If anyone is looking for a new Mini NVR I suggest searching for NVR on Aliexpress. I bought a bare board one recently and added a SATA HDD. Now I have to make a case on my 3D printer.

In the past I have been able to view my Escam Mini NVRs in Chrome or Firefox by selecting Non ActiveX mode but for some reason it has stopped working correctly. I can login and the Preview windows is displayed but the central part of the screen doesn't show any frames for the cameras and clicking on a camera channel on the left does nothing. It used to work until recently. I've tried Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Microsoft Edge and all are the same. Only Internet Explorer works in IE ActiveX mode but not in Non AxtiveX mode. No firware upgrades have been performed on them since they were working. I have two of these at different locations and the same is happening with both. It's the same if I access them from the internet and the local network. Can anyone suggest what has changed in the past couple of months?

Try upgrading to the latest firmware. If that doesn't work try emailing Joe at support@escam.cn. He is very slow to answer but he may be able to help.

Thank you very much Marconi-2000 that was the solution. What I had to do; 1. Uncheck in IE Security (I'll leave it like this because it's the only thing I use IE for). 2. Reset Default file folders. System default is C:/Program Files (x86)/BACKUP but when I click on the browse button and select the same folder it changes to C://Program Files (x86)//BACKUP. (Note: Double //). 3. Normal process for backing up recorded video. I'll have to let Escam support know the solution as they didn't have the answer and kept saying it works. Thanks once again. Lester

Thanks Macaroni-2000, I'm glad it is not just me. Joe from Escam support told me he tried it in Windows 10 32 bit version and it was OK. Of course the only Windows 10 computers I have access to are all 64 bit. Escam now have a new model K508 and I would be prepared to upgrade if I could get a guarantee that it would work in Windows 10 64 bit. Regards, Lester

I've tried that but when I try to change the default location I save it and a red "success" is displayed then it immediately reverts back to the default.

I've solved the problem of not being able to see my cameras in IE ActiveX mode by resetting my N6200-8E network setting to default but I still can't backup recorded video. The default location for backup files is C:\Program Files (x86)\BACKUP and a backup appears to work as it shows the % done until it reaches 100% but there is nothing in the default location. Has anyone successfully backed up video using IE? If so, how did you do it and where were the backup files saved?

Can you see your Sircam in the Preview window? If not, it might be a problem with the upgrade. Prior to upgrading I was able to view my cameras in Preview and Playback windows but now I can't see them in ActiveX mode. Have you tried setting up and viewing in Non ActiveX mode?

I received an update 20160607 from Escam and installed that but I couldn't preview or backup my cameras in IE ActiveX mode but I could preview in Non ActiveX mode (backup not available in Non ActiveX mode). I have now installed update 20160707 but still have the same problem. Can anyone who has upgraded to 20160707 preview their cameras in IE ActiveX mode? I have tried uninstalling IE plugin and reinstalling it but that didn't help.

Is this update, 20160707_0153_mini_8ch_A.update, the one that is giving trouble with video output? Has anyone installed it successfully?

I have and N6800-8E and have never been able backup recorded video through IE in ActiveX mode. I emailed Escam support and they sent me an update "update.3520d.a.web.all.nor.4_0_2016060718.mini.8ch.update" plus "dvr.update". When use IE in ActiveX mode after the update it installed a new version of rtspvideoplugin but I could no longer view my cameras in IE ActiveX mode but I could in Non ActiveX mode. I've uninstalled new rtspvideoplugin and installed the previous version of the firmware and when I connect via IE in ActiveX mode for the first time it installs the earlier rtspvideopluging but I still can't view my cameras in ActiveX mode. There must be something else installed that affects this. What do I need to remove to get back to a clean system? Escam support haven't replied since I reported this problem.

You have to save to a HDD attached to the device. The following list is from the quick start guide. The product supports external HDD only, including mobile HDD, hard-disk cartridge with E-SATA port. We have tested following HDD brands and model numbers work with the mini NVR: Seagate Backup Plus 1TB 2.5’’ USB3.0 mobile HDD, Model No.: STBU1000300 Seagate Expansion 1TB 2.5’’ USB3.0 mobile HDD, Model No.: STBX1000301 Seagate Expansion 2TB 3.5’’ USB3.0 external HDD, Model No.: STBV2000300 Western Digital (WD) Elements 1TB 2.5’’ USB3.0 mobile HDD, Model No.: WDBUZG0010BBK Once you have it working try to backup to a HDD elsewhere. I can't get it to work. If you do, let me know how.

I see Escam now have a K204/K208. I guess it has updated hardware from the K104/K108 but I can't find any more detail than the basic specs. Has anyone bought one of these yet? I'm considering it, hoping it will backup my video which the N6200 won't.

Does anyone on this forum backup their video from the drive on their N6200 NVR? If so, how do you do it and where is the backup saved?

I can't get the backup to work. In IE using ActiveX I go to Config > System Management > Local Settings. The default location is C:\Program Files (x86). I set it to C:\temp for all then hit "Save". I get a red "Success" then they all revert back to the default. When I go to Playback > Backup and select the camera, time and avi but the Up to: shows C:\Program Files (x86)\BACKUP and can't be edited in this window. I click Start and the progress goes through until it is showing 100% but there is no file in C:\Program Files (x86)\BACKUP or any of the other folders shown in Local Settings. I've even tried deleting the folder and the backup completes at 100% without complaining. I suspect the file is being saved elsewhere but can't find it.

Through the browser I got it to capture to the PC disk and using the Video Monitor software I got attempted to backup to the PC disk and it went through and completed but the resulting avi file was only 1K in size. I'll try with a flash drive. If I remember correctly one of the options was local or remote which must refer to the backup disk.

I have an N6200-8e. It is recording OK because I can playback recorded video but I can't backup video. I've tried using IE and also the Video Monitor Software that I downloaded for this NVR. Both show that it is processing and gets to 100% but there is nothing in the default backup location C:/Program Files (x86)/BACKUP. Is the file being saved elsewhere or is the backup failing. My backup attempts have been for just 5 min of present day and it takes a long time to get to 100%. Is this usual? The Video Monitor software is nothing like the software shown in the documentation included in the download. Is there another application I can download?
