  1. Hi guys, Apologies if this has already been answered but I've searched hard and can't see any posts with this specific model number mentioned. Does anyone know if the Swann NHD-806 IP Cam is a re-branded Hikvision (perhaps the DS-2CD2012-I?) and if so will it work with the Hikvision iVMS software (or could it be re-flashed as a Hikvision unit again?) http://www.swann.com/au/swnhd-806cam http://www.costco.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/cos_10,cos_10.7,cos_1.9.3/162091 Thanks in advance Dave
  2. Hey, I'm the only one that doubted they were Hikvision. Seen a lot of cameras at trade shows that look like Hikvision or Dahua but are not. I figured if you tried SADP and that didn't work, then it's not Hikvision. The problem is, without their NVR, you don't know if it will work with 3rd party software or NVRs. I wasn't having a go ... I really do appreciate you and the other folks taking the time to reply ... I'm an IT Manager by trade and I know from bitter experience that assumption is always a dangerous thing We know now however that these aren't HikVision units and trying to use them other than with Swann NVR kit would be difficult (if I had the time I'd love to to try for fun but hey ho!) Dave
  3. Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to reply, much appreciated. Unfortunately I didn't get chance to do any more investigation before I had to do the install so I guess I'll end up taking the unopened twin pack back to CostCo for now. I have to say however that I'm really impressed with the picture and features of the four I installed along with the 7805 NVR at the weekend ... if I didn't already have my set up I would have seriously considered this set for myself. For anyone in the UK interested, they're on sale at CostCo for £140ish a pair and the 8 channel PoE IP NVR with 1TB HDD and 2 cams is on sale for £450 ... for £600 for a 4 camera PoE system, I think it's a bit of a bargain ... I just wish I could have used them with my HikVision NVR ... never mind! Dave
  4. You know what they say about assumption ... Thanks for the response though, it is appreciated. I downloaded and installed SADP and connected one of the IP Cams to my PoE switch ... it gets an IP address just fine from my DHCP server but SADP doesn't report seeing the device ... it does however see my two Hikvision cams and Hikvision NVR software just fine though As I mentioned above, the camera doesn't offer anything up on port 80 but does offer a SOAP XML response on port 8000 which (all-be-it just a response to tell me a standard GET request will get me nothing! ... HTTP GET method not implemented). I have also bought the NVR to install for someone else so I might just get a wireshark session going if I get chance before I install it to see what the NVR sends to the camera. Cheers Dave
  5. Thanks for this ... not useful for these cams unfortunately but a helpful hint for people to refer to non-the-less. There's no firmware offered for this device ... I suspect they are heavily crippled and will only allow any sort of management through the Swann NVR ... see here: http://www.swann.com/au/swnhd-806cam
  6. Well I bought a couple this evening but it doesn't look like this is going to be straight forward ... no built in web server and it seems the following ports are open: 554 & 6001 : Both give the following prompt in a telnet session: RTSP/1.0 400 Bad Request Date: Sat, Jan 01 2011 01:00:29 GMT Allow: OPTIONS, DESCRIBE, SETUP, TEARDOWN, PLAY, PAUSE, GET_PARAMETER, SET_PARAM ETER 9000 : doesn't seem to give anything back 8000 : Gives the XML SOAP response below in a browser: <SOAP-ENV:Envelope xmlns:SOAP-ENV="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-envelope" xmlns:SOAP-ENC="http://www.w3.org/2003/05/soap-encoding" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:wsa="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2004/08/addressing" xmlns:wsdd="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/ws/2005/04/discovery" xmlns:wsa5="http://www.w3.org/2005/08/addressing" xmlns:xmime="http://tempuri.org/xmime.xsd" xmlns:xmime5="http://www.w3.org/2005/05/xmlmime" xmlns:xop="http://www.w3.org/2004/08/xop/include" xmlns:wsrfbf="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsrf/bf-2" xmlns:tt="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/schema" xmlns:wstop="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsn/t-1" xmlns:wsrfr="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsrf/r-2" xmlns:ns1="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/actionengine/wsdl" xmlns:tev="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl" xmlns:ns10="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/PullPointBinding" xmlns:ns11="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/CreatePullPointBinding" xmlns:ns12="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