Aopen has a ATX version also..................what this board brings to the table is an awesome overclocking feature. I recently started "burning" CPU's and found out some interesting things about overclocking.......but that is another thread for sure. The Aopen has what is called "Power Master" and is one of the leading "throttle" type boards that allows you to overclock in different modes. Check them out. I've been overclocking my test box for 6 months now and it has been running great. same config as above. am also running 16 cam's at 640x480 no problems........65%, 53', no hotter than 55' at full load. I wanted to see if it could be done with minium risk via the Aopen mb. Aopen ONLY overclocks when it is needed, not all the time. ie...peak recording with multiple web viewers. Next project is to overclock a 3.6................ much harder to do. oh, get the chip and mb in 775. better performance. this board has video, audio, and network..........great chip set.

call Thomas at Video Insight. He will answer all the questions you have concerning. Work with other Video cards? If your asking if it works with multiple Vidoe Insight cards then the answer is yes and then some. You'll like what Thomas has to say. In the case of Video Insight, the main reason I went with them from the start was because thier Support is awesome......nobody else can touch them. AND, the features of the softwrae compared to others is beyond what others can do right now. Video Insight can integrate into any infrastructure and deliver seemless productivity. I know it sounds like a sales pitch but I don't get anything for this..............I recomend based on facts and what I've experimented with before I made my decision. Once you have the card all you need to do is build around it. You'll actually have fun doing it.

not enough info.....need distance from and if you want to view that entire 400? There are many lense calculators out there..........do a web search or a search on the forum. 400 is a lot to view if........maybe your asking to view an object (person) at 400?

take a look at Video Insight cards. http://www.video-insight.com You can put these cards into your Servers and they will manage the camera via software/network. Once the cards are installed in all your 7 Servers you can selectively build screens on a client that will meet your viewing requirements. There is also a nice "layout" mode built intot he software that allows for embedding camera's into a jpg pic so all you'd need to do is bring up the floor plan of the building and you can just select the camera based obn the layout, not the camera #1. Video Insight has much more to offer and I am just touching the tip of the iceBERG. (ha ha) If you choose to rewire it you'll send 10 times the amount the cards would have cost you. I think if you read my post you'll see that I said what you said.....or is it he said he said? anyway, I'm sure nobody is going to run just because. there are many repeats on this forum and I hope we don't create another rule for everyday chit chat. But for the record; The person who creates a WIN XP Pro program that locks out the consumer/operator will make some cha'ching". Then the standalone will truley be an antique.

din connectors = cheap quality and if a professional instaled it I'd question the quality. facts are if they had to identify a perp from the video they would not get a clear pic of the face anyway, and details of the crime are lost in time lapse recorders. and if the police need the evidence they take the recorder because yoiu can't view a vhs time lapse on a regular video player. PC based is the best out there..my opinion. more features, easily upgraded, and integrates with most corporate infrastructures (Microsoft). facts are a standalone is a pc based system in a closed software package....meaning you can't goof around with it and break it. PC based are a nightmare if the owner thinks he/she is a geek. I use Video Insight cards and have not found anyone that can beat them in terms of quality and support.................all american, if you know what I mean.

1 - yes 2 - 640x480 a US standard, NTSC. PAL (EUROPE) has it's own set of resolutions/standards. More is better, plain and simple. BUT, see the below link to get a better understanding of "resolutions". to answer the question, I recommend 7 - 10 fps. you'll get fluid motion that represent a decent "live view". BUT, you can always set it higher and higher and you will see an improvement. The give and take here is storage space. More FPS more storage required. AND, your resolution needs to be set to the highest which will give you a clean crisp pic...BUT, more storage space required. quality has a price

is there a 75 ohm dip switch settings on the DVR? should be set to 75 ohm.

