  1. Makes me wonder how these cameras will work this summer. If the IR lamp is going to attract bugs like an incandescent bulb the camera will be recording most of the night
  2. Yes, I thought of that. One thing is if I use a separate IR illuminator the camera still needs to be in IR mode. Is there a way to have the camera in IR mode but with the IR lamp off so it doesn't illuminate the floaters
  3. Not see this with the 2.8mm but OK. Not really the storage its the looking through all the false recordings that a pain. Not that I'm doing it that much...
  4. Here's a link to a short (~5mb) video of the issue. Watch the wall between the pictures. http://gofile.me/2fscZ/uSzcCELa
  5. The object acts more like a bug rather than dust simply because the speed at which it passes across the screen but there are no bugs in the house this time of year and the other camera is outside. Yes there is dust in the house and could be some type of particle flying around outside but the third camera (2.8mm) has not shown this behavior Maybe anything in the air is too small to trip the camera in the wide angle version. Don't really know but still wonder if anyone else is seeing this behavior. Tried to upload a short video but site says file type not allowed
  6. Anyone else having issues with their Hikvision cameras in IR mode? I have 3 of the 2332's. At least two of them have an issue while in IR mode. The two with the issue are both 4mm the third is a 2.8. Over night I seem to be getting more recordings than can be accounted for by movement in the camera's view. After reviewing the recordings, many are tripped by what looks like an insect or bubble flying past the camera. Sometimes the bubble crosses the screen and other times it comes from the center and pass out to the edge. It wouldn't be such an issue except that it can trip several recordings an hour. One of the cameras is inside the other is out in the cold. Anyone else seen this? I got the camera from a seller in China on ebay. I'd like to get some more but would like to figure this out first. The image I attached shows one of these bubbles passing from around the center of the screen to the edge. BTW I have firmware 5.2. Also I called Hik and they said for support I need to buy from an authorized US reseller .
  7. Nevermind I got it figured out. " title="Applause" />
  8. Can anyone help me setup my hikvision 2332 camera for https connections? The info I found online talks about checking the enable box on the https tab. I don' see this or a save box. What I have done is create a self-signed certificate by inputting the country, ip and validity period, it does flash saving at the bottom of the page when I click ok. I then try to access the camera using the url https://IP:443. No connection... What am I missing. No real experience with this feature. thanks
  9. If your worried about the mobile app then you really don't wanna use there http://www.ezviz7.com/ solution. Once the cameras call home they could have complete control of your camera and video I'm no networking expert by far and for a while I kinda enjoyed setting up my home network but after a while it gets to be a pain in the a$$. I seem to have enough experience that at least part of the time I can recognize that there is a security issue even if I don't understand it. To get started with the security cameras I bought a wireless Dlink. To set it up and use their moble app, they want me to make an account on their web site with all the camera info and the logon for my router Yes it makes it easy to setup and I hope dlink keeps the info secure but I'm not going to expose my network to that risk. Works fine with my synology and Security Camera Viewer.
  10. Overloard, thanks for taking the time to post. Very informative. I think there is a difference between paranoia and recognizing vulnerability. Boogiemans point is valid though, both apps have similar vulnerabilities. After reading the book Stonewalled I think differently about net security even though I don't see myself as a target for any legitimate reason. http://www.amazon.com/Stonewalled-Obstruction-Intimidation-Harassment-Washington-ebook/dp/B00HLIYWA8/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1420747811&sr=8-1&keywords=sheryl+atkinson
  11. I'm just wondering if anyone has concerns about putting their camera logon into the Hikvision android app. For now I've been using the IP Camera Viewer app but I think the Hikvision (ivms-4500HD) app may be better. Little worried the app could collect logons and ip
  12. Never ordered off of Ali, now I remember why... No paypal! Really hate giving out my CC number
  13. Sounds good. Is the multinational one ok for the states and for firmware updates? Ebay shipped from the states should be faster than Aliexpress but almost $30 more.
  14. Thanks that looks interesting. I kinda like the doom because it's hard to tell where they are pointed and perhaps better protected. The turret look nice because it seem like it would be easier to quickly reposition the camera which I may want to do temporary. Here's a couple of other I am considering. http://www.amazon.com/Dahua-IPC-HDBW4300E-Megapixel-Network-Security/dp/B00OHY26YS/ref=sr_1_18?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1418015077&sr=1-18&keywords=Dahua+cameras http://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2032-I-Outdoor-Bullet-Security/dp/B00G7GMEOG http://www.amazon.com/Hikvision-DS-2CD2132-I-Fixed-Focal-Camera/dp/B00EJXK0I6/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1418081441&sr=8-2&keywords=hikvision+ds-2cd2132-i
  15. I'm looking for an 2 or more megapixel security camera to connect to my Synology SS and later use with blue iris. Can anyone recommend a camera with the following specs... 2 or more megapixel outdoor with ir POE don't really need zoom but would like pan and tilt. (Not sure this is an option in the ceiling type dome cameras) works with Synology SS and Blue iris ~ $200-300 New to this stuff and not finding what I'm looking for. Thanks