/PausableSubscriptionManagerBinding" xmlns:ns13="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/network/wsdl/RemoteDiscoveryBinding" xmlns:ns14="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/network/wsdl/DiscoveryLookupBinding" xmlns:tdn="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/network/wsdl" xmlns:ns3="http://www.onvif.org/ver20/analytics/wsdl/RuleEngineBinding" xmlns:ns4="http://www.onvif.org/ver20/analytics/wsdl/AnalyticsEngineBinding" xmlns:tan="http://www.onvif.org/ver20/analytics/wsdl" xmlns:ns5="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/PullPointSubscriptionBinding" xmlns:ns6="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/EventBinding" xmlns:ns7="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/SubscriptionManagerBinding" xmlns:ns8="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/NotificationProducerBinding" xmlns:wsnt="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wsn/b-2" xmlns:ns9="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/events/wsdl/NotificationConsumerBinding" xmlns:tad="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/analyticsdevice/wsdl" xmlns:tds="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/device/wsdl" xmlns:timg="http://www.onvif.org/ver20/imaging/wsdl" xmlns:tls="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/display/wsdl" xmlns:tmd="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/deviceIO/wsdl" xmlns:tptz="http://www.onvif.org/ver20/ptz/wsdl" xmlns:trc="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/recording/wsdl" xmlns:trp="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/replay/wsdl" xmlns:trt="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/media/wsdl" xmlns:trv="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/receiver/wsdl" xmlns:tse="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/search/wsdl" xmlns:ter="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/error" xmlns:tns1="http://www.onvif.org/ver10/topics" xmlns:wsse="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-secext-1.0.xsd" xmlns:wsu="http://docs.oasis-open.org/wss/2004/01/oasis-200401-wss-wssecurity-utility-1.0.xsd"> <SOAP-ENV:Body> <SOAP-ENV:Fault> <faultcode>SOAP-ENV:Client</faultcode> <faultstring>HTTP GET method not implemented</faultstring> </SOAP-ENV:Fault> </SOAP-ENV:Body> </SOAP-ENV:Envelope>
  7. Thanks I don't think it is that model from the research I've done so far but it might work anyway .... Hmmm! Lol!
  8. Thanks for your reply ... the reason I'm asking is that they are currently on offer at a price much lower than I could get the Hiks for ... I currently have a couple of the 3MP Hiks and they're great but want a couple of extra cameras where lower res units would be fine ... I could get two of these for less than I paid for a single 3MP Hik. Dave
  9. Hi All, Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere or I need to 'RTFM' more thoroughly but I've been trying and searching for about an hour or so and am struggling to get Zoneminder to show a stream from the Hikivision bullet I've installed this evening. Does anyone have the settings handy that will allow these cams to work with ZoneMinder? Many thanks in advance! Dave
  10. Thanks for your reply ... I'll look into installing ffmpeg later on ... I'm using the pre-built Zoneminder VM so I didn't have to install from scratch ... looks like I might need to Cheers again and thanks for the screenshot ... a picture often paints 1,000 words Dave
  11. Thanks for this but it will not let me put a URL like this in the Source box. I know the URL works perfectly because I can see the stream in VLC player. When I try and enter the URL like the one you have given an example of below into the source box, Zoneminder tells me the format is not allowed. Here's a Screenshot: When I try and separate this out into source, port and path boxes it accepts (albeit without the auth embedded in the URL ... but then I disabled RTSP auth in the cam (tested OK in VLC)) but won't show the stream. I've now built a windows 2008 VM and have installed HikVisions NVR Server software ... just about to configure but it looks promising! Cheers Dave
  12. Thanks for your reply .. as I said, it does work in VNC so the URL is fine. I think I'll have to build a windows VM and try HikVision's own nvr server software. Cheers Dave
  13. Thanks... I found this info last night and this works in vlc but it doesn't work with Zoneminder. I have disabled rstp auth in the camera and configured zm like this: Protocol: RTSP Remote method: RTP/RTSP Remote Host name: ip of camera eg 10.10.10.100 Remote Host port: 554 Remote Host path: //Streaming/Channels/1 But nothing... I have also tried path with a single first forward slash and no preceding slash. If I try and use the full URL in the host name box it won't allow me to save.
