  1. Just a heads up....the 5.1.6 firmware appears to have been removed from Hikvision's Europe download portal some time today.
  2. Out of interest I tried installing the 5.1.2 Davinci file on over the 5.1.6 firmware and got the same results as bearclaw. Not surprisingly though, the "Test" buttons that now appear dont seem to work. Pressing any of the test buttons returns an error. Couldn't see any improvement in the Noise Reduction settings which seems to have been broken in 5.1.2.
  3. The European web site has V5.1.2_140116 firmware available for download. Among the new features listed in the release notes is the curious statement "Chinese firmware IP camera will not be able to connect to iVMS4200". This worries me a little as it appears that Hikvision might be trying to delineate between its Chinese based Raptor series cameras and the European/US sourced camera's. I have a set up with 4 x 2CD3332 cameras recording with a PC based NVR running iVMS4200. I hope I'm wrong but hopefully someone will post a link to the v5.1.2 Chinese IP camera firmware on this forum soon.
  4. Although the 5.1.2 firmware was released some time ago on the Hikvision Europe site it has just landed on the USA ftp download site with a more complete release notes. I've installed 5.1.2 on one of my test cameras with the English language patch and seems to work fine but I was pleased to see in the release notes that one of the problems I've been having with my cameras with image alternating Light/Dark in high light scenes has been resolved. Here is the complete list of notes for this release: 1. Add language capability into software capability set and generate with encryption. Return language style when login with SDK and in device capability set 2. Modify the capability set of capture mode. In XML, indexical and indexless capture modes are both offered. SDK is modified in accordance 3. Remove manual white balance setting 4. Add QVGA sub-stream resolution setting 5. Modify the abnormal viewing problem as anonymous accessing 6. Slow viewing under multicast viewing is rectified 7. Describe SML for SDK encoding capability and open the audio encoding capability, so that NVR can get audio only after sub-stream is adopted in NVR. 8. Modify the noise reduction and sharpening parameter. The image effect in night is optimized 9. Balance mode and fluent mode of play library are both modified to self-adaptive decoding modes to solve video stuck problem after image optimization 10. Modify: If device is mounted to CIFS content, device may stuck when sever is abnormal (Reboot of server, deletion of storage array in server), which is manifested as core collapse and thread stuck leading to reboot of watchdog 11. Rectified: When turning on white list of IP filtering, if DNS, DDNS, SNMP, FTP, NTP, SMTP, NAS are not included in IP white list, the related functions may be ineffective. (DDNS, FTP, NTP and SMTP that adopt domain name are unable to be disposed) 12. Modified: PIR, door magnetic and calling alarm cannot send signal to alarm host 13. If complexity of encoding is not correct when starting, it will be modified to default value 14. Solved: Cameras with 3MP may flicker in high light scene 15. Rectified: Abnormal image of 3MP camera sensor under low temperature 16. Solved the stability: Bonjour module collapse and reboot
  5. Do you happen to know if the same limitation will be made in the 2CD2332 version of the cameras sourced from Aliexpress sellers? I understand that the 2CD2332 and 2CD2312 is made for the foreign market and is in full English so that this new firmware update will not affect those cameras?
  6. I was in the market for another Hikvision 2CD3332 camera to add to my existing 4 but when I discovered the limitations introduced in the latest firmware I decided to buy the only slightly more expensive 2CD2332 which I believe is exactly the same product made for the US and European market hence, all in english. I was wondering if once I have the new camera and future firmware updates become available, can I update the 2CD2332 with the new firmware first, extract the davinci file, and dump it into the 2CD3332 cams and get the same result? Its seems to me as though it is the same as modding the file and then reloading back into the cams.
  7. So I wonder if this is a sign of things to come. I'd be very unhappy if Hikvision suddenly decided that Chinese sourced 2CD series camera were only going to be supported in Chinese language. I've bought 4 of these cameras so far and think they are outstanding value for money but I never expected that Hikvision would suddenly cripple the cameras to make them unusable beyond the previous firmware update. I was just about to place an order for another Chinese 2CD3332 on Aliexpress but I will have to rethink the purchase unless this turns out to be a mistake. I did read somewhere that Hikvision accidentally released a bunch of cameras with a test firmware that was in Chinese only. Is it possible this is the same firmware? By the way, did you notice any improvement on night time images as stated in the release notes?
  8. I've had reason to open up my 2cd3332 to see if I could improve the focus but I found that the lens had been glued in position and could not be adjusted. Real pity as I think that the focus on a couple of my cameras could have been made sharper. I have one 2cd3332 that has razor sharp focus and it really produces an amazing picture.
