Please help w/ Geovision integration with POS SHARP UP-X500
ezCCTV replied to rqdasilva's topic in System Design
Hi, Had a quick look at the specs of that till > http://www.sharpusa.com/products/ModelDetailedSpecs/0,1161,1287-,00.html I think it should work OK. I have setup similar till to that such as UNIWELL and GELLER, not SHARP ones though. What you should ask the POS support people is the following: Can you setup a receipt journal to be sent from one of the 3 RS232 ports? - Basically a receipt journal is an ASCII feed sent from the till over a serial port, containing all POS information (Sales, Voids etc.) What is the pinout of the RS232 port? - If the till uses any sort of handshaking to make sure that a printer is on the end o the RS232 port, it will not get an answer from the GV Data Capture. You will need to make up a cable to self fulfill any handshake requests that are sent, i.e. hotwire the RTS (request to send) and CTS (clear to send) pins, and the DSR (data set ready) DTR (data terminal ready) pins. If anyone reading this is a POS expert, I'm sorry if some of the information is wrong, but I've had to pick this up quickly! Once you have this info you should be fine. -

Please Help-best processor for Geo 1480 +poweredge server
ezCCTV replied to freeflyer's topic in Geovision
Freeflyer, let me know how you get on with that setup. If you need any advise, please PM or email me. I agree with Rory, we use ATI X300 256MB with combo card systems. James -
Hi, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, one of our Account Managers will contact you.

Just to confirm: The setting under Video Source is the setting for the maximum video resolution. You then need to go to the individual camera settings under System Configure Click on the Configure Icon Click System Configure Select the Camera Tab Click on the Blue Arrow right of Recording Quality Select the desire resolution for that camera.

Thanks for the recommendation If you have any questions please feel free to post in the forum or give me a PM. James

I would imagine this is down to firewall settings. Try turning off all firewall software, including Windows XP firewall, and try again. To test your security settings, you can try the following from the client PC START>RUN "cmd" telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx For example, if your GeoVision system is running on 192.168.0.100, you would need to try the following telnet 192.168.0.100 80 - for the HTTP port telnet 192.168.0.100 4550 - for the command port telnet 192.168.0.100 5550 - for the data port If the screen clears, and you get a flashing cursor, then the port is open If you get the following screen, then something is blocking the port The RemoteView application uses the port 3550 Try this and get back to us.

You can plug the cable straight in to the PC's serial port, I'm not sure what cable you would use to split the signal. Also I think, and don't quote me on this, that the effective length of RS232 Serial cable is arounf 20M. The GV Data Capture would give you the following benefits: 1. The ability to change the RS232 into RS485, this is much easier cable to run (2 core) and has a much longer maximum distance. 2. It would clone the RS232 port for you, providing a RS232 output for your existing printer, an RS232 output for GeoVision (as well as RS485) 3. The Newer unit also come with an ethernet port, if there is already a network inplace, there is no need to run additional cables. You could even add a wireless access poin to the box to eliminate the need of cabling Basically, I would recommend the capture device, but you may get along without it.

Difference between regular LCD and CCTV LCD
ezCCTV replied to RMA's topic in General Digital Discussion
Has anyone had any experience of these "CCTV" LCD Monitors, or heard any reviews? -
From your post it appears that this POS system has an external printer. This should make it an easy installation, as the data is passed through the data capture unit. The two ways of connecting it are as follows: If the POS system is less than 10m from the GV System POS --RS232--> GV Data Capture --RS232--> Serial Port on GV System If the POS system is more than 10m from the GV system POS --RS232--> GV Data Capture --RS485--> GVNET Card ----> Serial Port on GV System The RS485 is just 2 core cable. The POS installations can get a bit tricky when you have an internal printer on your POS, as you have to configure the till to output through another RS232 port, for this you will need a till manual, or the help of the customer's till engineer.

The way to do this is a s follows: From the GeoVision CD Install FBR (Fast Backup and Restore) Run from Start>FBR>Fast Backup and Restore Login under Supervisor level Click on Change Skin Style Click on Use all Conventional Style Exit and Restart Why oh why would they want the old skin?????

gv250 flashing camera version 8 software
ezCCTV replied to MRWHITE35's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
Is the camera a wired, or wireless camera? Can you plug the camera into a monitor or a TV to check the picture from your camera? I would check to make sure that the Video Source is set correctly. US > NTSC Europe > PAL. -
VGA extension cable between GEO and video ins?
ezCCTV replied to uglyb0b's topic in DVR Cards and Software - PC Based Systems
I have seen this on an install before, I would check to make sure that all pins are wired straight trhrough pin to pin. As it is an extension cable, this should be the case. -
Use the following tool to quickly identify which versions of software you can successfully run on any GeoVision system. http://www.ezcctv.com/download/Version_8_Detection_Tool.zip Download the tool from the provided link, & unzip the contents into your GV installation directory. Once unzipped, browse to your installation directory & find the exe named "DetectSys.exe". It will give you a result & indicate whether you are able to run V8.

What benefits does this offer over the Keylock Utility?
-
In its normal use (i.e. not in the startup group) To turn off Keylock Click on Settings icon Login with Supervisor ID and Password Click on Desktop type Select Windows Exit GeoVision Click on the Log Off button Login with Supervisor ID and Password Click on your Windows Username To Start the Keylock Utility Select Keylock Utility from the Start Menu Click on Settings icon Login with Supervisor ID and Password Click on Desktop type Select Multicam It is alot easier, and quicker than it sounds!
-
You should not have the Keylock program in your Startup Group. The Software is just run from the original program location. The settings part of the program dictates whether it is called at startup.

Hi there, ezCCTV are running the Old for New Program in the UK for all UK GeoVision customers. This is the reason why we have the Version 8 download available on our website. Thanks James

When we play back the video it has a green tint to it, like looing through a green bit of plastic. I have tried changing the client from PAL to NTSC etc, and it is still green. Any ideas guys? Cheers

Are you still receiving images, when you receive this message? I would suggest that you check the following: Make sure that the routers at BOTH ends have the releveant ports forwarded. i.e GV Client 5546 - 5549 forwarded to the LAN IP of the GV system Center V2 5546 - 5549 forwarded to the LAN IP of the V2 system. Cheers

I have checked the latest supported motherboard list from GeoVision. There are a couple of Nforce4 Chipsets motherboards, however your motherboard is not listed. The tested boards are: ASUS P5ND20SLI Deluxe with MSi RX600XT-TD128 graphics card GIGABYTE GA-8N-SLI ROYAL with Winfast PX6600 TD 256 Both of these systems have been tested with a GV800 Could you also answer one question for me, when you connect the cameras, do you get a "Video Lost" signal, or just black screens. Also Does it make a difference if you go to Configure > DSP Overlay (untick it)? Have you another system that you can try the card in, if not then please give our support line a call, and we can arrange to get it back to us, and replaced if it is faulty.
-
Could you make sure that you have selected the correct Video Standard. From the GeoVision main page Go to Configure Icon>Video Source>Video Standard>Select PAL for Europe If you have this set to NTSC, then it is most likely that you will not receive a picture. Try this and please post the results

Do we know who the manufacturer is?
