  1. What issues are you having or what exactly are you trying to do? also what kind of cctv system and router do you have?

my nvr has gaps in recording

How many cameras do you have on it? sounds like a power issue with the NVR, if so, better off buying a hikvision NVR since you already have the hikvsion cameras and the nor is actually reliable and not expensive

IP Cam with h264 stream over RTSP

What MP are you looking for and bullet or dome? i can send you a link of the ones that will work.
  4. Well on what camera and what environment is the camera in?
  5. You can use the extenders like "Don Stephens" has showed in the link but also you can keep your existing Coax Cable and use the Cat5 over coax. http://www.buycameradirect.com/index.php/ds-1h05t-hik-vision-coaxial-network-extender-transmitter.html
  6. was this purchased in the US or Outside the US, send me your email and i will send you the 5.2.0 Frimware
  7. First thing, Are you going to replace the cameras also? if not you need to get a DVR that is compatible with the cameras that are already with you. But i recommend getting 4CH-DVR from HikVision, which is actually pretty good, very user friendly interface and support is great. but if you want to replace all cameras too, i recommend you update to IP based system, which is very clear and has a longer life span and more reliable
  8. I would go with HikVision cameras, you can get that to work with only the cameras and also the NVR, are you and on some the cameras you can put an SD card in it to record locally, up to a 64GB SD card on some cameras, but if you want to keep video for a long period i would recommend you get a 4CH-NVR so you can put in a HDD to your need and size and record on motion with alarm, there are alarm inputs on the back of the NVR where you would input your alarms

    Dome camera compatability

Analog or IP? Check your cabling. Also if you have the cables running across a power line somewhere from point A to point B, then it will cause this. Cables can run parallel with power lines but not across, it will cause an interference.
  10. I don't think thats the issue, the issue would be the email is not setup right, some emails are hard to get to work right with the dvr, what email address are you using to send out.
  11. So you are looking for the one that has no direct poe plug-ins on the back of the NVR? Actually, i was Found the 7616 at a bargain - so i'm covered now Awesome

Using laptop monitor as an external monitor

Let me kind break it down a little more. a customers just purchased 365 IP cameras for a Native Canadian Village and the cameras are scattered all over the village. so what we did is at every location we create a solution box which contains (32CH NVR/or 16CH, POE SWITCH, UPS) enclosed in the box, now there are a total of 23 locations and at every location there are the solution boxes there. Now once all cameras and NVR Boxes are installed at locations, we go in for configuring and commissioning the system, after all cameras are up, we link them ALL back to the surveillance site for ONLY Surveillance Operators to see the video feeds to monitor the whole village in one room. That is why there will be no monitors at every location. Therefore i was wondering of there was a device i can attach to my laptop to view the NVR directly to laptop as if i was using a monitor locally, not through web browser just in case something happens and i need to view locally on a monitor. I was trying to avoid carrying a mojito with me to ever location and with me while traveling across country. But i ended up buying a mini palm size projector that was REALLY small but was trying to see if i was able to view the DVR through my laptop screen as if it was a regular mojito attached to the DVR without having to carry extra baggage around. I know that VGA and HDMI ports on laptops are the output only, but was rather wonder of an inout device through USB. Thanks
  13. So you are looking for the one that has no direct poe plug-ins on the back of the NVR?
  14. You would not connect a Switch to a poe port on the back of the NVR, it will only pull one camera, you would plug a ethernet cable from the switch to the Lan1 on the back of the NVR, and then try to import your cameras
  15. This is the time to Upgrade to an IP System. Nowadays most IP Systems are able to stream to any site you want to as long as you have your coding right in your website. You would embed the configurations of your NVR into the website, or if you are wanting to only add a selected few cameras to be viewed online then you would embed the single camera info into your website. Also if you want to keep your analog cameras, which i would not since your DVR went out i would do a complete upgrade to IP all the way, but if you want to keep those cameras and also add IP cameras, i would recommend you to get a Hybrid DVR that can handle both Analog and IP Cameras.

    poe or power supply

    1. I would go with POE because now most NVRs or POE switches have smart POE capability to send the camera the amount of power it needs at the given moment where as direct power has a constant stream of power with not adjustments to it. Also it would not be the POE that you would need to worry about, its the camera. As long as it is IP66 rating and also has a built in blower than that would be all you need to worry about. If you just get any camera without a blower, your just wasting money because you will have to replace it soon. i recommend you getting a HIKVISION Pro Series camera. 2. It is not the software that detects the licenses plate, its the camera, if you need an LPR Camera or you can actually tweak up almost any IP camera to work but you need to realize that at night time you will be ONLY picking up Licenses plates and nothing else, everything will be black except for when a car passes by in a particular area so you can catch the licenses plate, thats why they call it "Licenses Plate Recognition Camera"
  17. You should be able to without an issue as long as they don't cross. Why are you putting 2 beams? Do you have 2 cameras that you want to install in the elevator?
  18. Is the ethernet coming from the NVR going to the switch connected in the Link Port or in a regular Port and what kind of switch are you using Also are the IP Addresses all on the same scheme with NVR

    $1000-$1500 system

I would definitely go with hikvision, You would need the following to achieve your goal: DS-7608NI-SE/8P w/1TBHDD - $549 DS-2CD2532F-IS - $200 (3) DS-2CD2132-I -$510 (2) DS-2CD2032-I- $340 This would be your best bet, and you might can get it cheaper shopping around at different websites but this is average. this would be just your cameras, also keep in mind you would be RJ45 cables to each camera, you can buy a roll of it at a local hardware store with connectors and crimpers if you are running the wires yourself. that would be your cheapest and best route to a reliable system. You can go with a cheaper brand but you will not have the same quality and you will not have a long lasting system. .. UNITY SURVEILLANCE SYSTEMS

    Remote connect

What kind of DVR and How do you want to view it? Through your smart phone or through a client on a PC.
  23. hey i have a macbook pro and Lenova laptop, and i work for a video surveillance company. when installing a DVR at a a job site, you would need a monitor to attach to it to configure. Is there a software that allows you to connect the DVR via VGA to the laptop and use as a regular monitor through a software, than rather having to take a monitor and all that hassle to every job site. Most of our consumers won't have a monitor to use, they use our Client Software to view/manage cameras. The DVR uses a Linux OS.