pm me and I'll allow you to see a install of mine that has a drive thru, text overlay on registers, and several indoor/outdoor camera's. concerning your questions..... outdoor camera's; If no lighting I go with the 9100EX and if lited I go with a decent low light outdoor armor dome. indoor camera's; I'd go with color, highres, low light, varifocal, smoke domes. smoke to hide the direction of the camera. on the registers I position the camera's directly above (ceilings are 8ft false) and the varifocals will allow you to adjust pic to your needs. as far as cold weather; I would not worry about it as most camera's can handle the temps you are listing above. You'll have a year or more warranty on the cams so make sure if you run into probs that you have reviewed the return policies BEFORE you purchase. Color zoom on register? I think that maybe a waste of money unless you are going to sit and zoom all day. Your overall "quality" will be in the camera + resolution + recorded resolution = great pics. Make a solid note on the "recorded resolution" and make sure you understand the differences between a 320x240 pic and a 640x480 pic. the differences in quality are night and day and the higher recorded resolution will eat CPU and hard drive space so make sure that you allow for that. ie. i have 16 cams running at 640x480, motion recording, 7fps, 30bpf....on a 3.4E Server that consumes 55% of the CPU processing power when at an "idle" but it will jump up when motion starts recording and will hold at 95% or better when Server is handling a WEB viewer. ie. the install mentioned above is a 15 camera system on a 3.4 with 6 camera's at 640x480 and the rest at 320x240........CPU runs at 55% and runs a constant 85% when busy and the WEB viewer pushes it to 100% easy....but since it is not viewed by anyone but me and the owner the WEB view CPU usage is np. storage on both (ie) is approx. 1 week on the 640x480 and 3 weeks on the 320x240 at motion record, 2 on record always. My point is this; plan a higher resolution record system and you will appreciate the quality and the bang for buck is obvious. oh, lighting issues? f you buy a decent camera t will have all the dip switches to handle any lighting issue. read up on it here in the forum. bottom line is you may not be able to avoid problems with headlights but you will be able to handle natural light changes via camera settings.

on the wired side I'd go with CAT5/28vac on the long runs beyond 500ft. so that you have allowed for the voltage drop. use active baluns. cable? unless you spend a fortune on outdoor protected, and it sounds to me like this is a temp install, I'd just run the CAT5 and protect where needed. ie. run cable in the ground, pvc tube, from the site to a location away from and then go above ground the rest of the way. since it is a construction site the cable repair business will be good..............make sure your qoute does not allow for "free" cable repairs or you'll go broke. give them a few different quotes; cheap, cable exposed; expensive, cable protected; medium, combination of. wireless? this maybe the best if you have good site power at the construction location. consider purchasing the wireless equipment and renting it to them until the completed install? You'll get the job with the lower quote and the final install.................

Got them. They are nice. have not tried them on the job yet but I like the feel of them so far. Only thing I don't like is that the rubber eye covers do not seal to the face, not even close....and no my nose is not the problem. The pic is clean, feels like I am in theater watching the big screen, and resolution is good enough to do the simple focus and simple adjustments while on the ladder. This will also work well in finding the proper mounting for the camera's without too my pain. Color on the 7" DVD monitor is better but the pics are comparable. The battery pac is also nice; size of a pack of cigs, rechargable, belt loopable. Will find out how long it holds a charge. try looking at the DV6010M. least exspensive and it works. concept is to have your vehicle cameras uplink the video to the server, via wireless network, located in the building so that the video is saved after the fact. amps on a battery does not mean it will push 20amps into the device/camera and wreck it......the camera "pulls" the amperage needed, the wire diameter allows the proper amperage to travel to the device. amps as identified on a battery can equate to a 2 cups of water, one full and one half full. the full one is 20 amps and the half full is 10 amps. you plug into each with the same "hose" to drain them........one lasts longer than the other due to more water (amps). amps as drained is dependant on the device amperage and the size of the wire.....the wire has to meet the needs of the required amperage. hope that helps...........sorry if it was too "deep"

12VDC, 16 camera, 8 amp........of which only 7 camera's are drawing from. I also had problems with it at first. Got a bad halo and outdoor was cloudy. I solved the cloudy by removing the plastic crappy lense cover and replacing it with nonreflective glass, swapped out the lense with a 2.1mm to get more pic, and then used in my garage to max out the IR reflection. Garage is 30x26 ft. so it is not small. I would not repurchase this camera. I'm happy with the 9100EX and the decent pics I get for the price.

used WIN remote. Switched to VNC and it works great.
