    Picture loss at night time?

I switched to 6 Amps 12vdc power supply still having this problem. Perhaps next thing is to solder the wire.
  2. Currently using 4 analog cameras with USB card and laptop software 1200 tvl however i want more resolution and less junk in my house e.g. DVR/dedicated laptop for recording. Ideally i want DVR less solution i media server computer in my house i want to use for getting the video, but i need some way to also see live stream at max resolution 1080x1920 24fps if possible. 1. How security implemented over wireless cameras can someone hijack my camera signal?2. if i buy non-wireless IP camera i would have to use switch or plug them directly 2. If i use wireless then can simply hook them up to my internet over WiFi and wired i have to use network switch? 3. IP cameras have firmware menu like computer router you access over internet or how you set up ftp upload and other things? Can someone recommend particular outdoor IP camera on sold on Amazon.com that is CAT5/6 (not digital over coaxial, hate this type of cable) and has at least 2-3megapixel 1920x1080 and has upload video (or image sequence, not a webcam mode) to FTP option price ranger $30-50 USD. Any other important point i should consider buying IP camera?

    few IP camera pre-upgrade questions

    few IP camera pre-upgrade questions

There's lack of imagery examples for cameras its like shoot in the sky buying one i want to come with some that has either review or at least few video quality samples. I was thinking Power Over Ethernet however this cameras cost $20-30 more, and other specs are same as ones without PoE. Do they make Cat-5/6 cable or any with extra 2 pins for running power in same cord vs having cat5 plus dedicated power cord?

    few IP camera pre-upgrade questions

Not looking to spend $$$ for commercial system need functional upgrade from analog crap i was looking at screens from "JOOAN 703KRA 1 Megapixel 720P" currently $29 on amazon looks way better than what i have in terms of details at this wide angle. Would i feel real difference in detail level if you pay $50-80 for camera that is 2-3 megapixels?
  6. I purchased 10 cameras for my home system, but ended up needing only 4 to get complete coverage. Want to sell remaining 6 cameras, each camera is new in the box, with the manual and mounting screws. Cameras are great quality video quality i had them installed for year and they work good. - Compatible with any analogue DVR - Every camera is programmable trough built in OSD menu - Cut off IR filter - Powerful infrared Array LED night vision up to 200 feet with cut off filter. - Adjustable Variable optical zoom 2.8-12mm - Wall and ceiling mountable - Waterproof http://www.gadspot.com.tw/gs7603.htm I paid $120 each, selling for $80 a piece or best offer. Can mail inside US or local pickup in Los Angeles, CA
  7. Only have 6 new in the box cameras left. Will give for $350 if you buy all at once.
  8. As i sent my Q-See DVR back to amazon after almost 2 months of using, got my money back. I don't want to go this road no more, instead i want to use laptop i have currently as a media server on my local network. Did someone have experience with good USB based capture card, i need max 4 - 8 channels max price around $50. Tried this piece i got from amazon for $15, but i guess it was either knock off (its common as i read on official forum) or failed out of the box picture was scrambled on every channel. Plus software that came with it was only working on Windows XP. There's not much information on the internet about USB cards, you think if i buy generic 4 channel USB TV tuner i can use it with some standalone CCTV software? Another option i am considering is analog to digital converter if they are reasonably priced?
  9. I see your point, however all i need camera currently is to catch my neighbors dog crapping at my lawn and show landlord the screenshots, i bet i will get that just fine. Will post my review on this forum once i get that piece. MindTwist I been looking for a professional USB capture solution for CCTV some time ago and did not see anything good either. I have not tried USB TV tuner yet, but i doubt the ones priced $50-100 is same as cheap ones that imitate COM port, say four of them connected to a USB hub could deliver good results. I guess its wiser to buy a analog to digital converter for each camera if you want to go professional, less things to fail and works independent of computer.
  10. As no one offers anything i decided to go with this piece, its another china NoName product that been cloned under many names as above card. It goes for $30-40 with shipping and time i will check it asap and return if it does not work.
  11. Point is features (I dont mean PTZ or anything alike just features that on software side like motion detection etc) come from 3rd party software, smooth playback comes from my computer's hardware. I think $50 bucks is okay price for TV tuner or CCTV Card that merely transfers analog signal to digital. Not saying that i need 30 FPS capture 5-10 frames per second okay for me.
  12. Its a bit too specific and not clear what you mean. try to do spell check too. To measure bandwidth of each camera you can use router than has DD-WRT firmware, like Buffalo N300 or buy refurbished router e.g. linksys E2500 for $20 and flash DD-WRT firmware (complicated), then on statistics tab you can see bandwidth. Or just buy everything where you can return within 30 days no questions asked and see for yourself if that setup works.

