    Q-See won't format HDD

My old Q-See system died. (RIP), I bought two used DVD players. Both with HDD installed. Q-See gave me the backdoor menu to reset the password, which is now default. OK, when the system comes on, it searches for the HDD, then a window pops saying it wants to reformat that drive. I enter the generic password, and another window saying all data will be destroyed do I wish to continue. I click OK. A window pops showing the format progress. But it remains on 0. After a short time, maybe 1-2 minutes the system go back to start and again asks for password, etc etc. The HDD is coming on. I put my ear down near it I can hear it humming. But not reading or writing as in a computer. The controller board has a green lite on it. And a red light on the mother board where the connection goes to the HDD. I tried several SATA hard drives but they all do the same thing. The system is working, it just is not recording. I think I see at the bottom of the screen the disk is showing N/F. Or not found? But the front panel shows ON and HD. Both are illuminated. Ideas Qsd2304L

    Qsee--Need a password reset

I got it, 123456 Now, the system is asking to reformat the HD, but after putting in the password it loops back to wanting to reformat it again I think the HD might be bad. I will try swapping in another one today.
  3. I bought two older Qsee DVD players to replace my broken down VERY old unit. THe units are QSD2304l I need a password reset. I have no instructions. Tech tells me to push InFo, Menu, PTZ UP DOWN then Enter I get a backdoor menu. I tried to reset the password by taking YES as the option. EVEn though the line says Do you wish to "resume" password. The system reboots. I still cant get in past ADMIN. Any ideas?
