  1. Yeah, me too. As an aside, I did speak with technical support today who told me that only the following models are POS compatible: DS-7716NI-SP/16, DS-90xxNI-ST, DS-96xxNI-ST All known as their 'Netra' Series.
  2. bump. I am very interested to know if Hokvision NVR software has any type of POS integration functionality built into their NVR's. This is all I have found: http://bkgrupe.lt/uploads/docs/Hikvision/POS%20Text%20Overlay%20Solution.pdf
  3. Does anyone have experience with this camera model? I am thinking of purchasing some but have not found any reviews online regarding them. Any help would be appreciated! http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1162167-REG/hikvision_ds_2cd2142fwd_is_2_8mm_4mp_wdr_fixed_dome.html
  4. Just curious to know if anyone has any experience with the Hikvision ds-9632NI-H8. I did a search in the forums here and don't find any info on them. Curious to hear what peoples reviews were.
  5. Hi All, I recently purchased an Avertx system from Costco: http://www.costco.com/AvertX-16-Channel-HD-IP-NVR-with-6TB-HDD%2c-10-Autofocus-4MP-Cameras-with-100'-Night-Vision.product.100221880.html After having them setup for several weeks now, I am getting terrible performance (since day 1). On 2 cameras I am receiving 15 FPS, on the remaining 8 I get somewhere between 2-6 FPS. When you play things back it looks miserable and on the very low FPS cameras all you can see are motion blobs when people move through the view. Anyhow, after speaking with the company several times they are telling me that there must be a firmware issue and a fix will need to be put into the development cycle... with no ETA. Craziness. Surely this must be a common problem! Thank god for Costco's return policy! I think I am best to take these back and get something else setup... the hard part is done, the wires are run and ready! Can someone please provide me some brands/models of dome cameras and NVR's that would come recommended from the knowledgeable people on this forum? I am looking for: 1. HD-IP PoE dome cameras (8 are indoor and 2 will be outdoor) 2. NVR 3. Remote access/playback... a phone/tablet app is a plus. 4. Looking for high frame rate capture, play back, and high MP capture (3+MP) 5. Cameras need Night Vision 6. Autofocus on cameras is a plus 7. Audio is a plus 8. Motion detection I would imagine you can probably get the idea of what type of system I am looking for by this point. Any information and/or recommendations you can provide would be very helpful! We spent around $4k on the avertx system, as an aside. Thanks!
  6. Want to thank you again for the reply and information. I have put the following together and need some advice: NVR: http://www.neobits.com/hikvision_ds_9632ni_h8_hikvision_ds_9632ni_h8_p8495003.html?atc=gbp&gclid=CNf9ksitx8gCFQgHaQodCz8KAg HDD: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1102931-REG/wd_wd60purx_purple_surveillance_6tb_3_5.html Camera: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1183002-REG/hikvision_3mp_hd_outdoor_poe.html -OR- http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1185179-REG/hikvision_ds_2cd2142fwd_is_4mm_4mp_wdr_fixed_dome.html So, a couple of questions: 1. Looks like that NVR should be more than enough and be able to scale for the future if we add more cameras... agree? 2. I am looking to keep around 10-15 days of video. Do you think 2-6TB drives would be sufficient? Do you have a RAID configuration/suggestion? 3. Any comments on the 2 camera styles that I picked out? Any experience with either? Any reason to look at one over the other? Thanks again for your continued help!
  7. They are the cables that came with the system. So Cat5e. I did have an issue with one of the cables not working at all... I re-ran it with a spindle of some Cat5e cable I had around the house and got it running but that cable is giving low bandwidth as well. I attached a screenshot of the camera info from the NVR so you can see what I am talking about. All of the cameras share the exact same configuration. Perhaps it would be beneficial to unplug a cable from the back of the NVR that has a high bandwidth and plug it into a port of one that doesn't... just to ensure it's not a priority thing with the NVR? Not sure, just spit-balling some possible troubleshooting ideas. When I spoke with the manufacturer they told me it was probably a camera firmware issue but they were not sure when they may have a fix. Would it be advantageous to look at a higher quality NVR/NAS like Synology or QNAP? Don't know much about them but they seem to have better write/read speeds, etc...
  8. Unfortunately no replies... Let me ask this a different way: If you had $4000.00 to spend on 10 IP cameras and an NVR... what would you get? There are just so many options that it is unbearable to jump in and read about... driving me crazy! Just want high resolution and smooth playback.
  9. We have an antiquated system that needs a complete overhaul! We want to do an IP system using PoE. We will need 8-10 cameras with a dedicated NVR. The cameras should be dome and offer 1080p video. I found these Hikvision DS-2CD2132-I cameras on amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EJXK0I6/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=A2LZ6RSJUGKOVR) and they seemed like a pretty good price. Any issues with these cameras? Is there a better model someone would recommend? Also, I will need an NVR and this is where I really get stumped! I have been looking around and reading these forums but can't seem to find what it is I need... or at least I am confusing myself! It is important that we have remote viewing via an android/iOS app as that will be used 99% of the time... unless there is of course a robbery. I am assuming that motion detection and other features are fairly standard anymore with these IP systems. I had originally started looking at this AvertX system at Costco, which gets very mixed reviews here on this forum: http://www.costco.com/AvertX-16-Channel-HD-NVR-Security-System-with-6TB-HDD-and-10-Autofocus-4MP-HD-IP-Cameras.product.100221880.html Anyone have any qualms with those? The only one I notice is that I feel like I could probably piece a systemm together for a much cheaper price. Any help the pros at this forum could offer would all be greatly appreciated as I am finding much of this rather confusing. Thanks!
