Issue resolved. The unit simply wasn't recognizing the USB thumb drive. I used a different one and all is good.

I posted this in another thread but realized it was a really old thread. I have a model KPD679ZB-C. I attempted to update the firmware via the network and it failed halfway through the process. Is there a way to force the unit to load the firmware from a USB thumb drive? I tried the suggestion of shorting TP5 & TP6. It makes the short extra beep and briefly says it is resetting the configuration to factory, but it never tries to load the firmware from the USB thumb drive. The screen is stuck on H.264 "System Initial..." Thanks. Jimi Ray.
