  1. Run cameras to Poe switch. Connect nvr to switch. Connect wireless router to switch. You can access the nvr from any wireless device in the house. We use this setup on all of our installs. Typically we don't use the wifi but we have some customers who do not want the surveillance network touching their network. So they have to connect with laptops via wireless.. Also our techs can access the system without having to plug in. We have one install where everything is in an environmental enclosure we don't even have to leave our truck to access the system...
  2. If you are mounting the camera under the soffit I suggest you drill up into the soffit, pull your cable down and terminate, then push it back up into the soffit. It's not going to get wet.
  3. We use alot of Dahua product, mostly 4216 and their hybrid line. We use WD purple surveillance drives w/o issue. We use 3 or 4TB drives. Straight out of the box and install. We may format it once installed, not sure. But nothing special
  4. We would probably install a couple NVR's at the head end, and send the cameras back via point to point wireless devices. We use Ubuiqiti. You could also install an NVR at each building and stream the sub feed back to one building for central monitoring. Use the same wireless devices. How do you plan on wiring the buildings together? Is there conduit connecting them?
  5. Just saying hello. I am the new operations manager at a small but rapidly growing surveillance integrator. All we do is install IP systems, and some CVI upgrades. I am here on a quest to find some information regarding operations like salaries, management software, contract management, etc
  6. Simple process of elimination Try power cycling the switch first. then the NVR. Can you pull any of the cameras up from a desktop/laptop via a browser when this happens? Is there any type of power protection, surge suppressor etc? We have had some weird issues resolved by surge protectors.
  7. We looked at ihiji and it was a little more expensive due to their hardware and licensing fees. We are currently testing monitor.us and it looks promising. Thanks
  8. My goal is to have instant (within 30-60 minutes) notification when a camera or wireless device in the system goes down. Is there a service or system available that will ping all camera devices at a customers location continuously or on a schedule? I am looking for something that can monitor 100+ sites belonging to different clients. Alternatively can we get a managed switch on site to ping all devices, then notify us via email of any faults? Any ideas?
