  1. Hi SunnyKim, thanks for your reply. You all guys are right and appreciate your help a lot. However, no one guides me by giving me some links/guidelines from where I can buy such dvr. As I said I am new in this area and don't know much about it. I searched Internet and read and understood about the importance of frames/sec, CIF vs D1 resolution etc. I just can't find a good product to buy (on ebay or amazon UK) or they are too expensive. If you are aware of any dvr or full kit in my budget please let me know. Thanks again
  2. After a short search I did, I see that most dvrs with D1 resolution @ 30fps on each channel are too expensive and don't think I can afford them. I was thinking of buying two separated 4 channels instead which will give me 25fps at each channel on 5 or even 8 cameras. I will just need two different monitors which is not really a problem. I know, that's not the best solution but it could fit to this case I guess. Anyone can think of any reasons that this approach would be a mistake?
  3. Hi tomcctv. I can afford up to 400GBP for a dvr and up to 600GBP for a full system along with 5 cameras. Thanks both for your help
  4. shockwave199, thanks for your reply. I see your point. A 25fps would be enough for each camera on a 4 channel dvr. But if I go for more than 4 cameras then I should make sure to get a dvr with D1 30fps recording on each channel. Could you suggest any dvr from ebay/amazon uk? I am new to this and wouldn't want to make any fault.
  5. According to Qvis DVR description here says that 8Channel DVR recording is 25FPS on 1 channel, 6FPS on all other channels. So, even if there only 4 cameras installed on the 8channel DVR, the video recording would be 25fps for one camera and for the remaining 3 cameras would be 6fps? And what about if you install only 5 cameras? How the frames would be distributed? I am really confused Anyone could help would appreaciate.

    Urgent! Suggested DVRs?

Hi all, I am struggling into finding a good cctv dvr (and cameras as well). Receiving minimal help so far and still being struggled and new in this area I kindly ask for help from anybody who can point me to some websites for buying a good cctv dvr or even better a full kit with cameras. Sites can be any ebay, amazon or any other official well known company in UK. I can afford up to 500-600 GBP for a 4channel or 8channel. I would be grateful if you could help me out with this. Thank you!

Hi qrcctv, thanks for your reply. I am both end user and installer. I am really new in this area and don't know much about it. Could you give me some links of any suggested cameras or cctv kit? I would appreciate it.
  8. Hi guys, I am on the way of building a cctv system and have to pick some high quality cameras to install on the dvr (whic probably will be a Qvis one). Could you give me a hand over here? CCTV Dvr - HDMI vs VGA output?

Hi tomcctv, thanks for your reply. As I see from your answer, HDMI output would not make any difference on the video's quality. Am I right? Is Qvis well known out there? I have not so much experience on these stuff And you are right, the other one doesn't seem to have any trademark at all!
  10. Hi all, I would like to know if a dvr with HDMI output would give a better picture than a dvr with VGA output. Considering that the video input is BNCon both DVRs and not HDMI. So, if you connect a dvr supporting hdmi output to a full HD monitor would the image/video you get be better than the dvr with VGA output? DVR examples to compare: Qvis (HDMI supported): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/HDMI-DVR-Qvis-4ch-960H-BNC-VGA-cctv-video-recorder-1TB-Hard-Drive-1000GB-HDD-/271329794360?pt=UK_CCTV&hash=item3f2c841938 Domar (VGA only supported): http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/4-Channel-CCTV-DVR-Domar-Video-Recorder-Camera-D1-H264-320GB-2TB-HDD-/171046434658?pt=UK_CCTV&var=&hash=item6d7d6d9092
