    Rear view car cams

You have to make sure the camera provides a reversed image.
  2. You may want to consider this Powermax+ security system as a simple alternative. Besides the normal door and window sensors, you can add a panic button that can be used to trigger the alarm. When triggered, the system can call out to any phone or call a monitoring company. If you have it call you, you can answer and listen to what's happening at the other end, plus you can talk over its loudspeaker. It acts like an auto-answer speakerphone. Other good things - you can access the unit via the web and receive alarms or control it. It also has integrated IP cameras that you can view via the web same web interface, that will record when the alarm is triggered. One limitation - you have to use their IP cameras. And the update rate and picture quality are not great, but it gets the job done. I'm very happy with my system.

    Abnormal Program Termination

OK, I swapped the card into another PC and it seems to be working OK. This is an Abit motherboard and AMD 3100+ CPU. I tried version 8.0 and 8.12 in the Dell but was getting the same error, so I guess the Geovision doesn't like Dell PCs as was mentioned earlier.

    Abnormal Program Termination

The easiest thing to do is try it in another PC, so I'll do that next. I received both versions 8.02 and 8.1 with the card. I'm going to try the older version and maybe the newer 8.11 also. Funny thing is, the program will run for days with no problems. Only when starting it up after a reboot. Which leads me to think it's a software problem, not hardware, otherwise it wouldn't run so good on the chipset and video card I have. One interesting thing I noted - the uninstall program leaves a lot of garbage in the registry, that needs to be cleaned out when re-installing before the program will work again. Very sloppy. But thanks for you suggestions. I'll let you know how it works out.

    Abnormal Program Termination

PC is a Dell Dimension 4550 with 2.4 Ghz P4 and 768 Mb RAM. The video card is an ATI Radeon 8500. No anti-virus software or anything else running. Not sure which chipset - I have to check. Could this be the problem with the Dells that someone mentioned earlier? What chipsets are incompatible? I guess I could try installing the GV in a different PC but would prefer to keep using this one. Would it be worth trying an earlier version of the software? Thanks for any help or suggestions.

    Abnormal Program Termination

Well, that doesn't really solve anything. I could just turn the PC off and then I wouldn't get the error either. I don't have automatic updates turned on anyway. Any time the PC has to reboot for whatever reason, the Geovision program gives a runtime error when it tries to restart. That means this software is buggy.

    Abnormal Program Termination

I'm running a GV-600 and v8.1. The program will run for days with no problem, but when the PC reboots for any reason, like when I get a Windows update, I get this error. The only way to get around it is to uninstall all Geovision software, run a registry scrubber, then re-install. This gets everything working again, and I retain all previous settings. But next reboot and I have to do it all over again. Very frustrating. I've sent this bug report to Geovision but have gotten no response. I will next be trying the new version 8.11 or maybe go back to 8.0.

    Help with Webserver and FTP

Thanks, cmf. Yes, I think I have all the right settings - ftp username/password/etc. I have the cameras selected and the image for each camera gets sent one time when I click the transfer button. After that, nothing. I'll check the ftp server logs.

    Help with Webserver and FTP

Update on problem #1 - my new ISP does block inbound port 80, so mow I need to find an open outbound port on my office firewall other than 80.

OK that's good to know. Thanks. How often do updates come out?

    Help with Webserver and FTP

My ISP doesn't block port 80, because I've run other web servers on that port. I've tried 80 and 81, 8080, etc. I've tried many other ports that I know are open on the PC I'm trying to connect from. Thanks for the reply, metsfan. (go phillies) Anyone have any other ideas? Or any help with my FTP problem?

    Connecting to IP camera

Thanks for the reply. That's too bad that you have to pay out another $500 in order to connect IP cameras. I don't see the point if all you want to do is connect regular cctv cameras. Why not just upgrade to another GV card? Plus their video server does nothing for a wireless IP camera, which you can get pretty cheap. I guess I'll start looking for other software.

    Connecting to IP camera

I searched through the messages for something about connecting an IP camera to Geovision and saw only one post on the subject (which I'm not allowed to provide a link to), which said that this is not possible to do. In version 8.1 of the program, there is a selection on the Configure menu for "Camera / Audio Install", which has a sub-menu called "IP Camera Install". Selecting this opens the IP Camera Setup box, where you are able to enter the camera IP address, port, etc. It certainly appears like you are able to connect to an IP camera. But when I enter the info for my IP camera, and ask to connect, I get an error saying "Unable to connect to the video server". Is this function not working yet? The menu option is not mentioned in the users manual for v8.1. Do I need additional hardware to make this work? I have used many other webcam programs that allow connection to an IP camera, so it doesn't seem to be a difficult thing to do. Why can't Geovision do this?

    Help with Webserver and FTP

I'm new to this board and first-time poster. I have searched the manual and this board and cannot find answers to my problems. Problem 1 - I am unable to connect to the webserver from outside my LAN. The webserver is activated, all the proper ports are setup and forwarded on the router, the firewall is turned off on the PC. I can connect from another PC within the LAN. What am I missing? Problem 2 - How do I set up GV to FTP video snapshots to a website on a periodic basis? I set up the FTP server/port/user/etc and when I click the button to transfer camera images, that sends images one time. When I select the file delay, say 10 seconds, I would expect to get new images uploaded every 10 sec, but no more images are sent. Sorry for the noob questions. Thanks in advance for any help.
