    Mini nvr questions

You can connect to mini NVR directly (mouse connected to USB port and HDMI/VGA) and you can connect through IE/FF from your local LAN network. You will have NOT identical settings/access. I got answer from escam about setting up their cams and miniNVR - will test this next week and come back with results to forum.
  2. Are led beside Rj-45 connector blinking when you plug cable to router/PC? I use fing box (program) (on android) to search local LAN network for newly connected addreses - you can use it as well, or other software to discover local network.

    Mini nvr questions

Mike Mahon, are you still visiting this forum? I have read all 66 pages of this thread and to be honesty I'm impressed of M.M. work. I have done for my own over 500 lines of notes Sad, there is a no "list" (even done by users) which cameras and disks are working ok with particular update/hardware. This hardware (I mean mini NVR v1) is a unexpensive and look so promising. Personally I have NVR6200-8E and ESCAM QD900 wifi cameras (based on Hi3518 chip. I suppose this should work with I13- Hichip setup. I have ordered few more ESCAM's - for test - QD520 and QD300. Next: Back to issues with motion detection there was few tips done by M.M. and other persons. If you want to test definitely use WHOLE area (select all) - not selected regions only and try to remove all passwords (for tests). Next thing - access, menu and provilegs from web user and directly connected user (mean VGA/HDMI + mouse) are NOT same. I'm not sure if this will help, but probability to have working motion detection is a higher. Good luck lads, keep trying - and if you will found something - dont forget to say
  4. Yeah, he is right, LAN/WAN communication is restricted/filtered on home routers. Other way to use "home routers" is: - disable DHCP on one on them (as only one can and should provide addresses) - use SAME network and connect them by one of their LAN ports (so LAN to LAN not LAN to WAN or WAN to WAN ports). You will have one port less on each on them, but there will be no problem with port forwarding. Similar configuration I have at this moment at home, but I use different type of routers (Netgear and Huawei)
  5. Yeah, not worth to buy for old, spare camera I have. Thanks for help - now I know have to forget this solution.
  6. Can you suggest any new, cheap product capable to convert analog signal from old camera (Panasonic WV-CL830) to IP signal? Or just bin it and buy proper IP camera instead?

    Hi from Ireland

Hi again lads! I don't want to ignite this type of "flame war" on forum with my first appearance. Sorry about that. I can understand somebody with huge experience can quite quick judge hardware/software. And is a nothing strange each user can prefer some brands due installation, handling, quality, performance, price etc. I do same ("hate" one from popular Japanese brand of phones, audio systems, game console due to company policy, hardware issues when try to connect to Linux systems and market behaviour). Otherwise I have really good experience with some models of "cheap and cheerful" camera flash Younguo. When I will have hardware in my hands I try to do deep relation of my point of view including videos and handling (as QD900 is a not wider reviewed on YT). I have already read http://www.cctvforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=47517 but this is 2 years old, what is a long time in electronic. My ordered system was: 2x € 58 + € 41 = € 157, but in real I have paid less due promotion (China, including P&P, ex taxes). I already have some routers, cables, HDD for storage. System should inform me something is going on my property - alert me (email with pictures/linked live stream is a best). What system with 2 cameras can do similar job (say up to € 200) ?

    Hi from Ireland

Bad news for me Escams are so poor rated They are on the way for me, and cant sent them back. Will test them (to know what is a bad) and sell then. At this moment I use at home 3 routers, each 4 port - due my LAN port needs. I do graphical works extensively using NAS and I prefer 1Gbit network (was used 100Mbit and was too slow, swapped to 1Gbit and I'm pretty happy with practical file transfers 80-90MB/s). I know transfers on cams are definitely lower, but idea of having 1 switch and 1 router for Internet instead 5 separate boxes and 5 chargers sounds for me better - don't have to configure everything separately etc. Maybe midspan injectors will do the job as POE sources.

    Hi from Ireland

Thanks for advice, Already ordered two QD900 and 8 channel "Escam" mini NVR. Have spare USB 320GB disc, for beginning tests should be good enough. If they will be ok - will go next 2 or 3 from same maker - if I will be no happy with them I will go to another brand/model. I have home network, but unfortunately routers are not POE and partially it is not 1Gbit I'm should buy 16 port POE switch with 1Gbit Ethernet but not at this moment, my family cant afford more of electronic "toys"