  14. Ahh I think I'll be OK then ... thanks for the clarification
  15. Hi all, This is a fantastic resource and I'm so glad I found your forum so thankyou! Although a relative newbie to CCTV (only so far dipped my toe in the water with a Foscam IP Cam), I'm in need of a CCTV system to protect my home following a recent break in and theft of push bikes. I've spent most of today carrying out research (this forum has been invaluable) and visiting Costco, Makro, Maplin and other consumer electronic stores and websites. I believe what would suit me is either: Swann HD IP cams (http://www.costco.com/Swann-1080p-2-Pack-NVR-IP-Bullet-Cameras.product.100039914.html) but I can't find this available anywhere in the UK??? OR The Dahua DH-IPC-HFW3200S (http://www.dahuasecurity.com/products/ipc-hfw3200s-218.html) I've managed to find the Dahua for £215 which seems to be the cheapest available but then I've found the Qvis APOIP-MB2 (http://www.adata.co.uk/Catalogue/Adata-CCTV/IP-Cameras/BUSINESS-IP-CAMERAS/2MP-IP-CAMERA/2MP-Mini-Bullet-Camera-36mm-Lens-APOIP-MB2) even cheaper and wonder if this is the same camera but rebranded (I've read on some threads this has been the case in the past with Qvis but found another thread that suggests QVis don't rebrand Dahua anymore ) So I though I'd ask the community of experts!! Do you know if the Swann HD IP cams are available in the UK and/or do you know if the Qvis cam is the same as the Dahua cam ... if not the same is it as good as? Very many thanks in advance guys!
  16. Thanks for sharing ... I'm interested to hear what you say about the inflexible brackets ... I was planning to put mine under the eaves but it sounds like that isn't a very good idea
  17. Thanks very much again MaxIcon. I made a number of calls this morning and this is what I found out (for the benefit of other UK based people wondering the same thing as me): Costco UK will be stocking a Swann IP Cam before Christmas but the CCTV buyer was unable to give me any more info (prices/model/dates) as it was early days. The spec sheet for WME is wrong ... the Qvis bullet doesn't have an SD card ... WME believe they are rebranded Dahua units (not certain though) and Qvis didn't know(!!!) so suggested I buy one and try it! Swann's head office line is broken (constantly engaged all day) but the tech support line person I spoke to suggested I call Maplin as they would have a better idea if the Swann units would be stocked in the UK! The Maplin CCTV buyer told me they didn't have any plans to stock them. In the end I went for two of the Hikvision 3MP DS-2CD2032 bullets to get me started ... looking forward to them arriving and getting them installed now
  18. Thanks very much again MaxIcon, I have found one UK supplier selling the Hik 3MP DS-2CD2032 but they are quite a bit more expensive than the Qvis ... certainly something to think about. I think I'll try and give the vendors and perhaps Qvis a call on tomorrow and ask if they are rebranded Dahua units. I'll also give Swann and Costco a call I think and see if there are any plans to bring the HD IP Cam across to the UK ... I don't hold out much hope but you never know! Thanks again!
  19. Thanks so much for your super quick reply ... I realised that I forgot to put the link to the Qvis manufacturer spec sheet ... I guess you found the same Vendor I was looking at and what's really odd is the spec sheet on the vendor site differs from the spec sheet on the manufacturer (or distributor?) site ... SD card is mentioned on one and not the other ... very confusing! Here's the Vendor Spec sheet: http://www.wmestore.co.uk/media/APOIP-MB2_Datasheet.pdf Here's the Manufacturer/Distributor Spec Sheet: http://www.adata.co.uk/files/9f0c7955-b9d9-4f4e-9046-a1db00ef2033/APOIP-MB2_V1.pdf
