    Hacked or Bug?

I have a problem with my dahua hcvr5108c-v2 from over a month. The static ip address keeps on changing to: IP : 10.95.190.83 Gateway 10.95.190.206 Primary DNS :1.2.3.4 Secondary DNS: 1.2.3.5 I correct it and every single time it changes to this. I changed passwords, default ip addresses in my dvr and router and all ports in my dvr. Still keeps on changing. Apart from this all my camera feeds are watermarked HACKED. All camera names are changed to hacked1, hacked2 and so on. What or who is screwing with me?Also i dont seem to find any new firmware on dahua's website.

    Hacked or Bug?

Can't you just port forward the dvr port(s)? Or better yet, run a VPN server on your router? With DMZ all your ports are open. Well I don't know much about port forwarding. Which ports do I forward to view my DVR's feed over the internet?

    Hacked or Bug?

Whoa.. really, are tplink most hackable among routers? I did upgrade the firmware to the most recent one (april 2017) and then changed default ip, changed passwords and disabled few services. But I have enabled DMZ on my router for my dvr to access the internet. Dahua website tells not to enable DMZ but my dvr doesn't connect to internet if I disable it.

    Hacked or Bug?

I need remote viewing on my dvr so making LAN only won't work for me. VPN i feel slows down the internet. Can you please tell me how to install a firewall? And is there a way to only allow certain ip addresses to access the dvr while restricting others?

    Hacked or Bug?

Yes i am using dahua DDNS service. I changed the domain name too. Yes the log shows 'system shut down. Abnormal boot' quite a few times.

    Hacked or Bug?

My device is now not even listed in dahua security's website. Hence i think no new firmware. The newer device with exactly same specifications is named HCVR5108c-s3. Can I install its firmware on my device (HCVR5208c-v2)

    Hacked or Bug?

The screen already show hacked and you still need to ask? Second wave of Dahua hacked started last week. What to do now? How to prevent future attacks then? Does dahua know this is happening because i have not found any new firmware till now. My firmware is dated 11/2014.

    Hacked or Bug?

All ports were set to default parameters. I changed them all to random values yesterday. Lets see what happens now. Here is a screenshot of the connection page. Also i could not find new firmware to my dvr model.

  11. Hi, I need to wire a dahua 2mp hdcvi camera approx 80ft from the DVR. I am considering to use a UTP cable with passive baluns. According to what i have read a lesser gauge cable such as 20 awg shows lesser voltage drops than a 24 awg cable, size of twisted pair being thicker (I may be wrong thou). Can i wire my camera with a 24 awg CAT5e cable with passive baluns with minimum loss of video signal and voltage drops within range? or should i use cable of other specification? Your suggestions would be of great help. My camera uses max 4.5w and voltage range is 12v±10%. Power supply is 12v 1amp.
  12. Hi, thanks for answering. What gauge cable should I use? Should I go for 24awg or lesser? Also what other better options I could go for?
  13. Hi I have a dahua HCVR 5108C-V2 HDCVI DVR, installed in it is a Toshiba 1 TB surveillance HDD. It worked fine for 5-6 months with an occassional crash which was corrected on formatting. Now from past few weeks HDD error or no disk comes up 2-3 times everyday. I have to switch dvr off and turn on everytime and format the disk. It records for 3-4 hours then crashes This is really annoying. What to do, please help? I am running 8 HDCVI cameras 2 of which are 1080p.rest 720p

Does it support or does it not?

Also can I use a CAT6 cable with Baluns.?
  15. Hi, I have Dahua HCVR 5108C-V2. In dahua's website it is categorised under 720p pro HDCVI DVR. They say it supports 720p realtime and also 1080p non realtime. I hooked two 2 mp HDCVI cameras on the DVR along with six 1 mp ones and what I see is that the images from those two 2 mp cameras are just aweful. No where it is closer to what 2 mp resolution should give, image is a little hazy even the color is also dull. Worst of all many times they shows black and white. When you turn camera power supply off and back on then they show color. Images from 1 mp cameras are far better. Camera encode is set to 1080p and bitrate is maxed to 4096, fps is set to 12. Does my DVR actually support 1080p non realtime?

I cannot post an exact pic now but it surely looks exactly like this. I tried soldering the BNC connectors on it but the outer wire loop does not hold solder. Cable was about 16$ for 90m. That cable is your problem ...... And soldering a BNC on to it will still not work You will need new cable Ok which cable to buy then? Optivision supplies cables. Can that be bought?

I doubt it is the powersupply or the cabling. That same supply and cabling powers 6 other cameras (four 1mp bullets and two 1mp domes - all dahua) and they work perfectly fine. I relocated a 1mp bullet (that was working absolutely fine) and replaced it with a 2 mp, with the same power and cabling as original. Cabling is a coaxial with power and audio. The 1080p cameras are CP PLUS CP-VC-T20L2 2mp with 20m IR and are brand new. This issue was right from the start and I can't figure why.

Does it support or does it not?

But what is up with image quality. It is poor. By support it means should be able to display and record 1080p video at 12 fps in good quality not just show some hazy picture which seems to be shot from a 15 yr old camera phone.

    Hard Disk crashing everyday.

Hi It can be 1 of 2 things, HDD or PSU, Try using a HDD TOOL software to test your HDD, I would recommend HD TUNE PRO,a HDD shouldn't crash at all, are you using a Surveillance HDD? If not I would seriously recommend that you do,other wise your HDD will crash all the time especially with a HDCVI system, you will need a HDD with no errors as the DVR is a security device and tries to save your data so it performs checks on the HDD all the time if it finds even the smallest error it will reboot and display HDD error or no HDD The PSU can also be a problem if the PSU is damaged and not pushing enough amps, so if it says 12v 2a it might only be pushing less than 1Amp, you can test with a amp meter or getting a New PSU with same or higher amps hope this helps Regards Hi, Thanks for help. I checked the HDD via HDD TUNE PRO and it was all mess. The SMART status was very poor. Funny I noticed clicking sound when the HDD was powered on that suggests it might have developed physical damage. PSU was ok, readings showed 12 2a. I got the disk replaced from Toshiba. I am still surprised it was a Toshiba 'surveillance' disk and 4 n half months of usage it has got damaged. I suspect heat to play a role in this. There is no cabinet fan in DVR. On operation Hard disk gets too hot even it I have the DVR in a well ventilated space. Do u think overheating causes the drive to crash? I am afraid it might happen again.

    Hard Disk crashing everyday.

My dealer says could be a problem with DVR power supply. Dvr seems to work fine. Could that be true?

    Hard Disk crashing everyday.

Is it normal for a hard disk to crash in 5-6 months of usage.? I think since the hard disk tends to get way too hot on usage. There is no fan to cool the disk. I have a mini dvr. I fear getting a new disk will meet the same fate. Does heat really can screw the disk way early?
  25. What is the best way to clean the glass of outdoor cameras? I used a cleaner (Colin) and wiped it with a soft cloth, the one they provide with spectacles. Is that a good practice? I noticed I may have scratched the glass of my dahua outdoor.
