however I'm a newbie to PTZ cams and have a really basic question. I am planning to integrate a couple of Pelco Spectra IV analog PTZ's into my setup. I noticed that the Pelco's have on-board motion detection whereby you can configure motion detection areas for each preset. My very basic question here is what happens when the camera detects motion? Does it somehow "feed" that event to the DVR? My DVR supports VMD but isn't that only on IP cameras? Just trying to understand how that works and it isn't clear in the manual for the Spectras. I know I can setup motion detection on the DVR itself, however it would obviously only allow one motion area configuration for each video input. If I have multiple presets on the PTZ tour it would apply the same motion area config to each preset which is obviously not going to work. Thanks in advance for any insight! Chad