    Surveilance for a riding facility

Why he wants old cameras i imagine their quality is poor, are they old just convince him to upgrade to digital. If you already have analog DVR and owner is fine with quality he's getting then why not just buy few more analog cameras for it or it can only support 4? Its difficult to tell whats best for your situation without actually seeing inside of the building. Perhaps if you want to just cover passages in between then you could use high resolution cameras 2-3MP the way you showed in first post seems the best. Not sure if there are DVR + NVR hybrids, but you should be able to use personal computer to combine both and it has more control software to chose from.

is this the best design for a home cctv system?

Both PoE and non PoE powered cameras transmit signal same way over Ethernet cable, so up to you if you want to pay extra for PoE.

    Surveilance for a riding facility

With bullet cameras employees can figure out the dead spots , with dome if its shaded its close to impossible to tell where camera is pointing, unless they see IR light when cameras operate in the dark. This is expensive cameras. You really need 3megapixel cameras with resolution 2048×1536px? If your stable looks like this then you will have many dead spots with 1 camera covering big hangar. It will only cover passage in the middle and few horse cages that are close to the camera, will will be dead zone. I think you need to go buy less expensive cameras like 1MP - 1.5MP no more than $60-$80 piece tops, and put like 8-16 cameras to cover more area like this. NVR is like DVR but for IP cameras, PC/NAS is basically file server you attach to your computer network you can set up cameras to save data on this server, but you need some software to monitor footage and make it accessible remotely with phone/ home computer. So you would also need to have computer connected to NAS server also. If you buy system with like 10+ cameras and DVR you can order directly from manufacturer (China) and will get probably half price that they sell each camera retail that's why it makes more sense to build larger system for you. Lens only provides magnification and angle 12 mm is widesr angle at closer distance, 18mm is smaller angle at further distance. Sensor records whatever picture lens provides 1MP sensor will record 1280x720px and 3MP sensor will record 2048x1536px from same lens. You can cameras with varifocal lens 6-12mm it should be what you need.

    New system advice please

Any CCTV system can do what you need, just read the online manual for DVR before you make purchase. I'd suggest to install cameras inside the house too just in case. No need to buy expensive system unless you need to be able to id face of intruder, not sure if you need that, but even with cheap system you can put one camera to just to profile people who approach entrance or behind entrance to record faces of people who walk in up close. Just buy any 8 / 16 IP camera system you can afford, if you buy like 10 you can order directly from manufacturer (China) for better price that on eBay. Recording to HDD 1 mile away is impossible with analog system, but either analog or digital system can let you use app on your computer or phone to monitor / control DVR, i'd go with digital system though, its more flexible.
  17. Did you change any settings in router, perhaps cameras was initially setup, but cannot reacquire IP address from router again. Reboot switch / router too. Look for new firmware.

    Need help Asap

I had same issue when i set up my first system too, its bit confusing at first. Wifi is better to set up after you figure out how it works over wired connection so plug dvr to router. What is model of DVR, do you have monitor/tv hooked up to DVR and able to see camera footage? If so perhaps your DVR is set up to record when there is motion on the cameras in this case you need to check sensitivity its probably too low. Is there record button on DVR's interface home page or remote it usually overrides motion activation and just forces all cameras to record. However recording of each camera can be disabled somewhere in settings, so you need to look trough all menus and find out, its usually a checkbox on same page where you set the quality of video and resolution. Try resetting DVR's settings to factory defaults.

    Security Camera recommendations

Never heard of this brands are those in UK? Anyway what you need is Digital camera about 1.2MegaPixels and up all this features you describe are pretty standard, just buy one camera and see how good it suits your needs then buy the rest. PoE cameras are more expensive, and there's less to chose from, why you so critically need PoE?

    ptz power consumption

Most likely its only when motor used, you can measure amps with digital multimeter in line between camera and power source. If its powered by 12volts DC then 50watts will equal 4.2 AMP draw.
  21. TIP: If someone dealing drugs within reach of your cameras they might not like it. Other than that you need to be more specific what you asking, whats your budget and goal.

    ZMD-DD-SAN8 quick help

There's no any custom firmware i know that exists for any DVR, each DVR using specific hardware so making one would be difficult. They all suck in my opinion you just have to get used to it, try to see if there is firmware update or software that allows you control DVR from your computer.

    Can I change cameras?

What exact model of camera you have. Maybe send picture that you think is not good enough so we know what exactly you mean. For any analog DVR max resolution of recording is 960 x 480 if i remember correctly. Vertical is definitely less than 500px. So say you buy 700 TVL (TV Vertical Lines) each TVL is approximately 0.7 pixels so 700*0.7 = 490 pixels vertical resolution, its probably what you have already.

    Installation advice Needed.

No experience mounting on this surface, but I think gasket is not going to work too good. Perhaps you can just put something like piece of wood or metal nut to align each mount straight if needed. Let us know how you did this after you done

    Newbie building system

Now days 99% of IP based DVR's have audible alarm and WEB access and motion detection You can just split the output from DVR between TV and dvr's Monitor. Or perhaps if your TV is connected to internet and can browse websites you have chance without direct connection. Whats your budget for DVR? P.S. its IP camera so it might have web server without DVR consult with manual or contact manufacturer.
