  1. What is the best value 1080p camera for around £70?

Any Ip or AHD camera will do.

    I can get a TVi

    DS-2CE56D7T-ITM for around £50.

Anyone suggest a better camera? Good night vision is the priority.

  2. I think you only get ground loop problems when two cameras are connected to two different earthing systems so therefore in your own house that is impossible.

A large site may have more than one earth and this can create earth loop problems.

    Do you have another psu?

Swap the "faulty" camera to the good psu output?

  3. I have been asked to install a cctv system for a friend and as i have installed Hikvision before i have decided to use their equipment again. However the choice of equipment and the different technologies is mind boggling.

I have now decided on two kits. One is IP(4Mp) the other Tvi(2Mp). At first i thought IP was the only way to go but is Tvi 3.0 more suited to a four bedroom house?

I would really appreciate and advice on the pros and cons of the two.

    IP Kit 4Mp - System

    Hikvision DS-7608NI-E2/8P/A - £188

    Hikvision DS-2CD2T42WD-I5 - £125 x 6

    Western Digital Purple 4TB - £145

    Total - £1083

    Tvi Kit 2Mp - System

    Hikvision DS-7208HUHI-F2/N - £215

    Hikvision DS-2CE16D7T-IT3Z/G -£78 x 6

    Western Digital Purple 4TB - £145

    Total - £828

  4.

Your screen resolution is irrelevant...the benefit of higher resolution cameras is that that you get more detail when you zoom in. There is very little actual pixel density benefit when going from 3mp to 4mp though..the primary benefit is the low light improvement.

Am i right in saying that most 3/4 megapixel cameras display live video as 1080p which is approx 2 megapixels? Thus as you say makes the additional pixels over 2 mega only useful for zooming in?

  5. Hi all.

I think i have a Swann Advanced Series 8 channel dvr.

I have set up so i can remote view and it works well. As i do not have a static ip i have registered at Swann DDNS to use their service. However everytime i log into the Swann DDNS it says "ip not updated yet." If my external ip changes i fear i will not be able to remote view.

Here are my settings using the netviewer:

I see no swanndvr.net. Why is this please? Also what is 3322?

    Many thanks.

  6. I have a new pc but have lost the CD that came with my Swann DVR4-1400.

I've tried to locate the software to log into the dvr on the Swann website but with no joy. As for Internet Explorer i just cannot get this to work. All i get is constant security warning, how i wish i could use google chrome.

Anyway does anyone have a link so i can download the software that comes with the dvr please?

    Oh decisions decisions!

  8. Now that the girlfriend won't let install anymore more security cameras (8 HK and 5 illuminators) - I am moving onto home security within our house. The house is prewired at the doors and the windows but the wires are unterminated down in the basement...

I thought some folks on this forum might be able to point me in right direction for home security forums - some research, forums, discussions, etc.

Here is what I am looking for:

    * Home Security Control Panel that has ethernet capability and ios / android apps

    * Wired solutions for windows and doors (not looking for any wifi capability)

    * A mid to higher end solution

From some initial research looking at the Honeywell Vista line - but really trying to get more feedback, opinions, and some recommendations.

    Thanks!

    Try these two my friend

  9. 1 - Yes. SADP is just for the basic IP config, and then everything else can be done from a web browser.

    2 - Yes.

    3 - PC or app.

4 - You need to buy one, up to 64Gb. Use a class 10 memory card.

    5 - It sure is!

Wow this is great thank you

Another question though if i may.

    1. How long will a 64Gb normally record for. From what i've read it depends on what it is recording but in general an estimated time?

  10. Hello cctv forum

Last week our garage was broken into so now after the horse has bolted we are looking at security systems. I will be fitting a simple burglar alarm tomorrow but i would also like the additional security of cctv that allows me to view the camera using my smart phone. However after reading up on what's available there seems to be a bewildering amount of choice.

Ii would very much appreciate any advice from the this forum so i do not waste unnecessary money buying the wrong equipment.

I am looking at the HIKVISION DS-2CD2032F-I 3MP 4mm Outdoor HD DWDR IR Bullet Network IP Camera POE ,SD Card Slot camera. The reason is because it has a SD card for recording.

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/HIKVISION-DS-2CD2032F-I-Outdoor-Bullet-Network/dp/B00Z6KHZ3O/ref=sr_1_21?s=photo&srs=2559966031&ie=UTF8&qid=1441433272&sr=1-21

    I have the following questions:

    1. Will i be able to connect this camera directly into my BT HomeHub router and using the SADP Hikvision software be able to view and program the camera?

    2. If i set up the ports correctly on my HomeHub will i be able to view the camera using the Hikvision App?

    3. Will i be able to view the recorded images on the SD card direct from my pc or app or will i have to physically remove the SD card and plug it into my pc?

    4. Does the camera come with an SD card installed or do i need to buy one?

    5. I understand that a Nvr is the normal way to record images but as i only have one camera and only need max 30 mins recording is a SD card suitable?

Thank you in advance for any replies
