    Camera Specs

Yes with F1.2 being quite good really, considering most of those cheap cams dont go under F1.4,

    LPR camera and software suggestions

What about when he covers his plate, or steals another plate from a car yard? Why do you want plates specifically,
  6. Oh yeah alot of my customers sites where existing network and we just install cctv and config remote view, have Netcom 1400 and 1400 + Some have NB5's, the newwer model models generally have a preconfig rule for most services, just select one and use that port, just cause it says "xboxlive" doesnt mean it has to be for that, Its not that hard checkout portforward.com

    DSL modem

Or open port 88- then set your web port on the dvr to 88 also, Port forward rules are easy dependant on the modem/router, You will require a router if your modem hasnt one built in, and you have one Ethernet port and more then one pc/device, checkout portforward.com also for most models,

    Detection Area

Soz to sound like a grunch, but its not really rocket science, If it was working b4 and not after it had to be user error, Upgrading to 1480 with v8.xx will only give you more features, have many a many v6/v7 system out there plodding along fine, I love the ID10T error thingy, its a joke, but its funny as
  9. Yeah my main CCTV supplier sells Computar and Tamron, I have used Tamron on some high end samsung cams and they are good
  10. Yes Scorpion thats your choice, And good on you for servicing the market
  11. Difference is the recording format jpeg mjpeg mpeg or mpeg4, Also depends on amount of movement, all of my customers dvr's differ in recording depending on activity etc, I always found to get more out of my geo systems running mpeg4 or better, then any standalone, I used to like to for their price, but now Im in the market as a major player I dont bother with crap - its to painful later
  12. Agree- 80 is the web iface on most devices. Use 88 or anything but- Something in the high range even 8080, or the likes,
  13. I use Netgear myself, its the best IMHO, But have used Dlink- (not preferred brand) Linksys (made by cisco) Belkin - great gear I have some motorola AP's work ok, Its like everything really, the more you pay, the better the gear (linksys, cisco)
  14. I would go for GEOVISION, either prebuild or buy yourself and build/config, 1280 card is fine with SMART record (uses frames from inactive cameras to bump up recroding on active cameras) or gv1480 and not muck around, It will do all you want and more I give a 3 year wty with my DVR's now- geo cards have 3 yrs, ram is lifetime, hdd's are the only prob but they are cheap nowdays to replace every few years if you have to, COOLING is the issue for reliable pc's (pc based dvr's) , I wouldn't bother with anything else, and it should be competitive on price to considering the costs of PC's these days.
  15. I have never had problems with time lapse, have played back on samsung and mitsu from sony and mitsu, Most police stns here have dif brand to what we sold and installed, As long as its time lapse and played back in the same format - 8/12/24hrs/24l it will work, Playing back to burn to cd/dvd- I wouldnt bother with cd as it will fill up quickly, You can buy an adapter that can plug into USB on a pc/laptop and record composite input from anything like a tv, camera, vcr etc etc, I used to use them on dvr's with no dvd/cd burner, but get sick of going back to site for events. SPECIALLY XMAS !!!! BTW I allow 20-30gb a day from my dvr's, 500gb min in a machine.

    Fiber Optic Surveillance

Also there is NO issue with "Seperation" as in this country we have to be so far from high voltage (50mm for lv 240vac) and 100 + for higher, So if you have a difficult job fibre is the go, just watch the bend rating on your fibre and how you treat it, ITS NOT COAX

    Fiber Optic Surveillance

You will require Fibre termination tool, either Fusion or Splice, bit exxy You can buy a fusion tool which will do the work, just put the two cut ends of fibre in and you have a pigtail... Fibre isnt that special, really if your using single mode, ask ur supplier, hell steer you in the right direction for what you need on a case by case basis, Making sure you have the correct modems is important on a network, In Australia we have to do a cabling course to run any type of "network connectable devices" and so learn the basics, Unless you o further courses at TAFE or another training institution, then its all teach urself...
  18. Seems the way these days for everyone in China (schenzen) is to call it OEM, ummmm, cheap I would say, I have heard of OEM geovision, its just a fake.
  19. I know one of the disty's here in aus just emailed me a pic of something they have just released, its similar Pity- because whoever makes it must be able to make it for a price,

What computer to use for NVRs?

Agree you have to go with Hardware RAID, because software raid isnt all that good If you get a virus, its on all drives if you get a spike, it affects all hardware, If the p/s shaits itself, there goes ur server, ur offline and the only thing s/w raid is good for is cheap servers... Looks like some serious earthworks happening at that place, and some serious money being spent- ie labour saving
  21. Oh yeah 18 x zoom - 22x digital Low light to, and high quality images 480 tvl from 1/4" ccd Someone has to have seen them, I have even searched ebay and cant find them or anything alike...
  22. Looking for the distributor of this unit, Its got a pinhole cam which records to Sd card, bit exxy here to resell, have a good market. cheers
  23. Hide a cam looking at the other cam or two, you will find out who is doing it and maybe counter act it...
  24. Be like using cheap oil $ 20 drum with a $ 100 filter.. NO POINT...
  25. YOU can notice the lower quality difference between the "cheap" ones from china and a Computar or Fujinon, - I have a COMPUTAR sticker on the back of my van says something 4 sure, why use a cheap lense on a dear camera? Are we talking Apsherical...
