  1. I was just looking at that exact camera. I guess I was assuming from the pictures, they were the same size as my hand-held Sony Handycam hard drive camera. But after doing some more checking, I think they are just over 3in long and 2in high and wide. I think that is going to be the best solution for me at this time. Thanks.
  2. Yeah, it would have the plug for auto iris. I figured if it could provide power for the auto iris, auto focus would be no big deal, but it appears the options are limited. I planned to use this for a front camera in a vehicle setup. There are units that are basically like what I want, but they are the camera and lens combined, almost like a camcorder with a harddrive and only an output. They are fairly large though, and look like a camcorder (worried about theft), and most are no name junk. I was hoping I could just get a good small box camera so I could manually zoom in on something I needed quickly without having to deal with the focus.
  3. I just need to be able to manually zoom and not have to think about touching the focus, much like a camcorder. Does such a lens exist for a box camera?

Help with box camera in bird house design

Well I think I'm going to be going without the Illuminator and just have the camera, but I'm looking at having 3 cameras in the same box. Truthfully after using my first real camera with high res and low lux, I don't know if I could ever consider anything but a real box camera again unless it was in my vehicle setup or something. I seriously can't wait until I get home again tonight to play with the camera and look at the clear picture.

Help with box camera in bird house design

UH OH. I was really hoping it was going to be okay in the heat. I've never used an outdoor type enclosure, but could never understand how a fan would work. Won't it being open to air, allow moister in? Thanks for the reply.
  6. Camera is marked 24VAC, but isn't this connection a 12VDC?

Does CCTV system affect home value?

True. Like in my city, not only do you have to pay the monthly monitoring fee, but also a fee to the city. Get 2 false alarms, and not your paying even more. More work too, with setting and disarming all of the time. I don't think I've ever seen "CCTV system" listed in a home for sale ad though. Any of the pros ever thought of using it as a selling tool?
  8. For one of my cameras in my system, I'm looking to put it in a bird house mounted securely to a tree. The camera is a Bosch LTC 0355/20 with a Bosch 5-50MM lens. First of all, if the box camera is in a water tight wood birdhouse, will there be heat problems? I'm also thinking of adding a separate IR illuminatior inside the bird house. I've never worked with these before; will they create a lot of heat? I'm really just trying to avoid buying a real outdoor enclosure cause it will look goofy mounted in my tree since it's close to the side walk and may make the neighbors wonder.

Does CCTV system affect home value?

Do you think a majority of buyers would feel the same? Do you think having a system installed, for people not likely to pay to put one in, might increase the chance of them buying? Maybe unknowingly spend a little more for the house? Or do you think people will see it as an eyesore (even nicely done) and spend less or avoid the house all together.
  10. I'm getting ready to install a 6-8 camera system at my house and would like to know what every one thinks a CCTV system does to home value. I live in a bigger city that does have crime problems (normally #1 each year in the country), but I live in the better part. There still is a decent amount of property crime though. I've looked, and I've not seen one other other house in the area with a camera system. Will putting in a system at my house affect the home value in any way?
  11. I'm kinda working on a mess around project and need the cheapest quad that has motion which auto switches that camera to full screen on a call type monitor. I'm looking to spend less than $100. I found some on ebay that claim motion detection, but I don't know if they switch to full screen or not. What other reason would you have the motion part then? Just some examples. http://cgi.ebay.com/Quad-for-Security-DVR-system-Video-CCD-Camera-CCTV-c43_W0QQitemZ190252957052QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item190252957052&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318 http://cgi.ebay.com/3P61-Mini-4-CH-Real-Time-Color-Quad-Processor-w-Remote_W0QQitemZ270318245150QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item270318245150&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A4|65%3A15|39%3A1|240%3A1318

Looking good man! Glad to see you got it up and working.
  13. Yeah, the DVR has a cable that goes to the start ignition wire so it won't try to run on some crazy start up voltage. I'm going to be using the wire that finally does give power to the DVR, with a relay so it turns the cameras on once the car has safe voltage. You guys really have me wanting them on all of the time now though. I could probably hook them up to a car alarm motion sensor so any action would kick the DVR and cameras on and record it. That wireless transmitter would be awesome!
  14. Yeah, I'd like to be able to keep them on all of the time, but I just don't think it's going to be possible without really working the battery. I think the Mobile DVR is 10A. So that plus everything else, and it wouldn't take too long to run it down.
  15. Okay. Thank you. That's what I thought, but wanted to check with you guys. I've got three 1/3" sony CCD 4.3MM lens cameras and four 1/3" Samsung CCD B/W cameras. I think the mobile DVR takes 10A too. The cameras and video will only be on when the car is on, or when triggered by hidden switches/remotes or when the alarm goes off. About how long do you think it would take before it makes the vehicle unable to start? I can have my 15Amp radio on for 5-6 hours before I can't start the car anymore.
