Concept DMR PLUS 4 Camera DVR

i've done some more searching and found another dealer in the UK - http://www.ezcctv.com/products/ez-dvr-net.htm this device is cheaper than the one i mentioned in this thread, and seems to have more or less the same specs but cheaper. any thoughts on this model? good or bad? regards, james

Concept DMR PLUS 4 Camera DVR

rory, i'm surprised that the footage can't be transfered to a PC and can only be transfered onto an anolog device. if a VCR can capture the output, surely a PCI capture card on a PC could do the same? any other thoughts on this? regards, james

    Can someone identify this DVR?

it sounds like the DVR i buy won't last, will it last years or months? i have'nt decided on cameras yet, as i'm still figuring out the DVR, once i decide on that, then i'll look at cameras. regards, james

Concept DMR PLUS 4 Camera DVR

thx CCTVinstaller! but i've no other links to other dealers here in the UK for the AV-tech models, only US based, do you, or anyone know where i can get the AV tech DVR's in the UK? regards, james
  6. hi all, after reading about how unreliable cheap DVR's can be, i'm a bit cautious on what model to now buy. Problem is, not many have audio, which is what i require, so i'm not left with much choice. i found a UK dealer which offers different manufacturers of 4 channel DVR's and only one has audio - http:// http://www.iviewcameras.co.uk/CONCEPT_DMR4PLUSCCTVSystemsdeals.htm i have a couple of questions. the backup method is via VCR, but i would like to backup to PC, is this possible in any way? i.e take the output from the DVR and capture it via the PC. if not, could i remove the DVR's hard drive and hook it up to a PC and take off the data to burn it onto CD? (presuming the file system can be read by windows and the video footage can be read or converted to a recognized video format) i would also like to hook the DVR up to a LCD screen, this Concept DVR has a BNC output and states it can plug into a TV (using the TV scart input) can a BNC output also plug into a LCD TV/Monitor??? (which may not have a scart input, i think it an AV input) i'm just starting to realize i need to make sure what i get is compatible with other equipment i buy, so any help on this is appreciated. sorry for so many questions regards, james

thx CCTVINSTALLER for the link, it's a shame there is no audio! when you talk about these cheap DVR's as 'unrealiable' what does that actually mean? does it mean after a few years it will cease to work, or the system after some use begins to freeze or crash? regards, james
  8. thx guys for the info, i'm still looking at some other DVR's but not many offer audio. regards, james

    Can someone identify this DVR?

what specs does the HiSharp have? is there a website i can visit? also if i buy a DVR from the US, are the electrical specs able to cope with the difference in electrical systems ( we have 240v, i know europe and US run different electrical systems) i've read a lot about the reliability of these PC based DVR's and wondered how often do they actually crash? is it due to them being run 24/7? what if you rebooted the device daily, would that help reliability? it's getting confusing!!

    Can someone identify this DVR?

it will be for home use only and i don't really need lots of function. what i do need is reliability, are there any known issues with these models? do they freeze up or crash regularly? my budget is around 300-500 UK pounds (about $800) what would anyone recommecnd? i only need 4 channels and be able to record sound as well, and at least 25fps per camera regards, james
  11. i'm still trying to understand all these terms to try and establish if the DVR i am about to purchase will do what i want it to do, when the specs refer to multiplexing, does that mean it is capable of recording both video and sound? the item i'm looking at on ebay appears to be a AV- Tech DVRAVC771 - http://www.avtech.com.tw/english/product_13_771.htm - does anyone know if this can record both video and sound from all 4 cameras simultaneously? also, Quad size 100 images/sec, does this mean the DVR can record each of the 4 cameras at 25fps (100/4?) simultaneously? thanks for any help regards, james
  12. hi, i am looking to buy a 4 channel DVR and saw a few on ebay, but would like to get the full specs. as there is no manufacturer names, i wondered if someone recognized these machines and the weblink to the manufacturers websites the ebay links are http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=3834609442 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=60839&item=5714878066&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW thanks for any help. regards james
