  2. Make sure all of your cables are good. What are you connecting the cameras to? A PoE switch? Make sure that all cameras are connected to PoE ports on the switch.
  3. I would make sure first of all that there's nothing wrong on the Physical layer. Basically make sure that either the cable the last camera is connected to the network isn't faulty.
  4. I'm planning on buying Dahua learn about CCTV and NVR/DVR: NVR - http://goo.gl/gxspln 2 Dome cameras - http://goo.gl/CEu1cm What do you guys think?
  5. I see some DVR's that have BNC inputs/outputs and also one RJ-45 port to connect to a switched network. Can you access all cameras(BNC) remotely with such a DVR? If so, then how is an NVR that uses RJ-45 exclusively, instead of BNC input/output, ports to connect cameras any different?

    Violating building code?

That makes perfect sense. Have you ever done a good job and then were faced with legal issues in regards to that job?
  7. When you install a surveillance system in a building/store/warehouse/house/you-name-it: do you have to follow or be vary of any kinds of building codes or rules to properly install the system in Canada? What I mean by that is if I just drill a bunch of cameras(vandal and weather proof but without housings) to some walls outside the building in question, connect cameras using plain RJ-45 cable(the one not designed for the outdoor) and leave them hanging without much support/tuck them in somewhere where they might fall off later - will there be any legal problems or the like for me if a building inspector(or whoever is usually in charge of this) arrives and notices my poor job? Now, I'm exhaggerating here. Obviously I would try to do the best job I can with the experience I posses at the moment(none). I would try to use all kinds of accessories out there to protect and hide the cameras and cables outside and inside the building. But how do I know if I didn't violate any building codes/rules/laws/etc?
  8. Hello, I'm from Toronto and would like to setup 16 NVR camera system. Where would I get the best price for such a system? eBay or are there any specific stores around Toronto, Ontario I could aquire such system for reasonable price? Should I stay away from places like FutureShop/BestBuy or TigerDirect? EDIT: I also noticed that there's so many brand names of NVR/camera systems. What are some brand one should stay away from?
