  2. Hi all, am looking for some advice please on the following system: DVR - http://www.cameras-cctv.com/HD-DVRs/DVR-HD-SDI-HYBRID-NEW-8-CH-RF2974 (£415 w/ 2tb HD) 8x Varifocal CAMS - http://www.cameras-cctv.com/HD-Cameras/HD_Camera_HD-SDI_2961 (£55 each) Ignoring cables, connectors etc of which i have plenty, I've priced this system up at cost £855 (exc. VAT) Is this a good deal or is there better for the price out there? Thanks All

    remote viewing

Hi all, I am using a Swann 960H system (http://www.swann.com/uk/swdvk-942004). I am using the iPhone & iPad apps (Swannview) which are alright but i have noticed that they only use the secondary feed i believe? this is obviously good for my upstream internet in my house but i would prefer to have the option to vie the main stream. when i use the MyDVR software on my mac i can switch between main stream and 2nd stream and its really handy. I have recently been using an app called EVOPLUSLITE to view a different system and have seen that you can view the main stream and i was blown away by how clear the picture looks, about the same as when i am viewing mine on the HD tv. Anyway my questions are: 1) Is there a generic app i can use which i can switch between feeds and also i am looking to get a system set up in my business premises and would ideally like to be able to monitor both properties using one app (i.e. maybe viewing 2 cams from each place at same time) but don't really want to be constrained to using Swann again. Is there an app that different DVRs can use? many thanks in advance and apologies as I'm pretty new to all this. Mike

    Upgrading my current setup?

Thanks for the reply coolie11, The daytime picture is ok, but the night pic is poor. I actually bought a floodlight a few days ago and it doesn't really do much for the night picture as it just makes peoples faces bright white. Could I upgrade the cameras to digital megapixel ones with the same DVR I have now or would I need to upgrade the DVR too? Thanks very much!
  5. Hi all, just wanted to get some opinions on my options. I bought a 960H system a few months back (Swann DVR9-4200 with 4x Pro-642 Cameras) http://www.swann.com/uk/swdvk-942004 Although the quality initially seemed quite good, I am now not so sure. Is there any way of upgrading the cameras? Ive been looking at the Pro-780 (http://www.swann.com/uk/swpro-780cam) and was wondering if I will see much improvement over the Pro-642's I currently have. Night vision is quite poor on the ones i currently have and just from what it says on the Swann website these are much better for night vision. However, would it be just cheaper buying a IR floodlight for the area or are the cameras actually better? Or are there other cameras which are better that I should be looking at? Or...should I just scrap the whole thing and get a better DVR & Cameras (HD etc) bearing in mind I don't want to be spending over a thousand really if i went down that route. Any suggestions greatly received. Thanks, Mike
