  1. Hi guys... I had two guys come out to my house in Texas and give me an estimate. The directive was: three cameras on exterior of the house, excellent picture day/night, and the ability to view motion-detection on my phone. One guy wants to wire me with the HDTVI cameras and a DVR. The other wants to wire me up with IP Cameras into an NVR. Their prices for the complete job were the same. I am not a pixel-peeper, so resolution and capabilities on both systems seem mostly similar. Is there any consideration I should give to one system over the other? Does it matter?

  3. Hi can anyone help me with what wires should go where? I've hooked up 24v but still got these connections above to hook up but not sure where to start? DATA+ DATA- SCR VID(+) SCR (-) Is a document I found online but again still not understanding it unfortunately. Image of the unit itself. Any replies much appreciated!
  4. Cheers Daryl but no game, so put vid + to the centre wire of the bnc cable And I put scr to the outer mesh wire of bnc cable nothing so tried wiring scr to scr - to terminate it or something I read? and that didn't bring it up either Not sure what else to try but any suggestions from anyone welcome!
  5. Thank you so much for the reply! I'll give this a go soon and report back Cheers!

    Single camera over cellular

An alternative I came up with was £30 3G Router £10 3G Dongle - connected the two and ethernet DVR to 3G Router - and boom live viewing available and emails with snapshot motion detection. DVR + 8 cameras @ £200 Or one 3G/4G IP sim card camera @ £250 was the cheapest I found.

    Forgot password in samsung srn-472s

for a samsung SRN-472S factory reset try the following from the remote: FREEZE ALARM FREEZE ALARM FREEZE RETURN Else does this resemble your DVR? The reset button is to the right of the console port and to the left of the Network 4 port. Hold it in for 10 seconds and release, it will reset everything to default, however you will lose everything you had on it and won't be able to recover it. Hope this helps a little.

DVR Comunicates with browser not apps

In the systems I have setup if you connect remotely or locally using a browser then 80/8080 will work fine and it connects but for some awkward reason using an application on a Windows system .exe file or Android application/iOS then the mobile application uses a different port in my cases they have varied - 3892, 34567, 18002, 18004, 1842, 9000 So try and have a look in the network settings and see if it mentions any other ports at all media port, web port, second stream port etc Hope this helps a little. Also I have not found a solution for some older DVR machines to play web based streams/video playback in browser, I can login usually and set settings but when viewing live it won't load a activex error etc occurs, so the solution for me was to run Internet Explorer in Compatibility View and as administrator then the DVR pushes a download if the settings are set properly (insecurely)

    Event or Continuous Recording ?

I do believe depending on what firmware you have running when you have continuous recording enabled, and set motion detection - when on the playback screen it should show you obviously that there is footage available but also when the event/motion/alarm occurred in a different colour. If you've setup alarm/motion detection and it isn't highlighting this on the playback screen then chances are you don't have that option - are you using the dvr/monitor and mouse or are you trying to view through web based or application software?

    Motion Detection - Swann NVR

I have all of my cameras on lowest and I have tried to define the areas and risk free as possible to avoid random detections but if it rains badly etc then I can get 200+ false detection emails through the night which wastes data- if you come across any solutions then post up

    Forgotten DVR Admin Password

I take it when you say you have forgotten it then you changed it from default? If not some standard ones you could try if it was still default: 000000 123456 admin NULL 12888 1234 12345 no password just enter username and click login? If none of these work it might be worth powering off the DVR and unplugging it then opening the cover, removing any small watch battery(s) you can see - plug it back in and start the system up for about one minute, then again shut it down and unplug and add the battery(s) back in. And if that doesn't work then depending on your DVR you could try networking and using telnet to access into it remotely.

    New System Installation Help

So can anyone point me if I am even going in the right direction? Sorry to bug So I've got a BNC connection coming from the DVR and just need to wire it to the camera I think??? I've got a connection of 24v power now to the camera unit itself... These are ports available on the rear of the DVR I assume I'll need to make some wiring from these to the camera base for PTZ control? Much thanks to any replies Faithfully - T
  19. Hi there I've currently got two DVR systems with 8 cameras on each one is a h.view and one is Swann and I managed to set them up fine last year for both network using the application to view on PC/Mobile and they've been working fine, however I purchased a new system at the weekend out of nowhere from a second hand seller just because it has a ptz camera and I was wanting to mount one for a while - but have no experience with this system at all. It is a HikiVision 16 channel DVR and with it came cameras (one being a PTZ dome outdoor mounted one?) and a 360 Vision Keyboard model number: VKXBMM485 http://www.sourcesecurity.com/docs/opdf/technical-details/360-vision-vkxbmm485.pdf and a Vision Matrix model number: VM0032-04 http://www.sourcesecurity.com/docs/opdf/technical-details/360-vision-vm0032-04.pdf I have set the DVR up and have connected up all the bnc cable / power cabled cameras and it is fine - the last issue I have is getting this ptz outdoor one working? I don't have any cables for the camera, keyboard or matrix? What exactly do I need to get this guy working? Many thanks to any replies at all! Image of inside the dome camera internals: Image of the keyboard: Image of the matrix?:

    New System Installation Help

Scrap the matrix and keypad what wires go where on the dome camera? I've got 24v going to power and I've cut a bnc male from an old camera and it has two connections in it so I take it one goes on video or something and elsewhere on the camera then another two to the rj ports on the DVR itself? Many thanks again to any replies
  21. Hi there all I won an auction on like new pelco dome cameras and after winning went and purchased BNC video/power cabling but the domes have arrived now and the BNC for the video is okay but the other cable coming out of the camera isn't the normal power one I'm used to is there anything I can buy to convert the power from whatever it is to the BNC power dc cable I have? Much thanks to any replies.