  9. Brought two new Hikvision 2.8mm dome IP cameras from seller on Aliexpress. When I mounted them temporarily to test and find the best mounting location I noticed that one of the cameras produced a very "soft" image on the left hand side then compared to the other camera when looking at almost the same subject. I contacted the vendor and mentioned that I thought one of the cameras is out of focus but the looked at my sample images and came back stating that it was "normal" and that if I swapped the two cameras around I would find the same result with the other camera. Now, when I look at the image produced by my second 2.8mm Hikvision Dome IP camera it is crystal clear from left to right and top to bottom of the image...very good contrast and I can see very fine detail in the trees and grass. The suspect camera is very sharp on the RHS of the image but tends to soft as you move towards the LHS to the point where the definition in the trees and grass is lost. Am I being too picky and is this a "normal" effect. I've attached a couple of samples below....CAMERA 1 is the good camera....CAMERA 2 is the suspect camera. Appreciate any feedback. https://www.dropbox.com/s/q25glxui64hp02i/Day%20Time%20Camera%201.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/hts2qaa6r6zquqr/Day%20Time%20Camera%202.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/j3ohdo80j4wwe4h/Evening%20Camera%201.jpg https://www.dropbox.com/s/qsulnzu3kvrkwdw/Evening%20Camera%202.jpg
  10. Can confirm the update worked from the Web interface for my Chinese 2CD3332 cameras. Thanks to "thesillym" for the links. Very much appreciated.
  11. Its from the US FTP site....its an official version. I have a chinese 2CD3332 so that should match up with the Raptor 2xxx series firmware which is what I have used for the last three firmware updates. Incidentally, I finally got the 5.1 update on but I used the link provided in another post which claimed to be the 5.1 Official Chinese firmware. I used the Web interface to do the update this time from 5.1 BETA to 5.1 Final and it worked. I now have 5.1 Official (Release 131202) on my Chinese 2CD3332 cameras. Not sure what is happening with the US and EURO versions.....I hope that its not a case of the firmware update being blocked. Previously I used the TFTP method to update my cameras using the firmware on the EURO site. I hope I'm wrong otherwise this might be last update I can do for my cameras unless the Chinese versions of the firmware become available.
  12. Is anyone else having the same problems with the official release of the 5.1 Firmware. I was running the 5.1 BETA on 4 of my Cams (Chinese 2cd3332) without any problems but this new official release of 5.1 does not work for me. After flashing, the IR LED stays on solid and I cant connect to the camera. Using the SADP software does not find the camera at the default address of 192.0.0.64 or any other address. Would be pleased to know if anyone has solved this problem.
  13. I would be nice to know the source of the files since the US site still only lists 5.1 beta. I have used the beta without issues but failed to get the firmware sourced from a Russian forum in another posting to work. Are these official releases?
  14. Just noticed that Hikvision has released a new official firmware for the "Raptor" series of Megapixel IP Cameras. http://www.hikvisioneurope.com Namely for the 2CD series of cameras. I have the OEM verision of the 2CD2332 so I cant install it on my camera but might be usual for someone else. No release notes with this one so no idea what has been changed or added.
  15. After much consideration I decided to ship it back. For some reason the focus issue really shows up much more pronounced when viewing the Sub-Stream. When looking at the two cameras (good / bad) side by side on my Ipad or Iphone the out of focus camera just looks terrible. The picture is a complete blur. For some reason the sub-stream seems to suffer much more due to the poor focus than the Main Stream does. Also, when using the digital zoom to zero in on part of the picture you really seem the difference that the focus makes. With the good camera, I can use the digital zoom to read a number plate on a nearby car....with the bad camera, the number plate is illegible. I think its worth the $25-$30 to ship it back even though its about 20% of the original cost.
  16. I discovered that the VLC and MPEG renderer options only show up under Firefox but not under Internet Explorer (at least version 11 anyway). When I tried Firefox all four options were available however, selecting the MPEG option returned a Username/Password dialogue box and something about API?? Might be unfinished portion of the firmware. Incidentally, I also tried the link to the Russian Hikivision site with the alleged 131202 build 5.1 but after loading on my camera, the camera would not start up...the IR led just stayed on and not much else. Could not get the SADP software to see the camera. Fortunately, I was able to use the TFTP method to restore the camera to working state with the 5.1BETA. Can report all stable so far. Now installed on four 2CD3332 cameras.
