  1. I use Digifort software in combiation with Riva cameras. This software supports VCA metadata from Riva cameras. Also, Exacq should support, but i'm doesnt test this combination.

Also, regarding VCA, will not be triggerd by moving trees, etc. Camera will not follow, as an example, moving vehicles, dogs, but will follow humans. Also, will track the same object in situations, when another moving objects will appears in camera field of view. Sample videos:
  3. You should use converters. Bosch autodome has only Biphase and RS232 ports, both with Biphase comunication protocol. You should use this converter, as an example: http://www.sennetech.net/Manuals/SCT100/sct-100-panasonic-bosch.pdf
  4. Also Bosch use recording directly to NAS (iSCSI protocol). And free viewing software, up to 16 cameras. Range of Bosch cameras is wide, from cheap to "hi end", with inteligent image analytic, etc...
  5. Hello, I have few questions about Dahua equipment. Does DH-SD6582/82A-HN 2Mp dome has privacy masking? How much privacy zones? Does 4 channels NVR supports 3rd party IP cameras (ONVIF)? Does DSS software can control "Monitor wall"? Does DSS software have possibility to receive streams from 3rd party cameras (ONVIF)? How DSS usualy operates with streams from cameras - via NVR or directly from cameras? Thanks in advance

Licences cost is based on cameras quantity, but no MAC addresses, like Milestone. Also, encoders recomendation: http://www.rivatech.de/index.php/en/products/video-encoder Digifort (Professional and Enterprise versions) supports video analytic from this encoders and simple motion detection, so less processing power on server will be used.

I will reccomend to use VMS client software on smartphone and WiFi. Or, IP cameras with analog output. For final focus settings best way - IP cameras fith remote focus or autofocus functionality.
  9. For this solution i will reccomend you Mobotix cameras. I'm doesn like Mobobotix, as a "movie" camera, but its good "still" camera. Also, Mobotix has special antidust coating.   10. ground loop .....cat5 ..... with HD ??? more like poor coax or run is to long.. which cameras do you have ? He has HD-SDI cameras Alex, HD-SDI - it's also digital signal (800 mV (±10%) ), and analog ground loops will not cause this effect. This can not be ground loop problem directly. I thing, problem in power supply. Also, jrc, are you shure, tat you have 1080p HD cameras? It looks, like you have "tradditional" cameras.... Can you write the cameras model?
  11. that partly depends on the recorder and how it implements motion detection. on the systems i use, it's a very minimal performance hit. also, many cameras have their own motion detection, and the nvrs that work with them just take the signal from the camera... so again, it's little or no actual performance hit on the nvr end. This depends, how NVR do motion recording. If NVR use motion recording, based on motion detection from camera - it's like no aditional load on NVR. If NVR has it's own motion detection - processor load will increase dramatically, but also depends on stream from camera - compression format (mjpeg, H264, MPEG4, etc.), and on incoming video stream resolution and frame rate.

  14. This can be ground loop problems. Try to use ground loop isolating transformer on video cable.
  15. If you want "free" soft, use Zoneminder http://www.zoneminder.com/ Another, with no update fee and lots o cameras support - Digifort. http://digifort.com/home But, be carful, Digifort use motion detection at server side with most cameras.
  16. This can be Line Lock issue. If you have "noisy" AC power (this can be caused by another electrical equipment in building or if you use UPS with not clear sinus output), just disable Line Lock function in camera.
  17. I better get my order in now, beat the rush. I'm see M15 at IFSEC last year. 5MP sensor sensitivity is better, but still has dynamic range problems. But, no implementations on B/W sensor. Instead of B/W sensor will be thermal sensor This not a joke. Mobotix cameras is not bad. But Mobotix is good "still", but not "movie" camera buellwinkle, great blog (y)
  18. In my video You can see both Mobotix sensors comparsion - Color and B/W. B/W sensor has better sensitivity, but not enaugh, but dynamic range is worse, than color sensor....
  19. Yes, this true. But Mobotix has very bad sensitivity (good only with slow shutter speed), and, at this shutter speed, it is possible to see only noise, but not an image, at dark coditions.
  20. Yes, left is Mobotix. This video show just main differences in "native" sensitivity and dynamic range. Number plates capture was not a target in this video.
