  1. I have some hikvision cams from late 2013/early 2014, bought from aliexpress. One dome DS-2CD2732F-IS, two bullets DS-2CD2032-I. Firmware 5.0.2, English included, even the osd day of week. In the serial number i see the code CCRR, i guess this fw is based on some Russian hack that allows the English language in chinese fw cams (this is a wild guess based on some posts i read here and there). Also, when i login i can pick 5 languages in the small scroll down menu, two Chinese (i guess Mandarin and Cantonese), English, Magyar and another in cyrillic that i guess is Russian, so that makes sense. I want to update to a newer version of firwmare, after reading some posts i am well aware of the fact that the cam is going to turn to chinese only, and that i could brick it if i use the wrong firmware. I still want to update because i need some features in the latest firmwares. So here is the question: what's the best way to go from this point? From what i gathered so far, the idea is to upgrade to fw 5.2.5, and then use some of the hacks posted in this forum to switch back the interface from chinese to english. First problem: i cant find the 5.2.5 fw. I dont find it in hikvision.com and i guess i cant use the firmwares from european or american hikvision site? Or is it the same? Maybe i can even find the 5.2.5 fw if i look better but how do i know whether it's for the chinese or euro/usa cameras, in case it matters? And last question, which is the best hack to use to switch back from chinese to english once i manage to update to 5.2.5? Any other advice are well accepted, thanks in advance!
  2. Hello, i have a couple Hikvision bullet cams from China, model DS-2CD2032-I, and a dome model DS-2CD2732F-IS, both with firmware 5.0.2 130805, the original one i had factory installed when i bought the cams, in English. Never upgraded it myself. I guess it's about time for an update now, lucky me i checked this forum before downloading and installing, because if i understand correctly, the cams would have turned into chinese language and now way to go back unless doing the tricks explained in the original post. Now i was wondering... it's there any suggested way for me to go from 5.0.2 to the new firmware (i think last one is 5.3.0) and keep english language?
  3. Hello, iv been looking for a dome cam for my home entrance and narrowed down to Hikvision brand after few advices i got in this forum. I have pretty much a clear idea of all the features i need, i was just wondering about this feature and which model is capable of this: Id like to communicate to the cam from my iphone, like if it cam was a video-phone, is that possible? So i need audio in and out. I see some apps for iphone and android have this feature, but im not sure which cam is better for this. So far i cabled the spot where i want to place the cam, i only have the Ethernet cable so far (i intend to use POE), but i can eventually add other cables if really necessary (i hope not). I dont need great quality, and i'd prefer a model with integrated speaker and microphone, even if the quality of audio is not going to be that good. Eventually it's ok to add some external microphone, not so much an external speaker because i'd need a power source for that and it's quite complicated to add one in that spot, unless the external speaker can gather the power from the cam. Any ideas? Even a different brand, but i'd like to stick to Hikvision also because my other cams (bullet) are going to be Hikvision (btw i dont need audio for the bullet cams). Thanks a lot for any suggestion.
  4. Hi, im trying to set up some IP camera with POE support (at least, it's supposed to support POE...), but it doesnt work with POE, only with normal power. First, i got this Switch with POE support, some D-LINK DSG-1210-08P, with 8 POE ports: http://www.dlink.com/uk/en/business-solutions/switching/smart-switches/smart/dgs-1210-series-gigabit-smart-switches Then i got one of these chinese cams from a local shop to try: http://nyro.hk/IPH-WB3110.html At least i think that's the model, no much info on the box or the manual, just the IPH-WB3110 code on the cam, and it looks exactly like the one in the link above. And there isnt a power supply, on the cam there is a rj45 connector for the ethernet cable, some other cable with a reset button, and another cable for DC power in. I hooked up the cam with the ethernet cable to the switch, but nothing happens, even the light on the switch on the correspondent connection doesnt turn on, the software that comes with the cam doesnt find it (i configured the network to be on the same subnet, im quite expert on networking, not so much on cams), The cam didnt come with a power supply, so i grabbed one of my universal power supply, i set it at 12v and connected it to the cam, after a while (boot time?), the light on the switch turned on, and the software on my computer found the cam, i can connect to it and see the stream, everything seems to be working fine. This is the first time i get a poe cam, (or any kind of surveillance cam, for that matter), i thought it should be straight forward and work out of the box. At this point either the cam does not support POE or im missing something. I checked all the configurations in the switch and all the POE related settings seems ok, all the ports are enabled for POE and everything else seems fine. Am i missing something? Is there something particular i need to set to get POE to work? Or most likely is the cam that doesnt suppor it? It say "POE optional" on its website page. Also i have another question: to see the stream of the cam i have to connect to the cam using the browser (in my case firefox), then it downloads a plugin from the cam and after installing the plugin i can see the video from the cam, but i would like to watch the video also from my iphone and/or my android phone, i have this app called LiveCams Pro for iphone where i can set up a cam but i dont know what kind of cam to choose from, there is a long long list on the app but i dont know what kind of compatibility my cam has, or if it has any for that matter.
  5. thanks mate! I'll go that route, it's surely better.
  6. Hi, just to say that it turned out the cam was missing the POE module, the guy from the shop tested his owns (from the same shipment) and he had the same problem, POE not working. He doesnt have others at the moment, so im back to square one, guess im going to check out the Dahua or the HikVision suggested by buellwinkle, they look to have all the perks im looking for and also in my price range, also reading good reviews. I need a dome model for my main entrance and a 3-4 bullet cams to use around the house, to cover all the angles. I checked on amazon.it (i live in Italy) and found this one for the dome: http://www.amazon.it/Telecamera-1-3MPX-Dahua-HD2100-Megapixel/dp/B00DVH22RS/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=SJF1KF8GA5QH&coliid=I3GG9TKOT8YZZE Meanwhile im looking for some bullet cams, havent found much on amazon, im going to look on other sites too later, the point is that i have to buy from Italy or EU so i can deduct some costs from the taxes, otherwise ordering from China i could get some better prices i think but i would lose the tax deductions, but it's not worth the hassle considering that. I found this chinese cam on amazon http://www.amazon.it/Huacam-bidirezionale-millimetri-supportati-Supported-Iphone/dp/B00F1SRJAU/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=SJF1KF8GA5QH&coliid=I3BXIWPK68KEBL Very cheap and it has all my needed options, any opinion on this one? Better part is that it's sent by Amazon so i wont have troubles to send it back and such in case of problems. My idea is still to get a Dahua or HikVision though, considering they're well tested and most people speak highly of them.
  7. Thanks guys, yeah the "optional" part must be the problem... But being new to this field, i had the doubt that i was missing something and there was some hidden config somewhere, either in the switch or the cam. Thanks again.
  8. This is the POE settings page (or better said, the two pages pasted together in one image) from the dlink switch: It looks like it is possible to open up the case of the cam, but im not sure i want to do that, most likely im going to return the cam to the shop so i dont want to tamper with it too much. I got it from a local shop to test it because being the first cam/poe settings i build, i didnt want to deal with shipping back stuff and such if something doesnt work. Not to mention i need a cam with iphone support and i havent figured out that either, yet, for this cam. Any suggestion for a cam with POE support, iphone/android support, outdoor, IR and motion detection, and possibly not too expensive? Anyway thanks to you guys for all the help, very appreciated.
  9. No i dont see any option to force the power on it, i will post a screenshot of the poe settings page when im back home (im on iphone), but im pretty sure its not possible. I know the switch supports the 802.3af standard though.