  17. That's interesting because the 5.1 BETA that I downloaded from Hikvision.com only lists Webcomponents and Quicktime as the only renderer options. What version are you using and where did you source it may I ask?
  18. The option to turn off the IR Led's independently of the light sensor is there....its under the System -> Service TAB. I haven't tried it yet....still daylight but I didn't really need it either. I don't use a NAS to record so I cant test if there has been any changes there either...maybe someone else will try. So far stable....no issues that I've come across. Forgot to mention....I have the Chinese domes....
  19. Thanks for the link....ok, so I jumped onto installing on my spare camera because I made the mistake of updating to 5.0.5 and it was a big dissapointment. This is what I have seen as the differences in the few minutes that I played with the 5.1 BETA firmware. First of all, the Webcomponents activex stopped working under 5.0.5 for Internet Explorer 11....it seems to be working now. On the last firmware I could only get it to work under Firefox. New settings and changes are as follows: LOCAL CONFIGURATION --> Live View Parameters --> Image Format - (JPEG / BMP) LIVE VIEW You now have a dropdown box where you can selection either "Webcomponents" or "Quicktime" as the video renderer. BASIC CONFIGURATION --> System - Encoding Version has been updated to 5.0 Build 131127 --> Image - Settings have been grouped into drop down menus. Everything looks the same expect the GAIN setting has been moved from this menu and a new setting added under VIDEO ADJUSTMENT group called "Capture Mode" (ON/OFF). ADVANCED CONFIGURATION System --> Service - New Tab appeared that contains two settings "Enable IR Light" and "Enable Telnet" Both are selection boxes only without any other parameters. Assuming the Enable IR Light allows you to over-ride the internal light sensor. Can confirm that can also Telnet into the camera with the Username/Password that gets you into the Web interface. Network --> 28181 (A new tab with a bunch of settings for 28181 protocol. Not familiar with this. Maybe someone could enlighten me.) Events --> Motion Detection They have added an extra configuration option (NORMAL or EXPERT). It appear normal allows only one bunch of settings for all regions but the expert mode allow the option of different sensitivities for each region plus allows selection of Day/Night switch ON/OFF by region?? STORAGE --> Storage Management A number of settings to allow setting of Quota Size Capacity for % of Pictures vs % Recording (by default its 25% Picture and 75% Recording). There might be more but I haven't found it yet. Some more testing over the next couple of days to see if it finally fixes my problem with the image alternative "Bright/Dark" in high brightness situations outdoors. Lets hope so.
  20. Can't find it anywhere. Any chance of providing a link?
  21. Hope this helps. First image is of a courtyard area where the only light is from the camera IR. Camera has a 2.8mm lens giving it about 90degrees field of view. https://www.dropbox.com/s/d8t1skirwdgl00m/Hikvision%202CD3332%20Demo1.jpg The second image is a front driveway with a very small amount of external street lighting. Camera has a 4mm lens giving it about 74degrees field of view. https://www.dropbox.com/s/g5vq6in0vmfeyei/Hikvision%202CD3332%20Demo2.jpg Id be interested to see images of the problem you describe.
  22. I'm really surprised to hear that. I have the equivalent Chinese version of that camera (ie. 2CD3332) that does not exhibit any IR bleed issues. In fact the very reason I purchased these cameras was because this type of design where the IR is separate to the lens housing cant' have IR bleed issues unlike just about every dome IR camera that I have tried up until now. I have both the 2,8mm and 4mm lens cameras. I tried one of each to see which were going to be the best for my application and I really liked the field of view that I got from the 2.8 mm lens so I have ordered two more. The night time images are reasonable for the grade of camera but I definitely don't' see any IR bleed. I'll try to post a couple of images.
  23. My camera vendor has finally come back with a response saying that this phenomena is "normal" for this class of camera. If I don't want the image to flash bright/dark during sunny days that I should be buying a camera with HLC (High Light Compensation). Can anyone tell me if I'm being fed a lot of bull? I don't think HLC should be necessary to prevent a camera from having this problem. Surely the camera should be able to cope with normal outside sunny conditions without this effect? Is anyone else with Hikvision 3MP "2CD" series of camera's having the same problem?
  24. Ok so I've tried a few changes to the settings including turning ON the BLC (Centre) and still no joy. Tried contacting the supplier to see if they can offer some advice. I will try resetting the camera to defaults and installing the 5.0.5 firmware but I suspect they will do little to improve the situation. I recall having a similar issue on an analogue dome camera. Can't recall why/how the problem finally went away.
