    Some advice would be appreciated

Kawboy, I am from New York.. rruuunnn, Thank you for opinion. I much appreciated it and still need advice from others so I can compare. Henry Beet @ Needs a CCTV Cameras installed.
  2. Hi. I’ve wanted to install security cameras around my house for the longest time now. I’m having a hard time choosing, though. I’m not that familiar with complicated terms they use on Amazon and EBay so I was hoping I could get suggestions from you. I also welcome some advice on what specifications I should look for in finding the perfect CCTV cameras. All I want is a simple CCTV system with around four or five cameras. I don’t want them to record the whole day, every day since I think that it would be very wasteful. I would also like them to be clear enough for me to recognize people (say, someone standing on my porch). Thanks!
  3. With just £400, you can’t get what you expect to. Try finding deals on EBay or Amazon. I got a good deal with a brand called Symetrix but that’s all the way here in Oz and I’m not sure they ship to Manchester (though I think they do).

    Video Editing Software

Adobe Premiere Pro is the way to go /awkward rhyme is awkward I think simple editing (like cutting a certain clip out of a long video) would be okay but you should preserve the original video just in case. As for the microphones, follow Kawboy12R’s link. But why not upgrade your CCTV cameras to record sound as well?

Someone tried to poison my dog!

I think you have to be careful because I heard that some people try and “make friends” with dogs by giving them food so when they try to break into your house, the dog won’t attack them. Anyway, with regards to your motion sensors, I think trial and error is the only way to make sure you get it right. Like what SectorSecurity said, always test.

    Puzzled to find a camera

Wow that sucks. Your best bet is to try and contact Lorex. Hopefully they can guide you through it.

Connecting cables to get longer length

You’re better off with 100’ cables since you can never really be assured of the quality you’d get from just simply connecting 50’s Although it most probably would work, it wouldn’t give you great quality.
