  1. If I was to get one of these in 12mm is there any difference in image quality between these two models? Only main difference I can see is one uses longer range IR led. If everything was the same except the IR led, I rather get the DS-2CD2032-I its half the size. DS-2CD2032-I http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9090 DS-2CD2232-I5 http://www.hikvision.com/en/us/Products_show.asp?id=9120
  2. I thought iVMS 5200 Pro was payed version. Is this a trial that needs to be activated?
  3. Is there anyway to setup a cron on the stock hikvision firmware? I would like to setup a cron to run once a week and reboot the camera. For some reason after a week the liveview gets choppy when there is motion detection, a reboot always fixes it and its good for several more days.
  4. I have had this camera for over a year and it has been great the past few months it started lagged when viewing the live stream from the PCNVR software or directly from the cameras internal webpage. Whenever there was motion like a car driving by it would pause for a couple seconds then stream smooth, then pause again. I tried every possible setting video quality/bitrates/ etc and nothing would have any affect. Today I found the problem, it was a 'privacy mask' black box I added behind my timestamp to make it easier to read. As soon as I removed the privacy mask everything streams smooth again.
  5. I don't have save button on that screen. But anytime I make a change it is automatically saved with a message on the bottom "Save succeeded." Are you logged in as "Admin" user?
  6. Problem is that if the Hik vision firmware upgrade bricks the camera there is no OEM firmware to get back to when you have a dead camera. I was considering using FMK to create an image but I am currently thinking about selectively copying and replacing the main binaries individually in camera with versions stripped out of Hik's firmware. If it goes wrong then it should leave me with a brain damaged cam that still has telnet and BusyBox so I could ftp the binaries back in. Does anyone have an exploded davinci.dav in Dropbox or similar that I could play with rather than me going through the pain of setting up a system just for FMK? Write down the current version of your firmware, and download it from the hikvision ftp site. If upgrade fails you have a copy of the old firmware.
  7. Nelley's Security sells USA versions with warranty.
  8. I ordered the 11-40MM version , plus the 6MP 30FPS box camera and one of the new bullet cameras with analytics. Hoping to have them soon. Just check the tracking I will have the DarkFighter camera today or Thursday. Did you get a chance to try out the DarkFighter?
  9. I don't see how that would happen if you had the camera covered, even if the camera wasn't covered I can't see 3 cameras all breaking. I guess you can check the connection where the Ethernet plugs into the camera and make sure the connector isn't filled with liquid.
  10. Has anyone tried out this camera yet? I would like to see some sample videos other than the marketing ones.
  11. You can set different brightness levels for day and night mode.
  12. What is the difference from "iVMS-4200 PCNVR" and "iVMS-4200 v2 with Storage Server installed". I have been using PCNVR for awhile storing to a external harddrive. Can this also be done with iVMS-4200 v2 with Storage Server feature installed? I rather use the regular iVMS-4200 v2 as it seems to get more updates.

    POE Splitter

If I am powering a camera with POE currently, can I put a POE splitter near the camera so I can tap off the CAT5 to get 12v to run a small external IR and have the camera still get POE? Or it will splitter strip the power out going to the Cat5e and only feed it to the power connector.
  14. Did you use the proper email server and port? Also alot email server require SSL so you would need to enable that.
  15. I would like to see a side by side of these two models. Day and Night Paging buellwinkle
  16. You can't delete them from the iVMS software, you would have to delete the physical video files from the hard drive. But the events will still show when you search in the software, when you goto play them the video will be unavailable. Only way I saw to clear the logs for the recorded events would be to uninstall and reinstall the software. I am not sure about recording from the camera to a NAS I never tried that method. The iVMS is nice for reviewing footage more features than in the camera webpage.

    Hikvision really a Costco Swann

Can they take standard Hikvision US firmwares?
  18. Goto Playback, select and camera and a day of the week on the calender and search. All the events from that day should show on the list.
  19. That's fine if its all purple there is nothing to edit, that means all the 24 hours of the day are selected, use that one.
  20. If you are using iVMS-4200 PCNVR and you want it to record on motion do the following: Goto the cameras webpage and make sure motion detection is enabled under: Advanced Configuration->Events In the iVMS-4200 do the following: Goto Configuration->Record Schedule Click "Edit" to modify the record schedule When "Modify Record Schedule" dialog opens, make sure "Enable Record Schedule" is selected Next click "Edit" to modify the record template Select the template "Alarm or Motion" and make sure everything is selected for hours of the day. Also under "Configuration->Event Management" make sure you have a event added for motion detection and make sure its using your "Alarm or Motion" schedule on the dropdown.
  21. My DS-2CD2032-I with frimware 5.1 does the same thing, it goes back to having the entire view selected. I am only using the Hikvision iVMS-4200 software. I haven't really debugged it much, It may be related to changing other setting using the camera web interface is resetting it.
  22. How are you powering your camera, do you have a POE injector or POE Switch? I wouldn't rule out a bad ethernet cable. Try the reset procedure, from the manual.
  23. Is it best to aim for the back plate if possible? Then you aren't dealing with headlights or a missing front plate. Even in states that require front plates many people don't have them.
  24. The leds are usually dim, to notice them you would have to be already looking at the camera. They aren't brite enough to catch the eye and draw attention to the camera in most cases in an outdoor environment. Its not like its a pitch black room, you probably have street lights or other ambient light around. I know with the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I, you really have to be looking directly at the camera and if you walk to the sides even a several feet to the left or right they aren't really visible. Someone driving by in a car would notice the camera during the day 'way' before they would notice the led's at night. How close is the camera going to be to the street?
