  1. Hello. We have been looking at some IP cameras online. These ones... http://domarsolutions.co.uk/babybullet-zxtech-2-megapixel-ip66-broad-lens-bullet-cctv-camera.html However we are open to any suggestions on which cameras to buy. They will be going outside and we want them to be capable of night vision. We are looking at those ones as the specs seem good and the price is where we want to be. We will listen to any recommendations though. The NVR seems the more difficult piece to decide on. If I make a list of what we want, then maybe someone can make a recommendation? - An external motion detection / video loss alarm / buzzer - Support 4+ IP 1080P cameras - Have a decent and easy user interface - Support monitoring / playback from a Windows client - Support monitoring / playback from an iPad etc We dont want to be spending loads on one, like £100 - £200 Thanks for any input, Chris.
  2. Thanks for the replies! I'm in the UK and while we do have Costco, what they stock is different. Either way we don't want to spend that kind of money all in one go. We would rather buy just 2 cameras, then eventually get a third and a forth. I'm seriously considering these... http://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hikvision-3-0MP-DS-2CD2032-I-1080P-Outdoor-IP-Camera-Full-1080P-real-time-image-30/2019749242.html Can anyone give me any reasons why not to get them? There's so many cameras on the market and choosing a decent model at a reasonable price is trickier than I thought. I have seen recorded footage from these cameras on YouTube and I was impressed with the quality in both day and night. Some videos did look better than others though, is that down to the recorder/NVR settings used? Also the NVR of choice at the moment is the Hikvision DS-7600NI-SE(/N). Does anyone know if this actually allows you to add an audible alarm/siren? Some places say yes, some don't mention it. If anyone can think of a better NVR for similar money then please let me know. Thanks, Chris.
  3. Hello and thanks for the reply. Yes I have looked at both of those manufactures as well as many others. At the moment I think the Hikvision DS-2CD2032-I seems to be the best at this price point. From what I can see (on YouTube) they produce a more than acceptable image in low light conditions. If you can recommend something even better for the same price or less then I'm happy to listen to any suggestions. As for the NVR I'm still unsure. From what I've seen (on YouTube) the Hikvision DS-7604NI-SE is the one to go for, if only because I've seen the user interface demoed. It looks simple and well done. We actually know all about cheap crappy units as we have just had to return a CCTV system. The main issue we had was that the software was absolutely ****. It was broken translated Chineese which worked only when it wanted to, then eventually stopped working/booting altogether in the second day after installation. When it did work we noticed the picture quality was nowhere near what was advertised. The unit was from Savvon. As such I want to make sure the unit we buy this time is decent as well as having the features I mentioned above in my original post. I would love to hear any recommendations based on personal experience or reliable sources. I think we want to try turning an old PC into an NVR before we commit to a dedicated unit. I have had a play with some software called "Axxon Next" which seems to do everything we want and then some. But I would like to have a purpose made unit picked out before hand In case we don't get along with the PC software. Thanks, Chris.
  4. Thank you for the reply msecure. OK so which cameras would you buy in this price range? I think we will try to use Axxon Next on a spare computer before we buy a dedicated NVR. If we like it then we save the price of a NVR. Chris.
