    When I say rip off I wasn't referring to Avigilon. I just want to make that clear. Just a comment in general with the video encoders used for security cameras.

    Hi, I did check out them, Geovision etc.. Avigioln only has a max of a 4 video encoder available. I know how to build servers and NVRs. The video encoders seem a rip off since they look very similar to the ones used in a studio room. What would be a different approach for a such high volume of cameras?

    Hi, I have been looking at few different video encoders by Axis etc.. and the price is high. Is there anyway to connect something like a balun to NVR? What NVR software is out there to host 40 cameras? Thanks. Mark
