Which of these 2 Systems to go for?

Its disappointing to see no responses on this. I have been debating the same thing. The colorvu technology seems nice but motion seems to blur the colorvu image and the 8mp with IR seems to be pretty sharp at night despite black and white. I feel as though sacrificing daytime mp quality and nighttime motion is not worth color at night time. Whats everyones thoughts?
  2. Sorry havent been online to check posts but I got them unbricked. Dont fix what aint broke is a goods saying unless you consider the lower firmwares do have a lot of security vulnerabilities. I am going to leave them as is but it would be cool to watch my cameras not using openvpn and trust them to be open to the outside world.
  3. So I bricked my cameras but saved them and now I want to try to upgrade them again lol. I have version V5.2.5 141201 and my serial numbers do have CH in them for 2 of my cameras. Now I know the risk of chinese cameras with the 4 hours of my life I lost. From reading peoples horror stories I am curious what is the correct way to upgrade these cameras? Also, how bad is this security update from 5.2.5 to 5.3?
  4. Hi, I changed my http port to 9821 and now I cant access my camera . I type in the browser http://192.168.1.56:9821 but I still cant access the camera. What the heck am i doing wrong? Thanks in advance
  5. Anyone ever heard of witricity? I wonder if that technology will ever make its way to cctv systems. Would make it extremely more efficient to install cameras since you could just use wireless data and wireless power. Completely clean setup!

    license required to install cameras?

Thats awesome. Do you own your own company or work under someone ? I was just learning this stuff as a hobby but it could definately be an awesome business. Its just been hard to find a constant flow of customers so far. I have been listing on CL but thats been somewhat slow and my website looks terrible . If I am going to make this work I need to put in more effort! I figure my day job would finance it as a weekend job and hopefully build it from there.
  8. Hey I was wondering if the state of maryland required a license to install cameras in other peoples homes and businesses? I cant seem to find anything online thats specific enough. I figure usibg poe required using a licensed electrician to run the cables just to be safe but even then yhats overkill with how small the watts is of the injectors I woulf be using. Anyway thanks in advance as usual

Viewing IP Cameras in your home network from WORK!!!!!

I am not worried about the security of the cameras, I am having trouble accessing them at work because I cannot download anything to the computer, hence the reason I wanted the feed to go to a website that provides feed without tools needed. I think the RTSP to RTMP server idea would work but integrating that with 1and1 might be difficult for me. I am interested in this FTP idea tho. http://www.ivideon.com Will probably work for you I am definately going to give that a try . Seems like a great idea. So I dont even have to open any ports because this ivideon account is linked to the LAN as long as computer is on with ivideon server right? Thank you !!!
  11. Hello Everyone and thanks for your help! I have 2 hikvision IP cameras on my network which work great. However I recently purchased a 99 cents a month account for 1and1 own my first website !! I used 1and1 because I hate the security vulnerabilties of running the web server from my house. SO what I was curious about , was if it is possible to stream my ip camera to my website . The catch is at work I cannot download and install anything to the browser or computer so the solution needs to work around that? The camera supports RTSP and I can open the ports for each protocol needed. I used blueiris web server locally and it generated a website which video did not need anything downloaded to view on even my tv's crappy crappy browser and ran perfectly. Is this same solution possible on a website hosted remotely? I am new to website development and this sort of networking so I come to you guys for some help! Phone app works great but id rather utilize the computer screens ha

Viewing IP Cameras in your home network from WORK!!!!!

I don't have Hikvision but my cosiderably cheaper camera has FTP upload built into firmware. Hikviison has ftp as well. What solution are you referring to for ftp? Linking that to website ? I just want to be able to view from work computers . I would not be able to install a ftp client on the computer at work . Plus not sure how live streaming works from ftp given I have only ever used filezilla server and client.

Things to Consider Before Purchasing Home Security Cameras

Well for reliability and for clean methods of powering the cameras I use ip cameras with poe. You need to determine if u want a bullet or dome cameras etc. How many cameras will give total watts that u will need for poe injector. How much ethernet cabling. If u dont want to run ethernet all through ur house u could use direct burial ethernet cable and run outside to where room where router is. Also network bandwidth is important if u r installing a lot of high mp cameras so take that into consideration. What will u record to. This can be a computer or nas or nvr. These will definately hel Pl get u started!

    license required to install cameras?

Thanks for the reply adelmo01. Funny thing is I work for the state haha, but for a unrelated division located right down the street from you on St. Paul! Do you know which state agency in particular I would most likely need to contact for such matters?I will definately ask the fire marshall to see what exactly is required for installing this type of wiring through houses.

    Infrared without the bulbs!

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way to disable IR bulbs but keep the IR mode on for the hikvision firmware or the hikvision ds-2cd2132-i camera itself? I have a ton of IR glare which is really bad . When my spot light comes on the IR looks great but when its just the IR bulbs and no spot light there is so much glare you cant even see.

    Dahua SD6C230S-HN Led light issues

Yea I dont really see a reason why 2 bulbs of six would work for a specific zoom setting? I mean it seems like a compllex setup for something like that to occur when the sensors and exposure settings can adjust automatically or manually. You should definately get your money back and never buy for that place again haha, I never hear good things about that site for some reason .

hello , cool story about 1st install and thank you !

I am glad to see your system actually helped someone , so nice job! This side of technology is becoming more retail everyday so now everyone can afford a cctv solution of their own and even help others afford them.If you dont mind me asking, after the 12 or so jobs you have done, what is your go to dome and bullet camera you use? Also, what was your lighting solution did you go with for nighttime at the church? Welcome to the forum by the way !

    Infrared without the bulbs!

Thanks boogie. DO you know if buying extra IR illuminators and place outside the dome, if it helps to remove IR glare? For instance, like I was saying when the flood like comes on and I keep it on night mode, the IR glare completly disappears and looks great. I was wondering if this same effecft would happen if I IR flood lights or would there still be IR glare form the dome. Sorry if what I am saying is confusing, I can take some before and after pics when I get a chance to explain this .

    Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I Security

I am going to set up a vpn eventually but I waiting to build freenas for that and to store video! I dont want to disable or delete admin , just uncheck the remote privileges (their all grayed out and checked)! Just curious tho , what benefits do I get from opening up a port to vpn server vs just forwarding to camera? Just more security options to keep people out? I have posted on here before about security in general and I think the majority said it was just paranoia so you hit the nail on the head haha

    Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I Security

I was wondering if anyone was ever able to figure out to change administrator settings. When you go in security and add users , the admin account has everything checked when you click modify. Their all greyed out , even for remote configuration. Is there anyway to change these remote settings. I dont want anyone or even myself to be able to change settings outside of the home but hikvision doesnt seem to agree haha. Any ideas?
  25. Hello everyone!! I have been looking into a cheaper solution for recording video from my hikvision cameras. One solution which has been very interesting to me is to try and use a router flashed with DD wrt to record. If you flash a router with dd wrt , it allows you to connect a external usb harddrive to the router to act as a NAS. I was wondering if it is possible to have the video stream to it and record? Has anyone ever streamed a Hikvision camera to a NAS and if so how? COuld be a very power effcicient method to record and the less hardware the better! I have a netgear router which I flashed but I cant seem to find it haha, in the meantime it would be nice to know if this is possible before I tear my house apart tryign to find it
