  1. Hey guys- Have a Hikvision Dome Camera. It's been setup and working great for about 8mo now. All of a sudden, I get a black screen and this error in iVMS-4200: Live View Failed. Error Code 24. The Channel is unavailable. All my other cameras are working and functioning fine. I've searched this, and other forums, but not finding a solution. Any ideas on how to get it working again? I would check my browser portal- but can't get my login/password to work, need to search the forum to figure out how to reset that, too... Thanks in advance!
  2. Hey guys- Hopefully a quick newbie question here- running iVMS-4200 on my PC. However, I have a Hikvision NVR setup and connected to all my cameras. I thought I had it configured correctly, until my local drive on my PC maxed out in space after a few days. It seems that the Saving Path is pointed to my local PC. How do I point it back to the NVR on the network? by IP Address? The NVR has 2 drives in it- I assumed that it would know that, and span the data across both drives, and then re-write over it when that space ran out. Is that not the case, do I have to manually tell it to do that? Thanks for all the help!
  3. Thanks for the reply guys. Maybe I'm just not making myself clear, here... The cameras, recording schedule, etc- is all configured. Exactly the way you guys suggest. The problem is, it's saving all recorded video to my Desktop PC and not the NVR. NVR is NOT beeping, shows both hard drives installed (one is sleeping), everything looks great. It records video just fine. I can play it back, it replays just fine... But if I go to the C: on my PC- delete out the saved videos, there's nothing left to playback (because I just deleted the video clips). Again, it's not saving the videos to the NVR- it's saving it to my PC. I've checked all settings in iVMS and Web Browser- both looks exactly the same. Any ideas?
  4. So- here's the deal- YES, I see both menus- one for Local Config, one for Remote config. What I Don't see is how you choose one method over the other? I've configured the cameras, system, etc etc all within Remote Config menus. Yet, the system still records to the PC HDD, and NOT to the NVR. So, again, if there's no option to specifically tell it which you want (local or remote), how do you get it to switch from Local to Remote, or vice-versa?
  5. I'm in the Remote Config. Which menu option tells it to STOP recording locally to my PC, and record to the NVR instead? I don't see that option ANYWHERE. I've attached a screen for you. Not sure which menu option specifically you'd like to see under the Remote Configuration section...
  6. Right- so on the configuration tab, all I can do is navigate to a LOCAL folder for my storage options, which is exactly what the NVR is doing. How do I get it to actually store is on the HDDs inside the NVR instead?
  7. HA! Yeah, the whole idea is to run the NVR WITHOUT hooking up a monitor- but network into it via iVMS or the web. Apparently, it's not possible. I did read the manual- it really only gives instructions for setting it up on the NVR itself. So, I guess I have to hook up a monitor to the thing, THEN network into it later. Then, I guess I have to do it all over again if the power goes out... unless there's another way?
  8. Nope- that doesn't work. It doesn't let me type URLs in, can only click the Browse button. Any ideas? Thanks guys!
  9. So I feel like a total idiot here. I gave up on iVMS because I couldn't get it to stop recording to my PC harddrive, instead of the DVR HDD. I now access it via the web browser- and it's saving all my files on my PC! I can go into the configuration screen and tell it where to store them- is there a way to direct it back to the NVR itself? Do I put in the IP Address for the URL on the Config screen? I'd appreciate any help you can! Thanks!
  10. ok- I'll give that a shot. Thanks!
  11. Right. I didn't like various issues I was having with connecting in the browser. So are you suggesting just ditch iVMS and connect solely thru the browser?
  12. Thanks for the reply! Oh man, I didn't know that. I setup iVMS thinking it connected to the NVR (which I did during setup) and then controlled the NVR. The NVR is setup in a closer, mounted high on a wall where I can't even get a monitor in there. I thought I could just control the NVR from the network via IP address or iVMS. I guess that's not the case? What do you suggest?
  13. Hey guys- Just getting my system all setup here- have a Hikvision NVR and all Hikvision IP Cameras. My dome camera (Hikvision DS-2CD2732F-I(S)) I have mounted over the front door isn't quite able to give me the view I'm looking for. There's a small entry way in front of the door that's about 6'x6' or so, but the ceiling I need to mount it on is about 9-10' high. I've messed with it for hours, and just can't seem to capture the entire area, including the subjects' faces. I've moved the camera over to the corner to try to maximize the view, but it's just not enough. Do you guys know of a Hikvision (or compatible) camera that can give a wider field of view so that I can fit it all in? I appreciate the help!
  14. Cool. Didn't know there were lens charts... couldn't find one on this site- but another site shows I would want a 2.5mm (or less) lens, to give me the widest angle possible. The camera I have right now is a 2.8mm. I looked on Hik's website- but didn't see anything that low. I don't know if there's other brands compatible with the Hik NVR or not. Suggestions? Thanks for the help!
  15. Thanks for the replies. I have. IE and Chrome w/ the IE Tab. I think it's odd that I can't even save it in the default values, without getting a Parameter Error message.
  16. I just setup my Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/8P. I'm accessing it via browser. When I try to set the correct time, it gives 'Parameter Error'. Even if I don't change anything, and I check the box that says 'sync with computer time', it gives the same error message. Any ideas on how to fix this?
  17. I believe so. I'll test it again... Nope- still nothing. So- with recording off, if I go to the Time Management section, and just hit save without changing anything- it gives the error. Of course, I get the same error if I try to turn off daylight savings, change the time, etc etc. Any ideas?
  18. Hey guys- Just got my system setup with a DS-7608NI-SE/8P NVR and (6) IP Cameras (Hikvision). I've logged in and configured the system by the browser- and then thru the iVMS-4200 software. First thing I noticed is that the settings don't transfer between eachother. I've noticed some pros/cons to each one- is using one better than the other, generally? I'd prefer to go thru the browser (although I can't get it to work with Chrome or Safari- grrrrr!!!), but depending on my first question, I have a ton of other questions lined right up next! Thanks for the help, guys!
  19. Thanks for the reply! I'll give this a shot today.
  20. Hey guys- I hope this is the right forum for this topic. I have a Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/8P NVR, and several Hikvision cameras. I want to hook up the NVR in the same room as my main computer and be able to watch any of the cameras via my main PC as needed (ie- not use a monitor/mouse hooked up off the NVR itself). Is there a way to run a separate network cable from the NVR directly to my PC to do this? I'd prefer not to run it through the internet, if it's possible- but will settle for that option if I need to. I DO have a 2nd NIC on my PC if I need to use that. What's the best way to set this up? Thanks guys!
  21. Hey guys- I have a some 3MP Hikvision bullets and a dome. I've been running them off of a POE switch to my server- but am having constant server issues and just can't keep spending time on it. I use the server for other things- so when it updates, goes down, etc- I lose the cameras as well. I want to switch to a dedicated NVR system. Requirements- 1080p on all cameras real time viewing via web/smart phone (iOS) Ability to add additional HDDs easily, with enough capacity to expand to multiple drives. I plan on adding additional cameras too (just a few). I'm thinking 8-16 channel NVR for sure. What's a decent NVR right now, for a decent price? Are there any good features that I'm not really listing here? Thanks for the help!!!

    NVR Suggestions please?

In case anyone is interested later- I'm going with the Hikvision DS-7608NI-SE/8P 8 Channel POE Plug N Play Hi Def NVR Recorder from Nelly's. Seems to be perfect, with a fair price. I'll let you know once it's all installed and running.

    NVR Suggestions please?

Seems like the DS-7608NI-SP is the way to go. It has 8-ports POe on the back, no switches required, and full 40MB Bandwidth. Your thoughts?
