    Wall mount question

Thanks. The area i live in is pretty quiet and one of the reasons id like some cameras is because i love my gadgets, not because i think the area warrants it but didnt want to get them installed if it drew attention in a street that doesnt have them.

    Wall mount question

Thanks for the replies. Did you store the pig tail within the base or did you feed the rj45 connector through the wall? One other question i had was around cctv in general. There are no other houses on my street with cctv (some dont even have alarms). Would getting cctv that is clearly visible (i cannot conceal it at all) draw attention to my house and make it more appealing to a would be burglar as they may think i have more to protect or have the opposite effect?
  3. Hi I am looking to purchase a couple of the new Hikvision exir turrets (DS-2CD2342WD-I). Because of the way my porch is i have no option but to mount these low down and within arms reach. This means the wall mount that is sold for this camera (ds-1273zj-130-trl) is not an option because the head of it can be unscrewed by hand very easily so one snip of the cat5 cable and they'd be off with my camera. This means i have to mount the cameras directly to the wall but one chap at a cctv store i spoke to said you shouldn't do this because the base is not water proof and you could get rain water inside the base. Has anyone wall mounted their cams or had any issue with rain water inside the base? Thanks
  4. Hi Just adding to this thread, I was looking to purchase one of the hikvision turrets and mount directly to my wall, vertically, but i spoke to someone who said that you shouldn't do this if it is outside as the base is not waterproof so it could get rain water, condensation etc on the inside. Has anyone had any issues with this on their wall mounted cameras? The mounting bracket (hikvision-ds-1273zj-130-trl) that everyone seems to be pushing on the EXIR turrets is useless from a secure point of view because you can unscrew the head by hand, snip the cat5 cable and be off with the camera. Where i need my cameras means they are low down and physically accessible so I need to make them as secure as possible. That bracket is not an option which just leaves me attaching directly to the wall. Thanks
