  1. And now the real work begins. The system will probably be here next week sometime. The kit comes with 100 foot of cable for each camera. What kind of quality is it? Should I just figure on replacing it with good stuff?
  2. Well thanks and away we go.....
  3. I understand this has been covered 762 times however. After searching the posts I believe this to be the best system in my budget that will do what I need. http://www.costco.com/Lorex-8-Channel-Stratus-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-6-1080p-Cameras.product.100048586.html Before I plunk down my plastic are there any better deals out there for this level? I am reasonably proficient at computers and a buddy of mine is a network guru so we should be able to handle the install. That being said I would rather have a kit with with all the product preselected than buying the cameras and nvr individually. Thanks in advance for the help.
  4. I see a couple of different ones in my price range. Trying to get a feel for what is out there. this one http://m.costco.com/Swann-8-Channel-3MP-NVR-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-1080p-Cameras.product.100058520.html and this one http://www.costco.com/Q-See-8-channel-HD-SDI-Security-System-with-2TB-HDD-and-4-1080p-Cameras.product.100041369.html The swann system has 3mp cameras but I cant find what the q-see cameras are rated at. Also the swann cameras have a lot more range at night. But I hear the q-see is better quality?
  5. Hey are you taking pictures of my neighbors? Lol yeah you got it but think more of the waking dead.
  6. I am just getting into this field out of necessity. I have a shop out in the woods on 2 acres. Recently, in the last year a group of tweakers has moved in next door. I have worried myself silly about them and last Wednesday night they finally struck as I feared they would. I was lucky they didnt get much and I was able to recover most of it. I have 2 big dogs but tweakers never sleep and they can slink onto the property without waking the dogs. So what do I need? I have seen the systems at cosco and best buy etc, But if I get one I need to be able to identify their faces. Also it needs to be able to integrate with a alarm system. I have no problem installing everything my self with a little technical help.
