Yes it is an AGP. I hope I don't need to get into my BIOS because every time I try to get in the Bios. It ask for a password. As far as I can tell it has no on board graphics. Motherboard is a Gigabyte GA-8IPE1000-G P4 Titan Series 865PE. Thanks for the help. Dave

Can you tell me which ATI board would be adequate? Thanks Dave

Hooked up a Geovision 800 card two weeks ago. Software version 8.1
Four cameras. Hooked up so far. Replacing my Swann DVR4Net Plus
Here is my problem. When I leave it in quad mode. It looks pretty good. (Small picture) Records real good also. When I take a camera to full screen. It looks bad! I have bypassed the computer with each camera straight into the AV in on my monitor and they look great. I think my video card may not support De-Interlaceing and maybe not Direct Draw overlay either. I can't find anything in the NVIDEA control panel on either thing. My card is an NVIDEA Geforce FX 5200
Computer is a Pentiun 4 CPU 2.40 MHZ with HT Technology
XP Service Pack 2
512 Mb Ram
Gigabyte Motherboard Intel 865 PE Chipset 800 MHZ front side bus.
Here are some samples of what they look like. Anyone have any ideas what could be wrong I would appreciate the info. Thanks Dave

Thanks for the warning! That's a good one to keep in mind.

I would like to add a microphone to my system. I would like it to pick up sound from forty or fifty feet away if possible. One with an adjustable amplifier would be great. Any suggestions? And where to purchase? Thanks for the help. Dave

I should mention that for now I will br using the CRT for my DVR. It has BNC output. All of those on TigerDirrect are VGA input. I have a computer monitor for when I do get the Geo 800 ready. Need onr for the DVR for now. Dave

From what I can tell this is a really good monitor from the medical industry.
Sony PVM-2030 Pro Trinitron Color Video/TV 20" MONITOR
Will it work well for CCTV.
The part that sounds strange to me is the Resoluton 640 x 200 dots- Is that going to be the right resolution for a geovision 800 card?
Here are the specs. Thanks for you help. Dave

Yes I agree with the extra camera on the car. Problem is my Dvr is only 4 cams. It is set to the highest quality. 60 FPS Soon I well get the Geovision 800 and will be able to set up more cams. I will try to narrow down the field of view some for now. Dave
-
Also was just thinking I might miss the view of the get away car if I change the field of view. I'll change it just not to much that I will miss the street. Dave
-
I'll give that a shot. But I really will miss the view of the camera pointing up the street. Also that is not one of my good cameras. So I really do need to pick up another good camera for that side. Probably another Pelco CCC1390. Thanks Dave
Ps Does it make sence that the Gamma turned up would make the snow go away.
-
Was playing with the settings the other night. I changed the Gama setting from the default setting of 45% to 100% and most of the snow went away. Dave

Geovision GV800-8 DVR Capture Card (120 FPS) / GV800CC-8 *NIB*
I'm thinking about buying this card. The price is $300 I think it's used.
Above is the headline for the card.
Questions -
How do I know it is authentic? Is there Some way to verify on Geovisions website?
Is that an older model card?
What does the NIB mean?
This is a PCI card right ? My computer is a Pentium 4 1.2 Ghz. NVIDEA Geforce 5200 250mb Ram
What else do I need to know?
Thanks Dave

Oh yaa. And the purpose of this camera system is so I can identify the criminals who rip me off. Or throw eggs at my cars. So I know whos A _ _ to go kick! Iv'e got a couple of good cameras now. Just wondering if I can improve the playback. Should I switch over to the Geovision 800? If it will look much better or not. Dave

If that's what it means. The answer is no. I have all you professionals from out here helping me. You would be surprised what you can learn from people on a forum. For instance. Four years ago I new nothing about growing roses and trees. But now thanks to GardenWeb Forum I have 80 + roses Seventeen fruit trees and I'm getting pretty good at taking digital pictures. Just check out this link to my photos and see how helpful these forums are. Dave
You might need high speed Internet. There is over 2000 pics.

It took the cops 12 minutes.
And it is a DVR. It may be my weakest link. It is a Swann dvr4Netplus. 400 gig Hard Drive. This link explains it. Can't get many replies to the posting that go's with this link comparing the Swann DVR4NetPlus with the Geovision 800. I have a chance at Geovision800 card for $300 right now. So I'm trying to figure out if it's worth it to switch over. Dave

Still dont know what the term dIY means. If that means junky cameras. Know I have good cameras. Dave

Some kids tried to steal my Honda again. That's why I put up the cameras two moths ago. I had just got home from work and saw them pull up. They should learn not to mess with us night workers!! Next time I'll chase them down with my Silverado that was sitting out front.
Anyway thought this would be a good way to get some input on my cameras. Even though it's just a small video. Just click below for the video.
The two Black and whie cameras are a Pelco CCC1395 and a Panasonic WMV 474 both true Day Night cameras. Thanks for looking. Dave
Ps is there a proper place to put this video on this website? Or somewhwere else on the web maybe?

Was thinking about upgrading to a Geovision 800 card. I am now using the Swann Dvr 4 Net Plus DVR. Question is . Is it worth it? Some of the specs look better on the Swann. Like the display frame rate 480 frames per second on the Swan. The Geovision card only 120. The Swann I can record and view at the same time. Is it possible to view a recording and record at the same time with the Geovision 800? All input would be appreciated. Thanks Dave
Ps I left the links to the two that I am talking about.

Yaaa! Go Marine Core. Pops was a WWII Vet. He fought in all the big battles in the South Pacific. I was starting to think I was on the phone with one of those tech supports from India. Telling me my software disc is bad and they are going to send me a new one. When you know darn well it's not your software! They just don't know what they are doing or dont want to spend the time to help! I remembered from reading another post how you can take a picture directly off your screen. Everything was telling me it was probably my DVR. Looks worse at night . Some day I will get a better one of those. Or a Geovision card. Tomarrow I am going to hook up a better cable. Although it will only be tv cable RG59. Not the copper groung. Just to see if I can get rid of a little bit of the snow. Thanks for the help and encouragement. Dave

This time I took a picture with my digital camera straight off the screen. It is an LCD screen. Does this look like a camera that is not working properly? It looks pretty good from where I'm standing. Not blurry or out of focus. Just a liitle bit of snow. The bright light in the center of the screen is my flash. Is was needed to get an acurate shot. Than I had to upload it to my online storage site. Because this site keeps telling me "Could not access ftp directory: 'attachments/thumbs'. Please check your FTP Settings" Dave

"If your camera don't support bright light conmpressing function, that may caused the picture blurry"
How would I know if it has this function? Maybe it's just a setting. Thanks Dave
